Don't go here!! I walked in and was not greeted. The front desk girl that sits on the right side, was talking crap because the other girl looked my way. She was also rude to a Spanish speaking man, she needs to learn how to speak to everyone in general because her demeanor was horrible. Also made a small remark trying to be sarcastic with me. Just because I had my kids with me or it would have went south. Unprofessional!!!!. The place is filthy!!! Chairs are disgusting, whole place was disgusting, including bathroom. Everyone don't seem to be nice except the actual doctor. If you hate your job that much, then leave. It needs better customer service and greet and talk to people like you actually like working with people. And clean up the place, it's disgusting. Will never come to this place again!! read more

My almost 7-year-old daughter has been a patient at this office for the last 6 years. We have gone every 3 months like clockwork ($40 each visit) for checkups due to her strabismus. Unfortunately, in the last few years the experience has slowly declined. At first it was the not well trained, not very kind front desk staff. Then it was the constant turnover of doctors always giving a different opinion. For example, in 12 months my daughter was given 3 different prescriptions (via 3 different doctors) and told she needed new glasses each time, due to the prescription change... and mind you each new pair of glasses cost $350+. The doctor takes the word of the medical assistant who takes you back first, and very little actual exam is done by the doctor. Also, do not expect to have the same doctor as we have had six different doctors in the last few years at this location. They do not take VSP. The in office glasses counter tells you not to order from them as they are 2 to 3 months delayed in getting glasses to you. If you can get past all of that, I'm not sure you can get past the homeless people sleeping in front of the office, making you feel very uncomfortable in the early hours. Recently, I called 3 different times asking for doctor Cassidy or a manager to give me a call back to discuss my frustrations & issues. 3 weeks later a lady named Amanda called and said they could change my daughters prescription back to what it was so she wouldn't need new glasses again.. WHAT?! We are just going to flip-flop? I used to recommend this place to everybody, I think they have 4-6 patients due to my past recommendations. Unfortunately, we have let them know we are no longer going to be going to ABC. I do not recommend this location nor the ABC childrens eye group. read more

This office had a distinct bad smell. Like perfume mixed with body odor. Most of the staff seemed indifferent to kids. The Dr and the staff were bothered that my 2 kids were being kids. My childs first eye exam and she was crying cause they were putting eye drops and shining lights in her eyes. The drops were done to her two different times. And the second time a different staff member kept "checking her watch" as to symbolize we were taking too long. She's 4. She's preschool age. A children's eye clinic with very cold, condescending staff. They had no toys, color pages, books nothing in the waiting room but a 32 inch or so TV playing movies. I will never go back to this place !! I took my son to get his vision checked because the school was concerned. The visit was fine and they mentioned to me when I first got there that If my son had issues with his vision after the exam they would tell me and give the prescription and look at glasses. That being said !! We where there two visits and the fist visit they said he is fine his eyes where good , come back in 6 months so then I bring him back in 6 month. They check him again and I spoke to the doctor and again he told me that everything was good and in the front they also said it that his vision was good and come back in 6 months .I was like ok that's fine I didn't think anything of it ! They said he was good. Moving forward . My son recently starts a new school and I was looking through my emails for any records of correspondence from the eye doctor and what comes up a prescription that my son needs eye glasses . They emailed me this . Now they told me everything was fine so that was unexpected. I am very angry and I won't trust them again because how can I believe them when they say one thing and then send something totally different ,when they looked at me and told me my sons eye site was good and they even explained why and said they had no concerns .They are very unprofessional and disorganized . This is my child's eyes site. My children are the most important to me . I want them to do the best that they can do and if my son needed glasses to do so I should of been well notified period . Had a conversation about the options and availabilities . I am going some where else and getting a second opinion because I don't really know what is true . Alll the doctors told me his eyes where good after the exam and to come back in 6 months . They didn't call and say wait a min there is a problem with your sons vision . I got nothing except that email and I didn't even know that email even existed because there was no contact from them saying my son actually does need glasses . There was no any explanation after the fact !! Just come back 6 months . I don't know how they have such good reviews because this is unbelievable .I am so livid . I would give them no stars if that was a possible to do so . There professional License would be questioned if it was up to me . I took my daughter here to test her eyesight at the advice of her pediatrician after she failed a screening. At her eye exam the doctor at ABC Children's Eye Specialists told me she was seeing 20/100 out of one of her eyes but overall 20/30-20/40. However, the prescription she wrote did not reflect this at all since the prescription for both eyes was almost the same. We ordered glasses from there and they told us they would be there in 1-2 weeks, but often even closer to 1 week. I called after 2 weeks and they told me that it was 1-2 weeks in business days, which means it takes 3-4 weeks. Nobody quotes weeks when they are talking in business days, but ok. They came in a few days later and my daughter was excited to wear them. However, she immediately took them off after trying them on and said everything looked too big. She also couldn't walk in them because they made her feel like she was going to fall. I thought maybe she just needed to adjust to the glasses, but then she would not keep them on no matter what we tried, and if she did wear them she kept removing them to be able to see. Finally after 3-4 weeks I took her into my optometrist (who I know is good and has had his own practice for quite a while). He discovered the prescription they gave her was not even close to correct. They had given her a prescription that was waaaaaay too strong (1.75 sph too strong in one eye and 1.25 sph in the other eye) and they missed that she has a significant astigmatism in one of her eyes. He also said she was his third patient that day who had originally gone to ABC Children's Eye Specialists and then come to him. He didn't say that happens all the time, but still a bit shocking. I also presumed she would see an opthalmologist when going here, but she saw an optometrist who was barely out of school. Do not go here. It was a huge waste of time and money. Find a good optometrist close to you. read more

