Welcoming, lively inn on the water. I loved the sounds of children playing in the pool. Open yards provide seating, and there is a grill. In the back of the inn, there is river access and seats there as well. Everything was quiet at night, and we slept well. Not sure its worth $270 a night as it really could use some insulation and updating- but it was so cool and convenient to be able to watch the hot air balloons launch right on the property. The price is reasonable, and their breakfast is free with healthy options Pagliacci Pizza---Finding a good Pizza place in Washington State is like trying to find a Mariners highlight reel. It almost seems non-existent. Pagliacci Pizza seems to have this area's biggest pizza base. I would love to see someone top that. The prices are reasonable, and this is a popular spot for lunch. We snagged a room here for over the summer when we wanted to take a trip. We booked relatively last minute (few weeks in advance) so pickings we're slim - especially traveling with a dog. All in all, it did the trick and we had a good night sleep and the dog was able to come with us. The room itself was simple and a bit dated but it did have air conditioning and a decently comfortable bed. We originally also picked it because it had a pool but we were so busy exploring elsewhere we didn't have a chance to try it out. Checkin and checkout were easy, kids enjoyed breakfast and we opted to grab something in town to go. Location is close to the cure downtown strip, but probably not walkable. It's conveniently next to an open field which was good for the dog to run around. read more

There's nothing truly special about this hotel but it's not bad. We stayed for one night while traveling and our experience was ok. The person in the front office had our keys ready for us when we arrived and she got us checked in with no delay. Rooms, while nothing fancy, were spacious and clean. Bathroom is small but water pressure in the shower was great. Our room was on the top floor and had a small balcony. I imagine the balcony would be awesome in spring or summer but it was around 40 degrees when we were there so not fun to be sitting outside. Lobby area was nice - they have movies available that you can check out and watch in your room. They also serve breakfast. We were told at check-in that breakfast was served from 7AM - 10AM but unfortunately when we went to the lobby at 7 it was still locked and no one was there. There was a sign on the door indicating lobby hours started at 8AM so I'm guessing we were just told the incorrect time. We were not able to wait until 8AM for breakfast due to our travel schedule so we didn't get to try it. In the summertime they have a pool available. I think I saw a grill in the courtyard too. All in all this place is A-OK, nothing fancy, nothing bad. read more

Stayed here recently with a couple family members and my dog. First, the staff was super friendly and the breakfast was better than what you find at many fancy corporate-owned places Also, the room was clean and everything was in good condition, with no weird smells, even though it was a pet-friendly room. Stayed in a Travelodge the night before that had a gross smell the minute we walked in the door and was in poor condition, including a coffee pot that was cracked and had a larger at chunk of glass missing near the handle. It also had the wrong size lid. All that to say how much we appreciate the absence of those deficiencies at the Abby Creek Inn. I hope to bring my son and his family there Just to experience the motel and beautiful surroundings. read more

I had made a reservation through Priceline who I have used for several years. I made an error in the date cancelled it all in the same day. Priceline showed cancelled but somehow Abby Creek didn't and is charging me for the stay. Priceline reached out to Abby Creek and I did as well. Sarah was helpful but stated that the general manager is standing firm and no refund. I will not stay at Abby Creek ever and don't recommend it to anyone. We have stayed at AbbyCreek Inn multiple time this year. It is a super good value for the money! The location and staff our fantastic! The hotel itself is older but well kept. The rooms are very clean. Breakfast is really good. It comes with your room and you are not disappointed. The grounds are beautiful with lots of flower's. There is an upper and lower terrace in back along the river that we always spent our evenings at enjoying the view. Deer are always walking through the site as well. On our last visit we rented float tubes - they were $25 a person and the GM drives you into Winthrop and drops you off and you float down back to the hotel. If you don't stop it's a 30 min float though we stretched ours out finding little swimming holes to jump in. It was really fun for adults and kids. Highly recommend this place for a nice getaway that is very affordable. Cheers to the staff!! read more

This was a nice experience. We were first greeted by a polite and professional gentlemen at the front desk. We were in and out in 2 minutes, headed to our rooms. The room was clean and the air was crisp, a characteristic that seems to be a lot to ask for 'round these parts. Beds were comfortable and the A/C worked like a charm. They serve breakfast from 7-10 which is a very generous time table. A sweet gentleman who I assumed to be the cook due to his donning of an apron was refilling the sausages at damn near 9:50. They could have just stocked some muffins and bagels but they had cereal, waffle makers, eggs, a generous selection of tea, and more. Their laundry machine is ancient, but it did the trick. For some reason, my iPhone 13 could not connect to the wifi at all. Good thing I had data, and I won't remove a star for that because my friend was able to connect his phone and two laptops, so I'll chalk it up to an issue unique to my phone. I highly recommend this inn against the Airbnb hellscape. read more

