My daughter treated me for mother's day to a massage and facial & got one also. The welcome was great, the massage was great, however, upon leaving the owner demanded my daughter leave a tip because "the girls work hard". Not only did she say that to her, but she said it very loud with other patrons in the very small waiting room. Pay the workers and they won't have to rely on tips. She didn't know what our budget was and if that was my daughter's last penny to treat her mom. RUDE!!! DISRESPECTFUL!!!. My daughter shared this when we were in the car & I was telling her I plan to book a monthly with them. Needless to say, I don't think I will be returning. I learned about this spa after browsing the Groupon website looking for spa offers. After purchasing my Groupon I called the company and was able to get an appointment for the same day. When I showed up for my appointment it was difficult to find parking without having to pay for a meter. Once I entered the business I waited briefly before I was greeted. After maybe 5-10 minutes I was shown to a room by a masseuse named Amy once my Groupon information was taken. Amy then showed me a timer with the massage time that I paid for and began the service. Initially the service was relaxing but then soon the masseuse began interrupting my massage time and leaving the room. However, I never saw her stop the timer at any one of the times that she left the room. Apparently, she was leaving the room to retrieve various items like the hot stones that she used briefly. The interruptions were frequent but random and for various lengths of time. At one point she went to retrieve water and towels then preceded to give me what felt like a bed bath because it left me wet and cold all over. She spent a significant amount of time with this process but I am not sure why because I came there solely for a massage. After the timer went off I exited the room and went to leave the masseuse a tip that I felt was appropriate for the service that I received. When the person at the front desk loudly demanded that I leave Amy a larger tip as if she thought I would be embarrassed. I let he know just as loudly as she spoke to me that I left what I thought was sufficient for the service that I received. I also told her that she was loud, rude and tacky. She wasn't concerned about the quality of service that I received just the money that I tipped. I took advantage of the $50 spa week massage and made an appointment with golden day spa. I was very pleased with the service. I wanted to point out, after reading other reviews, that my masseuse amanda asked multiple times to make sure the pressure was good. Amanda has thumbs of steel, so I suggest her to anyone that likes a firm massage. I walked in with lots of knots in my back and left feeling loose and much better. Overall, great experience My only complaint is that the spa had a fair amount of noise going on - doors sliding open and closed and even another patron snoring in the other room. So if you are someone that needs complete peace and quiet, this may not be the place for you. But if you just need to work out some knots and have great service, I highly suggest! read more

While small, it's a nice little getaway in the middle of Yonkers Ave. The receptionists were friendly and happy to explain their services to ensure you select your preferred service correctly. My mother and I both chose deep tissue massages. (Note: they only have single rooms). I work retail so my shoulder area is always tense. The masseuse's hands were a great balance of firm yet soothing. She did lateral sides of the body, a focus on the back, oil & lotioning and then focused on the areas where I most needed her. My only complaint would be that she left the room several times (at least 3) to retrieve her resources and talk with the other ladies. I like a silent uninterrupted massage as I'm sure most do and felt at the very least she should've apologized and excused herself particularly when the service is timed. I booked a massage at Golden Day Spa for Spa week since my regular spa was not participating. I was thoroughly surprised! I'm so accustomed to being in a "spa" atmosphere like my regular spa (white robes, lemon water, sauna, etc), I was anticipating that I wouldn't be pleased with my massage but to my surprised it was just the opposite. While the place is small it's very clean and quiet. My massage was just the way that I liked it - a firm touch deep into the tissue - it was wonderful. I was even offered to buy a massage for use at another time for the price of the Spa Week special ($50) which was very nice. The only downside is that there is only metered parking in the area - so you feel rushed to get back to your car before the meter expires and you get a ticket! I can't wait until the next spa week and if for some reason my regular spa is not participating I will definitely go back to Golden Day Spa. read more

I had a reservation for my cousin and I in the same room for 3pm.. got there at 245 and they split us up because they were short staffed (uhm okay) then other customers came who demanded the room I was in so in mid facial (that was suppose to be an extraction of acne but all she did was steam my face and massage my cheeks) I had to get up and change. My facial was suppose to be for an hour but she kept stepping out the room every 5 mins to switch "facials" between others and I. Lastly it's suppose to be "silent" but it was none stop talking. Small but nice and clean! Usually I'm very nervous to try a new place specially for wax cause my skin is VERY sensitive and if they don't know what are they doing I end up burned with dark spots all over my legs. Helen was great and very professional. She took her time waxing and also I end up doing a facial! She knows what she's doing and also gave great devices of how to take care of my skin! She was great! I definitely going back to try out other services they provided. The down side is to find parking or pay the meter! Another thing, when she was providing me the service I wanted, she had to leave the room a few time or pic up the phone. Kind of annoying. My family has been going to Golden Day Spa for years and this is my long over due review of this place. My wife and I have visited many of the day spas across Westchester. Some of them have all the fixings like Sun Decks, Saunas, Jacuzzis. etc. If you need all of those amenities, then I recommend Oasis Day Spa in Dobbs Ferry. If you are just looking for the best hands down deep tissue massage anywhere in the area without the extras and the extra price then this is the place to go. Period. I've been to many spas from high end ones with lockers, saunas, pools, etc to hole in the wall get in and out places. This would likely be the latter. I got a deep tissue massage and facial yesterday and I don't think I'll be returning. I'll start with the facial was good. Definitely felt relaxing as I did fall asleep for one point of it. I did wish she told me what was going on my face but after I passed out it didn't really matter. The massage. I am currently in a lot of pain from the deep tissue massage. My upper back feels bruised. I understand a deep tissue is more intense and I did ask the massage therapist (Amanda) to go lighter several times but I've never experienced pain like this after a massage. I also did not feel relaxed. This is the first massage where I stayed up the entire time because I was being shaken and bent in all places. I felt as if the massage was very rushed. I'm in worst shape now than I was going into the spa. Overall, I am not really please. I regrettably gave a generous tip which probably mislead the therapists to thinking it was great service but unfortunately I do not plan on returning. read more

