I'll start by saying that this can easily be called an "experience." Becoming a bartender is only a small part of what this program is really about. I've never paid so little and received so much in return. I believe this class is for people of all ages. Even if you're already a bartender, I think the 32 hours of training are well worth it. If you've ever wanted to become a bartender, this class will put you well above other candidates applying for bartending jobs. If you're single and simply looking to meet new people, this is a great opportunity. For me, it was a wonderful bonding experience and a chance to make new friends. If you're married or part of a couple, whether you're looking for employment or not, you'll become much more knowledgeable about what to serve guests at home, parties, and special events. If you're still figuring out what you want to do as a career, this class offers much more than bartending skills. You'll learn valuable interviewing techniques and professional skills that can help you pursue almost any job. If you already have a favorite drink that you order at restaurants, prepare to expand your horizons. You'll discover drinks you never knew existed and learn which cocktails pair best with different meals. I'm also speaking to anyone investing money in higher education, whether that's college, trade school, or career training. The relatively small cost of this class can easily pay dividends if it helps you land a job at one of the thousands of establishments throughout the Valley that serve highly profitable alcohol. Think you don't have the time? They offer weekday, weeknight, and weekend classes. Even better, the cost includes your Arizona Food Handler's Card and Arizona Title 4 Certification to serve alcohol. Just as earning an Eagle Scout rank or a college degree can open doors, so can bartender certification. The classes are intentionally small--around 10 students or fewer--which means you receive plenty of one-on-one attention from the instructor. My instructor was Greg. He shared incredible stories, was extremely encouraging, remarkably patient, and genuinely determined to help every student succeed and pass the course. The Facts About ABC Bartending School 1. As of now, they do not offer morning classes anymore for the bartending course. However, class is available Mon-Thurs 1-5pm or 6-10pm and Sat/Sun 9-5pm 2. The bartending course is under 300$ The cost covers tuition and books. NO HIDDEN COSTS, etc! 3. They are licensed by the state board of education and you can get title 4 certification. They work with the All Star Alcohol Awareness Association and are certified trainers for the DLLC certification. 4. Their job leads are updated weekly so you don't see the same ones. 5. It's true you can come into practice wherever and if you should move to another state and there is an ABC there, you can go there to take refresher courses too. 6. They return your tests and certificates promptly. 7. They are the only school on the west that teaches the Aloha POS class. It is 99$ but people don't see the value of the POS system if it's included in the price anyhow. 8. The book has been updated a new version is now available. ABC also offers classes in the Poker, Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Carnival Games, and Baccarat Games. All the instructors are currently working as table game dealers and are very knowledgeable as to what is required when you audition at the local casinos since some have worked as a hiring manager. I had a lot of people in my class that wanted to try this on as maybe a side job. I was one of those people. My instructor was very tough loving. He was very informative and a pro in the business, so I felt comfortable under his care. I wish the class size were smaller though - towards the end, it got really competitive between the students. I'm glad the program is done. It's a LOT to cram in for a weekend class and not every drink was taught. No hot drinks from the book and no mention of Moscow Mules. I'm not perusing the career, I felt overwhelmed by the end and frankly, a little "barred out". This is a good school for anyone truly wanting to get a job in a bar although most of my bartender friends told me they got hired at their bars without any prior Bartending experience and they learned on the job. Absolutely love this place and their whole staff! I did the fast track course, so basically I took 40 hours of coursework in a week. The course was great, even at the pace I was going, and goes over the basics like free pouring, basic drinks, beer and wine. They provide job leads, so after you graduate they give you a heads up of bars hiring in the area and because I did well on my practical and written test they wrote me a letter of recommendation as well. Got a ticket. Bummer. Took a class to make it go away, bummer again. About $250 when all was said and done but still have my license intact and now have the ability to spot those cameras around town...I will say this...I learned a lot. Do not go to ANY other bartending school in Arizona besides ABC bartending school! You not only receive the best training in the country, but you have a school for life that will always let you come practice when needed. The instructors Daniel and Greg will continue to mentor you as needed even after you graduate and that is worth the money in itself. When I went through the class they had employers showing up offering us jobs and it was our first day in class, which tells you a lot about their reputation. They also have private party events that you can work if you don't want to quit your day job. The atmosphere is very relaxed and they play music during the training to make it feel more like a bar. From the moment I walked into this place I felt welcome. The staff was super friendly and the instructors were very good as well. After the first day they knew me by first name basis. This place is exactly what I was looking for. The course does require quite a bit of memorization to pass but I'd rather be doing the memorizing in a relaxed and understanding environment than on the job. You learn martinis, cream drinks, sours, shooters, etc. They also teach you about the general tools and how to use them as well as different techniques. I've seen people write that you don't need bartending school to find a job which is technically true. However, you spill and fumble A LOT in the beginning and, again, I would hate to be learning all that on the job. Daniel is the weekend teacher and he's awesome. He's got a great sense of humor which makes the day go by fast and he's got a lot of experience so he shares tips and memories you can't get from a book. The only reason I'm not giving four stars is for cleanliness. They practice with colored water which means the bottles are filled up and reused. Almost everything you work with has mold on it. The sinks, store n pours, everything. And a lot of the metal stuff has rust which is also a health/safety concern. I am a germaphobe so I notice things like this! dont waste your time with the poker school . i called ahead and was was told by the instructor " cosmo " that he would be there untill 5 o'clock if i wanted to come check it out . i drove across town and showed up at 4 pm . no one was there and the bartender instructor came over and was quite rude when i asked if anyone was there for the poker class but that pale's in comparison to the rudeness of " cosmo " when i called him from the school and he said quote " i never said that i would be there , i said that the school would be there and if i wanted to wait 45 minutes that he would come back " and then i told him how unprofessional that i had been treated and he said oh well . read more

I had went into ABC Bartending in February 2013, I talked to Cosmo the owner. He made me super excited to start and to learn. However I had told him that I had started a new job and my hours might be changing for me so I might have to change what class I attend or I would have to postpone the classes. He told me no problem just let us know when it happens. My hours changed and I called them just like I was told to do. I told the woman who answered the phone that I will call back in May. She said "ok no problem I will note it on your paperwork and just let us know when you can start classes again". I called back in May and was told that because the lady who took my previous call 3 months ago didn't put the notes on my paper work, that I could not continue classes. She also stated that the employee who took my phone call a few months ago was fired because she was insubordinate. It's not my fault she did not do what she was supposed to. I did my part and let them know when I would call back to start classes. So now I am out about $300 and only took one class. I understand that on the contract there was a time limit to finish but the owner should have never told me no problem if I needed to hold off on it. read more

i took all three classes a little expensive when i took it now it's a little on the cheap side i will say this though they need to improve in job placement it took me a lot of hard work to get when i got cause i didn't even start in foh i had to start as a dish washer. and moved my way up now i am happier then ever all in all though this place is very awesome. read more
