We used Robert's to cater a Celebration of Life for my mother. Gathering of 40. They were flat-out amazing, and I can't say enough good things about them. RObert and his team were great from the beginning. From planning the food, how laid out their spread, timing, everything. They rolled with the punches on changes (there were several). We were told repeatedly that they would accomodate pretty much anything we asked, and that they were there to make sure that we could just enjoy the activity and not have to focus on any of the food, drinks, etc. And they were right, both my wife and I (who normally have difficulty letting go) didn't have to think about any of this AT ALL. They just took care of everything. I can't say how nice a change that was from previous events we hosted. Food was spot-on. Fresh vegetables, etc. to start, cooked on-site (set up right outside in the driveway) and cooked just right. Cakes were amazing. All the reviews about their awesome cakes are not lying. Finished up by packaging all the leftovers so we could just pop them in the fridge. Prices were very fair... I would not characterize them as cheap but not expensive. I felt we got very good value for our money. We've lived 2 miles form them for 10 years, and I can't believe we have not found them until now. Wow!! Robert blew this one out of the park. I found Robert on Yelp. Between a few other caterers on Yelp, his reviews and ratings gave me the confidence of knowing I couldn't go wrong. He EXCEEDED my expectations. I had a guest of 60 for a 50th birthday party and decided just to go with hors d'oeuvres. I was just looking for someone to cater, no staff, drop off food and go but based on some of the items I chose, he said the only way was to add staff as he needed to ensure those food items were served fresh off the stove/grill. So he added staff and worked it in my budget. I'm SOOOOO glad I went with him because the food was amazing, the staff/servers (who have worked with him for 15, 25 years) were amazing and EVERYONE raved about it. Robert was very personable. He came and helped his staff set up. I was busy running around filling drinks, and Robert jumps in, helped me with my mess, and he even helped us make guacamole, which wasn't even on the menu and it wasn't even his job! That blew me away. His staff set up their grills/stove on our side patio, food was served fresh, and the presentation......OMG!!!! The charcuterie spread alone took up the entire dinning room table and our hot food buffet was set up on our kitchen island. A client at our party was one who has had many experiences with catered events/parties and he said this was the best spread/set up he'd seen. All of our guest were highly impressed. Attended the Miss Arizona Trunk Party catered by Robert's and absolutely enjoyed everything! They had an overwhelming array of appetizers and deserts! I tried to sample everything! From pot stickers, guacamole and Chips, meatballs, sausage, egg rolls, various cheeses, cheese sandwiches (I'm sure I'm forgetting something) and the these little pies and all different types of cakes. We got married at a private estate on Camelback Mountain, and it went off without a hitch. Kenneth and Tiffany were outstanding and went out of their way to make sure we had the best experience possible. They even boxed up the top level of our cake for our anniversary, saved our left-overs, and stored them in our refrigerator. We didn't even notice until the next day. That was such a nice surprise. For my daughter's 1st birthday, we decided to get our cakes at Robert's based on the high rating it has here on Yelp. Today, I picked up the cake, quickly observing the baby's "smasher" cake, and not the main cake. I was not blown away by how it looked, but if it tastes good, then I could easily forget it. I brought the cakes in and wife opened them to check them out. Immediately, she said, "What the heck, is this nuts?!" The outside of the normal sized cake for my family and my 8 year olds to enjoy had some sort of crushed nuts rolled all around it. My wife was furious, but decided to give Robert's a chance, and called just to make sure that we had been given the correct cake. The conversation proceeded as such: Wife: Hi, my name is Kim, my husband just picked up our cakes, and I was calling to make sure that we got the correct cake. Before she could even explain what the issue is, whoever answered responded: Robert's: They are just pecans, no one is allergic to pecans, there is no problem. Again, my wife didn't even state that she was calling because of the outside of the cake, which is suspect. Wife: When I ordered the cake, he didn't say there would be nuts on it, and I asked for plain, simple vanilla. Robert's: I understand that, but they are just nuts, don't worry about it. If my wife had made a stink over the nuts, I can understand the gentleman's attitude, but to preemptively dismiss an error in the making without admitting some sort of fault is just poor business. Maybe I could forgive the issue if the cake turned out to taste awesome, but my 8 year-olds, whom the cake was intended for, do not like nuts. Robert's will not get any further business from us, and we will be sure to let others know that they are not pleasant to work with. Robert's Catering has been a long time partner of our local PBS station, KAET. Both he and his staff are incredibly nice and go out of their way to make your event special and worry free. Robert has a great list of main dishes, sides, and deserts for you to pick from but will also work with you on any special requests. And he is wonderful at