We have a very mixed review of this hotel. It really depends upon what you want. We needed a dog friendly hotel so that it is which we appreciate. However, keep in mind that the price for one night at this hotel was $267 for us and our dog so that impacts the review a little. Facilities-wise it's not a $267 a night hotel, even with breakfast included. The rooms are old and need to be updated badly - although the bathrooms appear to have been done. There is little insulation so we listened to the kids run on the balconies above our room much of the night and they were loud so we thought it was a very loud hotel. For sleep quality it was poor. However, they did have a breakfast which was good. I really wish they would ditch the biscuits and gravy and put in more fresh fruit (bananas only), muffins and some cooked veggies you could put on the eggs. They also need some salsa because basic scrambled eggs could use something to help them. (or even ketchup). It did offer a few options and it's available which is nice. It's located on the river which is nice and has a good area behind it so if you want that it's a good choice. It does have a swimming pool and bbq. Parking is a little odd because it's along the sides of the hotel and in the back so you can get cars driving by your room whenever and parking right outside the rooms. We asked for a later checkout because they can't turn all rooms at once usually a hotel only has a few cleaning people and they extended it an hour but I really think they could have done more particularly since we heard lots of people checking out by 8 am so they could start on those rooms at 8 and didn't have to wait until 11 am. We do appreciate the extra hour. We would say amenities were good enough, nice that dogs can stay, it was actually VERY clean so we would have given it 4 stars but the lack of sleep due to the poor insulation and the cars driving by, etc. mean that no one slept so that really drops it and the cost. This is a nice hotel and it feels like they are working on fixing it up some, I think it's a fit for people with kids and dogs and sacrifice sleep anyway because they have young kids. :-) read more

Good place to stop for a night on our road trip to North Cascades NP! We stayed here after driving east through the park- it's right off Hwy 20 past the cute little town of Winthrop. The kids fought over who slept on the top bunk- needless to say, the bunk beds were a hit! Everything was clean, service was nice and the breakfast in the morning was convenient (eggs, cereals, waffles- and yummy biscuits and gravy!). If we had stayed more than one night, there was a lot to do here- bikes to use, pool & spa, cornhole and a fire pit area in the back. The only thing that keeps this from being a five star is that the mattresses and linens weren't the most comfy. But would stay here again!! read more

My family just spent three nights at Abby Creek Inn with our two dogs. We were supposed to be backpacking, but due to the heatwave, we decided to book a dog-friendly room with A/C and a swimming pool and day hike instead. The property is older, but very well maintained. Wow. New hot tub is awsome....and the carpet cleaned by Peaks and Valley is amazing. Also the most fun is they have tubbing in the summer. Van takes you up river drops you off and float back to the motel and get out. Dont forget to tip the driver. Also the refinished mini golf just out back is fun for all ages. Fire pits and barb-bqs...my all time favorite is the bikes to use. Just down the road icescating and access to trails. Good natured and friendly staff and owners. read more

I would give maybe 2.5 based on the mediocrity for the price of $191 a night. It was a solid $100/night place MAX. Beds were not comfortable. Nor were the pillows. No breakfast ("Due to Covid") No streaming services/ smartphone options for TV. Just a really basic room.. so it's insane to me, that they think they can charge this much for a room just because it's a busy place on the weekends. We should have found somewhere else, instead of caving because we were exhausted. read more

I had some mixed feelings about our stay--we chose this location for some specific amenities, and had we known that they would not be available to us, we probably would've stayed elsewhere. We loved that this place is pet friendly. We take our dog with us just about everywhere, and the number of places that do not allow dogs makes it challenging for us. The room was older, but clean. The walls are paper thin, and I could hear my neighbor's cell phone buzzing through the wall. That was less than pleasant, but I survived. The thing that probably irritated me the most was that the WiFi doesn't work. It'll connect, but if you try to do ANYTHING, it doesn't work. I tried something as simple as visiting a website, and it wouldn't load. I called the front desk to ask for help (I was planning on working remotely for a couple of days during our trip), and she basically confirmed that it doesn't work, and it's just like that. The second piece of it is that the breakfast was not available due to COVID. Okay, totally understandable, but if you're taking COVID precautions, then why are your office staff not wearing masks? Why are grab and go items not available (like yogurt or fruit, for example)? Based on this experience, we probably wouldn't return. read more