It was my first time coming here for my one year old son because his pediatrician recommended he should get his left eye checked. I made the appointment and lately since he turned one his insurance needed to be renewed which I did two days prior. When I went into the building one girl seemed high her eyes were so red and low and she seemed to talk slow and the other girl at front desk was being extremely rude and unprofessional the entire time I was there. She said that he doesn't have any insurance I told her he should because I renewed it two days prior and she just kept being rude and giving me a dirty looks and I told her if I can just go call his insurance she told me that I was gonna hold everyone up and it wouldn't be fair and I should just leave so I told her we can reschedule it. When I was waiting for her to tell me a day and a time to reschedule she just sat there looking at me like I was dumb for standing there and she said okay? Moving her head with an attitude so I just left because I wasn't gonna waste my time. I absolutely loved it here! My son is eight months old and we needed to check out one of his eyes because it was just a bit lazy. The staff was so welcoming when we walked in. The process was very smooth and they had us in with the doctor in no time. Everyone did an amazing job at explaining what they were going to do and what to expect. We've been long time patients. I'm not sure if they have a new office manager or what has happened but it's now a 7 month wait for an eye exam. Scheduling told me the only difference between an ophthalmologist and optometrist was one can do surgery. That's dangerously inaccurate. An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor; an optometrist is not. While both are important, their spectrums of care differ significantly and it's scary someone in scheduling doesn't know that. Don't bother trying to contact them via the form on their website. They don't respond and when I asked why I was told it might be because they don't have appointments. The quality of care is likely still good but it seems the practice management has gone down. First, Saturday appointments went away, then any appointments. read more

We went to ABC Children's for my daughter's first eye appointment and we had a great experience! The nurse/assistant was so kind and gentle with her and helped her feel safe and comfortable, even with dilation. Dr. Kueny came in later for the exam and was just made to work with kids. She was so kind and put my daughter at ease right away. She did a thorough and age appropriate exam for my daughter and we left feeling confident in her assessment. We're so glad to know we are in great hands with Dr. Kueny and staff. read more

First time here. It was a long wait to see the Specialist, but they had informed us ahead of time that appointments typically take anywhere between 90-120 minutes. Office is clean and they have a large TV for children to watch and keep busy. Lobby is very large. Not a lot of seating, but there is plenty of room there to add more. We waited about 20 minutes and then were seen by a tech who checked my daughter's vision and then inserted drops to dilate. The dilation process takes about 25 minutes and we were sent back out into the lobby. We were called approximately 25 minutes later back into our room and only had to wait a few minutes for Dr. Makoshi to come in and do the assessment. She was extremely nice and worked really well with my 5 year old. She put up very engaging videos and images on the screen for my daughter to look at while she examined her eyes. We were given a prescription for glasses and told we could get glasses anywhere. They have an small eyeglass center there and out of convenience we decided to purchase the glasses through them. We paid $215 for the glasses and they should arrive in a few weeks. Very simple office and their customer service was great. They have 3 office locations. This one was closer to our home. read more

I will say that the overall staff were fine and friendly and doing their jobs. Like other comments though I will add and say the wait was crazy. It was my first ever appointment for my baby and it was scheduled for 2PM. I showed up at 1:35PM because I like to be early for paperwork. I wasn't back to see the doctor until 3:10PM. And I saw the doctor for a total of 3-5 minutes, she looked at my baby and said everything was fine. If I had known it would be that crazy I would have scheduled differently. This is in regards to the exact same issues I experienced last year. The total time I spent last year to schedule the initial appointment, that required 6 phone call attempts with time on wait totaling 73 minutes, and the follow up had an office wait time of 58 minutes before called, then 43 minutes before a specialist assisted wasn't expected but was the case! The follow up a bit smoother with nothing beyond the normal and expected. However in order to get assistance regarding an interpretation of the diagnosis to satisfy a School Psychologist who would not initiate testing do to 2 school nurses who felt that my Grandsons limitations(or so they guessed) needed verification by ABC and to clarify as well as what was needed to proceed for academic issues. Well this was where the chase began with a couple of promises to send the requested answers needed, which did not show up the 6 or so phone calls with long waits, that 3 times after 12- 15 minutes I could not continue. I will say that after a very defined effort by myself and the lengthy assault to get to the source that you need, I can understand that and realize that the Post Pandemic has truly made things that I can remember as much easier to navigate and accomplish have become a new battleground that seems very extensive and apparent. So of course maybe the rating should be more toward the #3 but I wish that I was in the range that numerous clients submitted the highest mark, but these comments are only from what is My or OUR experience and Truth!! read more

Absolutely Inconsiderate and Ridiculous! We pull up to my daughters appointment and the receptionist tells me the doctor called in sick. Mind you my husband took the day off and I had already requested the day off! Completely unprofessional and I will not be recommending this place. It would've been nice to atleast get a 30 mins cancellation notice atleast save us the gas! He's an excellent Dr and that's why I travel from North Scottsdale all the way to Mesa so my daughter can see him. I have been bringing my three boys here for a couple years now. I'm not sure if they change Management or sold the practice to someone else but scheduling has become awful. They told me they open their schedule six months ahead of time, so I tried calling and they kept telling me to call back the following month. Finally, when I called three months before I needed an appointment, they told me it was all full and they couldn't accommodate me. Showed up early to our confirmed appointment, standing room only in the lobby and the front desk informed me that the doctor we were supposed to see was working at a different location that day. It would have been considerate of them to call me at least the day before to reschedule. We waited a month for this appointment and took my child out of school for it. Terrible place, total waste of time, waited two hours with my 1 year old and the doctor still never came to see us so we walked out. They had put dilation drops in my childs eyes and said to wait 25 minutes, an hour later and the waiting room was packed full of kids crying from the stinging eye drops and having to wait for forever and we still never got to be seen. The staff did not care. We will never be back. They are terrible with kids! read more