making suggestions. At a recent Hawaiian themed event, the ever popular coconut shrimp was requested, but Robert made the suggestion that we try something a little different - a mahi mahi with an incredible light coconut and panko coating - to allow anyone with shell fish allergies to be able to enjoy the item. Everyone knows you can't serve fried foods on a buffet to just under 200 people right?! Wrong!! This stuff was out of this world good. Crunchy on the outside and done to perfection on the inside! And as others have mentioned, his cakes are out of this world good, so just pick one. Over the years I've had just about every single item that Robert has on his standards menu and it is literally some of the best catered food I've ever had! Robert did the catering wedding on 10/11/13, and the food was amazing. He was great to work with during the planning process, and worked with us a lot on what we wanted for our food. I told him that we weren't planning on doing a traditional cake because I was going to go with pies instead, and he offered to do the pies for us. And then on top of that, when I did end up getting a small cake besides (because the Strawberry Rum filling was delicious in the tasting) he said it was no trouble at all. Well, on the day of the wedding, we had a buffet of pies (apple, cherry, pecan, and berry!) and a lovely two-tier cake that I didn't even ask to be decorated, but had lovely buttercream icing. They really went above and beyond with their service and the food was delicious. The pies evaporated. I managed to get a piece of the apple and it was amazing. Robert made sure that my husband and I had everything at our reception that we wanted, and he checked up with us to make sure that everything was going to our liking. Robert Catered our wedding this past weekend and man oh man did he out do himself! I had had his food before at a different event and it was delicious Mexican and we decided that we wanted to do a taco bar for our reception. Each element was so delicious alone, but even better together! We had pork, beef and fish (both fried and grilled) with all the fixings and delicious rice (which was different than his normal rice and even better than usual). He had the tortillas as is but also created almost a quesadilla out of them for added flavor, but what was great was the people who didn't eat meat loved having a cheese crisp with the fixings as their meal so it was great all ways! So I have to admit, living out in the desert and being from the East Coast, seafood out here scares me! When we proposed doing Cape Cod/New England style apps, Robert loved the idea and ran with it...but I was still nervous. When we went in for our tasting, ROBERT BLEW ME AWAY!!!!!!!!! We had chowder shooters, scallops wrapped in bacon, lobster roll canape, a Mexican shrimp cocktail (close to ceviche)- all of which were amazing and he had raw oyster shooters at the wedding! Seriously?! WOW. Robert made cupcakes and small pastries for the deserts and they were phenomenal. He also had bartenders for the wedding so that made our lives extremely easy. The best part about Robert is that his crew is so helpful. We had a timeline of when we had to leave the venue and his entire crew helped in that preparation. I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Robert's Catering. They were accommodating but still helpful, professional but warm and personal, and of course they did a fantastic--I mean, really, really fantastic--job on the day of. First: I did all my wedding planning on my own, and I wanted a custom menu. Basically, I started with a craving for shrimp and grits, and I built my menu around that. Robert spent half an hour on the phone with me, then exchanged dozens of emails with me, just hammering out the menu. He was experienced enough with Southern cooking that he could accommodate a lot of my suggestions, but also not afraid to make his own recommendations based on experience. I loved it. Second: Incredible value. I started off with a dollar amount per person that I wanted to spend on food, and I got more than my money's worth, I am certain. We had Charleston style shrimp and grits, and chicken and sausage gumbo over rice as the two main dishes, plus appetizers (like a fantastic crawfish dip on baguette and deviled eggs that pretty much disappeared) and sides (people raved about the collards with pork jowl, the sweet potato fries, and the extra rich mac and cheese). AND ON THE DAY OF, Robert showed up with fried catfish, on the house. People LOVED it. Third: The dinner service was lovely. I had beautiful HUGE dishes, classy silverware, lovely red napkins with matching service table linens at my request. Friendly staff, tried to serve my husband and I food (we said we'd do it on our own, no problem!), brought us drinks, so wonderful. Fourth: Our cake was GONE. As in, I gave away the slice a staff member brought me because I was so excited for a friend to try it (vanilla almond cake with strawberry rum filling), and then never got another slice. Perfection. Fifth: The bartender did an awesome job. We brought out beer and wine to our venue and forgot about it. He completely took care of the set-up, and even saved all the corks for me as I requested. All in all, I have no doubts and no complaints because I had absolutely nothing to worry about with Robert's. My parents, moreover, were thrilled with the food and the service we received from Robert and Wendy and the rest of the staff. This was the right choice for my wedding :) read more

