Me and the wife wanted pizza tonight so we thought we would take the short drive to Abby's. Well the experience was horrible to say the least. It was loud and very busy. My wife ordered a large pepperoni pizza and two salads. I was waiting at the table and heard her name called I observed two salads just as she ordered and three pizzas. One was a large pepperoni. A man and a women approached the counter as I did. The young lady behind the counter got me forks for the salads. At the same time I observed the female waiting at the counter grab the pepperroni pizza and stick her hands on the corner of the pizza. I expressed that was my pizza and I did not want it since she stuck her fingers in it. She immediately got defensive and the argument started. The young lady that brought me the salads did not confirm at first who's pizza it was. I assumed since we ordered a large pepperoni pizza and there were three the pepperoni was mine. I think that's a reasonable assumption.The lady that touched the pizza became very aggressive with me declaring it was theres, because the young lady behind the counter had not said anything. So I got an ear full from the lady and the husband saying they ordered all three. This could have been avoided had the young employee told me sir your pizza is coming up next. But that was not the case she said " I called them first and they ordered all three pizzas."She stated she called there name. All I heard was my wife's name. This could have all been averted had the young lady working say immediately those pizzas belong to such and such. Instead she observed the argument and did not correct it.The lady at the counter grabbed the pepperoni pizza and continued to say rude things to me. I responded she did not have to engage with me in the manner she did. The lady replied don't talk to me I'm done talking to you. I have lived with my family in the community for over 7 years and have never experienced this kind of rudeness from a stranger and poor communication from an Abby's worker at the same time. I spoke to the manager and told him what happened and the young employee that was helping me said in my defense I announced the name and salads only. I could barely hear anything. The young employee could have assisted with the misunderstanding by clarifying who the pizza belonged to immediately to clear up the confusion. I spoke to the manager and he tried to make it right and make another pizza and salads to go. My wife and I were so upset we just wanted to leave and I asked for a full refund. I received the full refund. I sat down with my wife to try and decompress. As we were waiting the couple I had the interaction with at the counter walked by and gave me a dirty look. As I said I have never encountered this behavior in Newberg. I am very disappointed in the service and the lack for reason with this issue. I wanted to give it a five for the pizza and garlic knots, but I have to give it a 3x tar due to the lack of service in getting a clean table after you order your food at the counter. The ambiance is so loud not a place you take someone on a first date for sure. This place is more for group gatherings. Next time I will order take out. read more

