So disappointed in our takeout order. Ordered ABC House specialties and it was nothing like it has been in the past. As you can see in the picture, The gravy should be brown. Instead the gravy was a light orange color with no flavor. I ordered the barbecue pork fried rice and got pork fried rice. Which has pork with no flavor! Also ordered Broccoli shrimp and it to has very little flavor because there was hardly any gravy. Very dry. House lo mein with rice noodles tasted like It was cooked in just soy sauce. The only items that had good flavor was the tofu with pork (again the flavorless pork) but the gravy was good. And paper wrapped chicken was good. I came to this restaurant because of a recommendation by family members. It was on the way home, so I took a chance. Like most people today, when ordering takeout the first thing you do is find the restaurant's website to look for a menu. I found their site and ordered. I was not informed of the total cost. So, I assumed it was the price stated on the online menu. When I picked up my order, I was shocked to discover the total was around $24! Of course at that point, it feels like you have no choice. I questioned the worker about the price difference. She explained that they had changed their prices, but hadn't done so on their website. in my opinion, they should honor the price online. Especially when a guest brings up the price difference. You would earn more return customers if you did. To me, it almost seems like a trick. Like they are purposely leaving the old prices up, knowing most people will not say anything. While the food is good, it's not worth the price and deception. I'll just return to my usual restaurant who serves the same food (and specific meal I bought), but at half the price. read more

We came her for dinner it's been several years since we've been here. I don't know if our taste has changed or the quality but we don't like it anymore. We got seated quickly then ignored for several minutes. We both ordered hot and sour soup and it was thick, overly salty and no spice at all. It reminded both of us canned chicken noodle soup. They didn't bring any condiments like spicy mustard with our meal. I had the almond chicken and it was very different from what I remember. My wife had the ABC chicken. I ended at ABC Madarin because the nearby fish and chips place I was going to eat at doesn't take credit cards. ABC Mandarin looks nice from the outside. The interior was clean and modern. It looked like it had been remodeled recently. There was a large clean freshwater aquarium near the entrance. The restaurant was not busy and I was promptly lead to a table. Me waitress was nice (although very quiet). The menu is what I would consider a classic Chinese American menu. I ordered the chicken cow mein dinner with egg drop soup. The soup came out immediately and tasted good. My meal quickly followed. The wontons were not good. The shrimp was larger although it was covered in a ton of batter which was still doughy. I didn't care for the egg roll either. The fried rice was average. The chow mein was good, although the hard noodles were dark brown (much darker then what I usually get) and didn't keep their crunch. Used to be our go to place in the Odgen area for many years. Went there for dinner on a Friday evening and it wasn't as crowded as it used to get. Ordered potstickers, sesame chicken, family style tofu and beef lo mein. The potstickers were large but don't let that fool you into thinking there's a lot of filling because most of what you get is dough with very little filling. The dough was about a quarter inch thick so it was not very appetizing. $9 for the order and it was definitely not worth it. Same with the sesame chicken. Thick layer of batter so instead of having a dish that was light and crispy, it was dense and heavy. Lo mein was pretty good and the tofu dish was tasty but the sauce was almost like a overly thick gravy. Is sad to see the place go downhill. Most likely won't be returning any time soon. read more

We came here after leaving the place across the street that completely ignored us last night. This was not our first time here, and based on prior experience here, we never should have bothered with the other place. This time was no different. The service is very good. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our order was taken right away, and our food was brought out us efficiently. Our waitress was kind, patient, and helpful. I can't recall every having anything here we have not enjoyed. Favorites for our family are the strawberry chicken, the wonton soup, and the house lo mein. The ABC chicken is also very good. The only reason I docked a star is because they brought us sweet and sour chicken last night, when we had asked for sweet and sour shrimp. But if I could I would only dock half a star for that because they took care of the problem kingly and swiftly. read more

