Just took our 2008 Rav to have it smog checked. There are a million places close by and at least 4 in this same Airport Rd area but Bob had great reviews on Yelp so I thought OK I'll try this guy. Made an appointment over the phone with him and once I got there he was ready and started right away. Done within 30 minutes and out the door at a very good price. Just make sure you call for an appointment. Regardless of walk-ins, he does his appointments first. Thanks Bob! read more

Without an appointment, on a recent, busy Thursday afternoon, I asked Bob to "get me in line" to get smog checked on my 200,000 m. 03 Honda CRV. With at least three cars were ahead of me, I was able to be fully serviced "out the door" in less than 90 minutes! If you getting smog test for your car this should be the first place to go to. I just got lucky to find this SMOG check place because It closes a little later than the others. Bob is an amazing person that have a lot of experience, treat customers professionally, and will give you advice to keep your car running good for a while. Because he's amazing with his work, he might get busy but give him a call and he will let you know before the conversation ends if he will be able to look at your car. I used him twice now and I'm sure I'll go to him if I ever need to get my car check. read more

I just got a smog test on my truck and the service was great. He even stayed open late to give us a smog test. I will be brining my car there as well. He also gave us a military discount which is nice. I would recommend anyone to take there vehicle here for a smog test. read more

Trustworthy people in the auto industry are hard to come by, especially when you are a female. My friend suggested this place and I am super thankful that she did. Bob is an amazing person and trustworthy. He let me know everything up front and didn't change his story after he was done like I have been told many times before. I had just gotten an oil change and the guys there had told me if I didn't get a new belt soon, mine could rip off any second and cause a major accident on the freeway. After I paid for my smog I asked Bob if he noticed anything wrong about my belt and he said no, but to let him double check just in case. He looked at it and said it was perfectly fine and that companies do that to up-sell you since most people don't know the difference. He also gave me a business card to an auto mechanic that he trusts and to mention his name and they will take care of me. I am so thankful to Bob. Call ahead and make an appointment and you will be done in 20 minutes and not get the run around you get at most mechanics. read more

Thank you, Bob! Finally someone who took the time to help me and figure out why my car wouldn't read the OBDII meter required to pass smog, On Sat I took my older Mercedes to "Encinitas Smog", after waiting 2 hrs (yes, I had an appt but they were very busy) that it wouldn't pass but what they really meant was that they couldn't hook up the meter. They charged me $45.oo. I had to wait until Monday to take it to my mechanic who charged me $100 dollars to fix a clip. Next day, took it back to Encinitas and they still had a problem reading the meter. They were going to charge me but decided not to...they are very nice but not so savvy. So I called my girlfriend who has an older car and she told me about ABC - ask for Bob. So I did. After pulling info from the web on my older Mercedes, I found out you need to check the computer (ECU) ...which he did first thing. He is very knowledgeable. He showed me the port inside my car which held the connector ...it was loose. Which in turn wouldn't connect to a reading machine. Well, he pulled it down so he could grab a hold of it and now has access to the connection needed. I passed as I always did and that's that. However, I will never go back to Encinitas Smog. Bob/ABC Smog Inc _260 Airport Road, Oceanside, CA 92058 will be my new smog guy. Old school! sometimes you just need that common sense! Thank you, Bob for ending my run around and it only cost $60.00 even after he fixed it!!! Yay! read more

THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! The owner will quote you a price then when you drive there he will raise the price and you can either take it or leave it. Its your choice if you want to take a gamble, I think I would want to go to a honest shop instead. read more