I've found a gem close to home! I work in Manhattan, where there are so many beautiful spas with a lot to offer but they are incredibly $$$ unless you use a deal which is so unpredictable. Also, I just find it's so much more relaxing to get a treatment and not have a long commute home. I was in desperate need of a massage and I happened upon Golden Day Spa, one of the few spas in the area that was open on a Sunday. I arrived with no appointment and Helen happily told me she would fit me in. Although there aren't a lot of frills (no sauna, no steam room) I loved the atmosphere of the rooms and the thoughtful menu of services so I UPGRADED. I got a 60 min deep tissue, foot reflexology, Cranial and ear candling. I received a stellar massage and chatted with the playful and kind-hearted Helen throughout my services. She is both considerate and incredibly knowledgeable. You can tell she's been doing this for a very long time. My money was well spent! It was a very relaxing and affordable spa day. Just what I needed. I also have to mention, I loved how clean and well decorated the rooms were. I'll definitely be coming back regularly. read more

Got a Brazilian wax here today at the very reasonable price of $50. They use soft wax and strips so I would advise taking Advil beforehand, but my aesthetician was quite fast and very thorough, which included tweezing any stray hairs after waxing. I don't live in the area but if I did I would definitely be coming here regularly for a clean and thorough wax at a great value. read more

I was very disappointed with their service today. I called earlier the same day to take advantage of a discounted offer for a massage. I reserved for 4:00 PM and went about my day. When I arrived at 4:00, she looked at me confused and then said, "I'm sorry, I booked you for 2:00 by accident and then put you in as a no show. You can wait around for an hour if you like". I decided not to stay around and left upset because I wasted my time traveling there and I had to leave based on her mistake. My biggest problem was that she did not seem apologetic at all. This is not a spa. Do not allow the name to fool you. Conversations in the reception can be heard in the massage rooms. Also, Yelling could be heard in the back of the store. Heather is not a licensed therapist. She presses on the spine throughout the session which is a hazard. Copious amount of time is spent on the back with passing strokes given to the extremities. In prone position the hamstrings and biceps are not massaged at all. read more

WARNING THE WORST MASSAGE THERAPIST EVER!!!! This was the worst massage experience of my life. I took my sister for what should have been a mom's day out at the spa but unfortunatel, afterwards we both were discussing how awful both of our massages were. The one star was for it being clean. The woman giving my sister her massage was coughing & sneezing the entire hour long, and sooo loud it was heard thru out the entire spa. As if that wasnt the worst part, she was unconfortably rough, my sis kept asking her to not be so rough yet she continued at the same pace. Although this Spa is small inside - the service was amazing. I love a good facial and I appreciated the therapist giving me an honest evaluation on how to keep up with my skin care. I plan to make this a monthly visit as it's easy, affordable and my skin is still feeling the positive effect. Came here for a Body treatment. The main reason I chose this spa, was because I was looking for a body treatment that involved a Vichy shower (basically a massage bed that has a shower head over the bed, so you get a shower while laying down). On their website, the Sea Salt Glow Body Treatment was said to end with a Vichy shower. When I got in I was led in a room right away to get started. I noticed there was no shower in the room, but I still went with the flow. The treatment itself was great, quite relaxing and the lady was very sweet and attentive. After the oils and the scrub was applied, I was led into their regular main bathroom to take a regular shower! Now overall it was a great experience, but of course I was disappointed because my main reasoning for going here was to receive the Vichy shower. I decided to try this spa as it is literally across the street from where I live and plus it was Spa Week. I scheduled a facial and a massage for the same day. I arrived and was given my facial which was good but when I was about to be ready for my massage I was asked to wait because someone else came late, so I agreed. Then it was can I reschedule for another day and I would be compensated with an extra 25 minutes on the massage, to which I agreed. I return on Monday for the massage and was greeted with smiles and a warm welcome, I waited a few minutes as they prepared the room. The massage was the absolute WORSE I have ever had and I have had a few! I got up off that table in more pain than when I laid down but I made it through. Now this is the best part of the whole experience and I am being humorous here, I gave the lady who did my massage $5 when I was getting ready to leave and she looked at it and said NO, $10 you give me $10, I tried to explain that I only had that much in cash and I was verbally attacked by the lady from the front desk who started in on how they give good service there and that the tip is not in the price and she even went as far as to show me a poster showing how much tip should be given depending on the quality of service received. I told her I would bring another $5 later or tomorrow but she kept on going on about how I got 25 more minutes and that $5 was not enough of a tip. All I had was my debit card which she said she could take the $10 from and gave me back the $5. I have never been so embarrassed and humiliated for my own money especially when I received such subpar service. I will never go back to this place again. read more