TERRIBLE QUALITY. EXTREMELY RUDE SERVICE -- SPECIFICALLY THE MANAGER on duty 5/30/20 ~7pm. Having returned home with take-out dishes, we were beyond disappointed with both meals. The chicken (far more breaded gristle than anything else) and the beef (very little and cooked to a rubbery consistency) were simply inedible. After stewing on the issue for a brief period, we determined that we simply needed to return and request a refund. Upon arrival, we were very quiet and cordial, so as not to disturb others or impose upon their experience. When offered a credit or to have the dishes re-made, we politely requested a refund rather than wait for what we expected to be the same quality a second time around (not to mention either wait in the public space during C19 lockdown or repeat the drive back and forth). The staff asked that we wait to speak with the manager. THE MANAGER emerged from the rear and BEGAN AN EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE DIATRIBE, the likes of which neither of us have ever witnessed in customer service (this was rather loud, surrounded by many other customers easily within earshot). Arguing that "Over half of it has already been eaten and why didn't you call first? This was over two hours ago." This is simply not true. The plates were barely touched, as we found the food disgusting and the pick up was less than one hour prior, with us driving over 20 minutes each way. Why would one call in to complain of the food's quality, and if so, how would management be able to witness the quality of what is coming out their the kitchen? Regardless of the circumstances, our biggest issue is that THE MANAGER WAS BEYOND RUDE AND SIMPLY AGGRESSIVE, behaving as if we were trying to scam. When I shared my feeling that this was a poor decision on his part and that it is foolish to verbally assault your customers directly in front of several others, and that I was offended and feeling ready to leave scathing reviews, his reply was, "Go right ahead." I was beside myself and questioned again, "Are you really willing to treat your customers this way and accept the negative feedback for the sake of a $24 ticket?" His reply was, "Yes, go right ahead." I'm completely flabbergasted by this behavior. On our way out, I inquired with the staff as to his name so that I can refer to him specifically when speaking to his employer, but was told, "We can't tell you that." My sincere hope is that this review finds it's way back to the establishment's ownership and this manger receives a little continuing education and sorely needed professional development. He has quite a bit to learn about proper manners and a very long way to go in improving his people skills. Again, let's not forget, the food was terrible. There was no apology, no mention of speaking with the cooks. There was only aggression in repeating, "I can give you a credit or we can make it again." There's no way that we will ever want to eat from this kitchen again, but the greatest offense was this angry little man's treatment of us. F*** you very much, Mr. Manager. The egg rolls and shrimp that comes with the dinner combination plate is pretty good. The dish was mediocre. The rice and egg drop soup were unbelievably bland. BUT most importantly...shortly after eating I began getting stomach pains. I became violently ill and it ruined my night. Once I got it all out of my system, I felt much better. When they serve fresh made food this place is hard to beat. I love the Tangerine beef and ABC chicken which is just about what everyone likes. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be the most consistent of fare. The service is great and always a good time chatting with who I assume is the owner. He has a great personality and is very attentive. The staff is so friendly and courteous, the food is amazing, and the owner serenades you.. what more could you ask for?? For authentic Chinese cuisine, this wouldn't be my recommendation. I always end up eating here since there are a lot of graduation and birthday parties that family/friends choose to rent out the basement for. Small parking space which makes it difficult during the busy events. Although it's not what I consider authentic, I do really enjoy the Lo Mein and the Pepper Salt Pork Chop. Everything else is okay. For parties, they provide the food buffet style. As the food runs out, they replenish the supply with freshly cooked trays. I grew up going to this place, and honestly sort-of assumed I thought it was what Chinese food was supposed to taste like because that is what I grew up on. Fast forward 30 years and having spent more than my fair share in China I can say that ABC Mandarin is completely authentic! There is nothing "contemporary" or "fusion" about this joint. However, we got sweet n sour chicken, lo mein, fried rice, won tons, egg rolls, all mediocre or bad. Fried rice was tasteless and the ham was some kind of baloney! Egg rolls were fried in rancid oil, looks mein was greasy and tastless. Actually everything was tasteless. I feel bad about saying all this, hope if you go it was better for you. Big portions of mediocre food. Not terrible. Not great. Decent pricing for what you get. Good for large groups. The servers are a little disorganized and would repeat questions occasionally. I highly recommend going to the restaurant. They have the best sweet and sour chicken around. It comes out hot and crispy. The ABC Chicken (Szechuan) is also very good. (Not the same take out, but that's true of any fried take out food) I like everything I've had. The service is excellent, though they occasionally get a little backed up. Portions are large, the prices are low, and the atmosphere is great.