This is a terrible ingestion experience and everyone knows it. Don't act like it's any better than pizza hut; the crust tastes like cardboard, and the ingredients like they've been frozen for a year. Made for filling you up, not offering a tasty meal. I'd honestly pick Domino's over this any day of the week. I only ate here because a family member suggested it. I am heading to waldport from Wyoming, and staying the night in Pendleton. I ordered delivery Abbys and it was really good. I looked at all their locations and it made me wonder if it's the same pizza place my mom would take me to in Newburg. what year was it opened in Newburg? I lived there in 1978,79 & 80. we ordered a shrimp, mushroom, black olive pizza. it sounds terrible but I have never had it since. I revisited Abby's this time I went and had pizza in the restaurant. I ordered the big Hawaiian which took about 45 minutes to make the pizza was disappointing. It had very little pineapple and the ham was dried out. I was expecting much more from Abby's as they usually have a reputation for a lot of ingredients. The ambience at Abby's is part of the fun experience the location gives, and the corn meal pizza they serve (in my opinion) is in my top 3 delicious pizza. If you're from some big hoity toity city, then yeah - this place is going to be outside your norm. No one is going to bow and scrape just so you can give them a full star review. They have better things to do than to baby you. Remember, you aren't in a city, you're in Newberg where patience and good-will are paramount. Plus, chances are you won't ever voluntarily come back from wherever you're from so why waste the calories to please you? The place is tucked away in this little town, the employees were super nice and friendly, however the wait time was kind of long. Waited an hour for 1 small pizza (ham and pineapple pizza) and 1 large pizza (just cheese)and 8 pieces of wings. Not even sure how the guy after me got his order before I got mine. It did not seem busy enough for me to have to wait that long. The pizza was alright but the Ham slices were huge that it covered majority of the pizza and not enough pineapple. This place honestly would be our major splurge, our when feelin sad drive over an hour and get a pizza place! We came here for a pit stop and ordered a large pizza. It was great, we just thought it was a little too saucey than normal and also the dough could have been crispier. The bathroom however to change your child blocks the stalls. Been here before a long time ago. They've renovated since then. There are lots of long tables in 2 rooms. It is a great place for big groups. As far as food goes- it was ok. Not bad - but not omg either. Salads are prepared in advance in a plastic bowl with plastic wrap around it with an individual dressing like you would get at a fast food restaurant. The pizza is in between a cornmeal crust and a medium thick crust. Wasn't bad- but I'd rather them go old-school thin cornmeal - or full-blown thick crust. My personal preference. Others may differ. They were generous with the toppings- almost to a fault. But the flavors were good, and the toppings were fresh. Definitely would come here with a group again. My husband and I just stopped in at Abby's in Newburg, which is our normal routine on the way home from Lincoln City Oregon. We were very disappointed. The pizza was literally thrown together. We ordered half Abby's special and a three meat. There were barely any toppings and when I took it up to complain, the darker haired older employee proceeded to argue with me about spacing out three toppings. Not ok! I never complain at restaurants and I worked at a pizza restaurant for a few years when I was younger. She argued with me and then asked me if I needed to talk to a manager. Mehh. The pizza is good, not great, but good. They have a decent beer selection. The dining room is spartan and LOUD... so very noisy and loud. There is no table service. You order at the counter, wait for your name to be called, then pick up your pizza at the counter. And yet they still nag you for tips. Speaking of waiting for your name to be called, the loudspeaker system is incomprehensible. Nobody can hear their name, and yet the staff wonder why pizzas stack up on the counter getting cold. Lost all of its charm. Idk who's idea it was to create a "fresh look" but good God... this is bad. This went from the best place to host a party or get together in all of Newberg to the most uncomfortable place in town. The bright atmosphere makes it unwelcoming, and they took out the fireplace. When I asked about the reason the manager said "no, we still have a fireplace" and proceeded to point to the tiny little wall fireplace (the type you would find in a residential home). It's sad to see such a staple of the community ruined by some "fresh" (probably woke) duface who knows nothing of the towns vibe and thought this would bring in more customers. Well when it got here it was $21.00+ something and it took an hour and twenty minutes for delivery. I love a well thought out pizza. One where it appears the recipe and cooks care about the quality and final product. I have seen Abby's when traveling through Newberg so I decided to give it a try. I ordered online which was easy enough then proceeded inside. The interior is similar to a roundtable, More modern with televisions all over and obnoxious patrons. Not someplace I would dine in. All pizza can only be truly judged as cheese only. Throwing on disgusting low quality greasy meats all over the thing ruins it. This pizza had a decent crispy crust. There was hardly any sauce and literally tons of cheese. It was like a volcanic flow of cheese. I can't imagine ordering extra cheese. You would literally stroke out on the spot. The pizza reminds me of a place back in my hometown so that automatically gave them extra points. I haven't been able to find any place like that until now. The crust to sauce ratio is on point. I love that the crust is on the thinner side bc it's crispy. They are not skimpy with the toppings and LOAD them on there. The pizza is a little pricey but in my opinion it's worth it. My husband and I went on a long drive and ended up in Newberg. We chose to eat here because they have gluten free crust. I ordered a personal pizza with a gluten free crust. If you go by the information on the website it looks like the slices are low calorie until you look at the size of them and see that they are teeny tiny (1/2 a normal size slice). The crust was standard for gluten free. Thin, crispy, did not taste like a glutenous crust but still palatable. They forgot my husbands order though -- a cheesesteak -- when he went to pick up his food and said it would take 45 minutes for him to get one. We ordered a half Abby's special , half beef taco. The crust was burned all around on the edges. There was no mozzarella cheese that was melted or gooey. The taco meat was all dried out. Neither side of the pizza has a good feature. The taco pizza toppings of lettuce, tomatoes and cheese came in a separate container. That will be good for salad starter tomorrow. The restaurant was not clean, trash containers overflowing, trash on the floor. Sorry, but this will be our first and last trip to the Gresham Abby's. read more

We've been to several Abby's locations and the Newberg store is probably the nicest inside (mostly due to the remodel.) Things were clean and the pizza was ready. Only things knocking it down from 5 stars is the fact they don't have chicken and spuds like other locations do and the access isn't great off Portland Road. read more

The remodel was a BIG mistake. The old-style pizza parlor was a LOT better. Places like Abby's, Shakey's and Round Table were the BEST. The pizza here is still good..hopefully they won't change that too. I worked at Shakey's Pizza in McMinnville during the mid-80's and it was great. Nothing like a Friday or Sat. night with a hundred people pouring in. Back before the woke "town council" in McMinnville banned cruising on Third Street. People back then would cruise around, then usually end up at Shakey's for pizza. Abby's in Newberg was similar. We need to bring all that back. If we can get Biden out of office, perhaps the pizza won't cost $35 anymore, and people can actually afford pizza delivery again. read more

If I could leave a negative 5 stars, I would. This was the worst service I have ever encountered. We walked in, never once got greeted, not even a hello. We got side eyed the entire time walking to a table to try to decide what we wanted as we grabbed our own menu from the counter. Still no one came over to us (we were the only people in the entire restaurant!) Beyond rude and disrespectful! We left and never even ordered. Once we got the pizza, we were glad we waited. It was absolutely delicious. Ate here a few too many times but who hasn't eaten pizza a few too many times? I digress Good pizza and they give you a freakin ton of toppings. If you like toppings, you're gonna like this place. If you like one piece of pepperoni per slice of pizza, you're not going to like this place. Reasonable prices but the 1-star dock is for the time it takes. I understand it takes a long time to cook, but it always takes longer than the estimated time... but you can solve that by hitting up the slot machines for a bit while you wait.