Roberts Catering is amazing! I was married last weekend and hired Roberts. I was referred to Roberts from Davids Bridal for the cake but ended up hiring them to cater the entire reception. It was a small reception in our backyard for 25 people but it felt like fine dining! The staff of two phenomenal ladies set up the buffet beautifully!! They spoiled us from the start and made sure we were taken care of. They conversed with guests and made everyone feel welcome. The food was so good from the stuffed mushrooms and meatballs to the carved beef and hunters chicken. I can see why some of the comments were made about Wendy because they don't realize how much she knows! Once you understand that she speaks from experience and wants to make your day special you know you are in good hands! She told us from the beginning that we wouldn't have to worry about a thing and we didn't. Trust Wendy she knows what she is doing. Now for the best part... the cake was amazing! Robert's did our wedding cake for 4/14/13, and it was amazing!!! (I am writing this review a bit late - don't judge...or judge more...we haven't done our thank you cards yet, either!!) They patiently allowed us two separate visits, much of the wedding party did not live in town, and did tastings both times. It was sooooo hard to choose a flavor! We ended up going with the Champagne raspberry for the main cakes, and the poppyseed blueberry for the bride and groom part. Holy cow was it yummy! It says a lot at a wedding, after a full dinner is served, for people to have seconds and thirds of the cake! It was moist, flavorful, and perfect! I have experienced other caterers and they do not give you as much food as Roberts does. Their service is phenomenal. They offer free centerpieces and real cloth linens for tables and buffet at no charge.They really do cater to all your needs and wants. The food is outstanding and out of this world. The beat thing was having main entrees and meats at the beginning of the buffet and being able to go back and get as much as you would like. They use Top of the line/ materials to make your event very special and to your liking. I was hosting a baby shower and ordered food from Roberts. Every time I called I felt rushed off the phone like they could care less if they had my business. Customer service is poor. So I am setting up for the party and notice MOLD yes MOLD on the fruit and cheese platter. Then I notice that I only have half my order of grape leaves. I called them and Wendy walks into the party with a replacement platter. By that time my guests knew there was an issue with the food. How Embarrassing! So our Christmas party took place on Friday, December 3rd, and here is my update. Robert's completely exceeded my expectations. He, and his staff, went above and beyond to ensure that our holiday party was a huge sucess. Everyone I spoke to throughout the night complimented the food with several people confessing to being addicted to the chipotle mac and cheese. I will confess that I am addicted as well to Roberts mac and cheese. At one point, I went up for seconds, got a mound of mac and cheese, and although being full, I just kept eating it. At one point, I told my husband that I think I have a serious problem but eating that mac makes me so happy. Anyways, ok, getting past the mac and cheese, the rest of the food tasted terrific as well but aside from the mac and cheese, the oriental glazed salmon was my favorite. My husband even admitted to liking it and he doesn't care for salmon. He says that he is considering having salmon more if it taste like that did. The prime rib and ham were cooked to perfection, the smashed potatoes with herbs were a big hit, and the green beens and jullienned carrots had great flavor for being vegetables. Oh and how could I forget the french onion tartlets and ruben tartlets that we had for appetizers. The hubby loved these and said he could have eaten an entire plate of them. I kept seeing him sneak off during the party and I am almost positive that he was eating more tartlets! Lastly for the food, the cake was unbelievable as it was previously during our tasting and many employees thought it was the best cake they had ever had. As for the service, all of Robert's staff was professional, clean cut, and friendly. They were very helpful in setting tables up, placing decor, and keeping everything cleared and clean. In the end, everything was terrific: The staff was great, the decor was beautiful, the price was reasonable and the food unbelievable. Would I choose Roberts again? They cooked the beef on demand which added a nice touch to the event. We also ordered a cake that was both beautiful and delicious! I gave them a picture of a cake, from the internet, to work from. The cake that was prepared was exponentially better looking. I wanted to kiss the baker, it was totally gorgeous. We received so many compliments on the food and the staff. We did have a small issue with the filling in the cake not being what we expected, but when I discussed it with the office staff, they were apologetic and made it up to us after the fact. Robert's was on my list of choices for my daughter's wedding at Val Vista Lakes. We had seen his catering trucks there many times and thought they must be good if so many people use them. It was the best choice we made for the wedding because they MADE the event. First of all, Robert is wonderful and so much fun to work with. I wish I could do another event just to hang out with him. He loves what he does and does it with style. The biggest compliments of the event were all about the food. Everything was delicious and the big hit was the scallop appetizers and the mac & cheese!