I had a good feeling initially about this place when I called ahead to confirm my reservation as the man on the phone was really nice (J). That was just a dream. Checked in, paid, and the key didn't work so I headed back down to the office. Waiting in line was incredibly slow (20 min) and I felt bad for the young boy manning the front desk as it really wasn't his fault the hotel had a really, old outdated computer dial up system. A trucker two people ahead of me was complaining loudly about the fluctuating rates and the boy offered him a AAA discount. I had AAA and wasn't offered the discount. The customer directly in front of me picked up on this and said he had AAA so he got his discount. I asked about getting my discount so the boy had to fetch the manager/owner (J). He processed my payment at the discounted rate and walked off, apparently irritated at cheapskates staying at his Inn. When I inquired to make sure my credit card was not charged twice, J. was very abrupt and dismissive of my concerns and spoke hotel language to me, stating my charge would not be batched...what is a batch? I don't work in a hotel! He was apparently talking to a very uneducated person who didn't know what a batch was and I could tell he was even more irritated but I stuck to my guns and asked him for a receipt and he said he couldn't do that because it would cost him more money if he had to cancel and re-process the payment so I had him write me up a receipt, which angered him even more given his attitude. The room on the second floor had a strong smell of mold and dust but appeared clean but there were a lot of flying bugs camping out on the bathroom ceiling. I didn't want to complain as the manager/owner was already mad at me. I lugged up a bunch of heavy suitcases to the second floor (no elevator). When we returned back from our outing in the sleepy town of Winthrop (skip it if you can), there was a wasp in our room, which I had to quickly dispatch with a smack of a slipper as my son was freaking out like the world was going to end. The pillows smelled badly of body odor so I told my son to put his towel over it and I did the same. Eleven PM comes and I could hear the conversation of a woman in the bathroom in the next room as well as her dog yapping. The A/C worked good but pushed the smell of mold all around the room even more. The ice machine and laundry are on the second floor. Washer and dryer looked rusted and ancient but at least this place had them. Breakfast was uncomfortable as the cramped front office served as the makeshift breakfast/dining area. Oranges, apples and bananas were in a basket up front. Dry cereals, weak coffee, orange juice, milk, bagels, toast, yogurt and some boiled eggs. We took our breakfast back to the room and ate in there as there was no place to sit. The Wi-Fi was weak and sketchy. Dropped connection frequent times it wasn't worth the trouble. The only ray of sunshine this place had was the nice lady at the check out desk. She greeted us warmly and said "goodbye". Goodbye it was. This whole experience ruined my idea of a cute little town with friendly people (none of which were true - plus in the summer months I hear the yellow jacket wasps are EVERYWHERE in Winthrop, which they were in force) Price for one night including taxes $91.00 with AAA discount. To be fair, I did not stay at the Abby Creek Inn because after making a reservation and receiving a confirmation, the experience on the phone with Josh made me change my mind. As frequent travellers, we know that a wonderful staff can make up for a mediocre property. And that a poor experience with a staff member can make the best property not so stellar. That was the experience we had with Josh. Needing an overnight stay in Winthrop due to business, my partner and I found a great rate on booking at Abby Creek Inn. We immediately booked three rooms (to accommodate our third partner). We received an email right away confirming our reservation. We understand when glitches happen and apparently the price of the booking was listed incorrectly. But the phone call we received from Josh and the conversation was anything but pleasant. We initially asked to him to honor the rate at which we reserved. But Josh refused to do that nor did he offer any other sort of discount for the trouble of having to cancel and rebook. When I explained that I felt that we were experiencing poor customer service and that I was documenting it in order to write a review or follow up with senior management, he said raised his voice and said "Do not threaten me!". I explained that it wasn't a threat. That I was letting him know that I am a firm believer in customer service experiences and also someone who believes in fair reviews in order to help people make decisions on where to give their business. Josh continued to berate me for 'traveling during a stay-at-home order'. We were traveling for business, which really was none of his business since they are open, but to assume that we were doing anything else was wrong and Josh was trying to shame or scold me over the phone. I would think that people working in the hotel industry would be welcoming any business with open arms, but Josh at the Abby Creek Inn did not demonstrate someone who works in the hospitality business. No luck and she said "sorry I don't know what else to do." When I was checking the plug I found that there were at least 7 plugs into a single outlet using extension cords and power strips. i was very disappointed with our stay. We booked 2 nights and ended up leaving the second night at 9pm to drive 4 hours home because the beds were so uncomfortable and the air condition couldn't keep up. The TV didn't work, the phone didn't work. They didn't offer breakfast (due to covid) even though there are no restrictions stopping them. This review is based on the three staff members we interacted with on our stay. Two of them were friendly and helpful (short haired brunette and redhead), but if you have to interact with the third (grumpy long-haired brunette) then good luck to you! She was unpleasant and unfriendly and I wonder why someone like her would work in the hospitality industry. 5 star for the other two, 0 stars for her. If you're looking for a room with fruit flies, no television, lounge chair and stuff bed, you need not look further. Killed a dozen or more fruit flies or what looks like fruit flies, including the one that went up my nose. I think they allow pets. I think there might be better choices closer to town. Whoa boy. You just never know what you get when you make a last minute reservation. This place was.... more like a MO-tel. The guests alone, or maybe the air conditioners hanging on the outsides of rooms making all kinds of racket and may be the very first A/C's ever produced. All the rooms surround the courtyard and pool, that maybe at one time, wasn't so ghetto fab. I saw 4 stars on Yelp, in hindsight, I should've investigated further. After getting the keys to the room, which were in an envelope on the outside of the check-in window with my last name marked there clear as day, we parked around back and were a bit disgusted by our neighbor inhabitants. We walk in, and the room has a funk to it. The carpets are still quite dirty. Maybe the vacuums blow out dirt instead of sucking. The shower curtain looked cute all posted up origami style, and there were plastic enclosed plastic cups for drinking. The bedding was gross with pet hair all over them. If I hadn't been so tired I would have complained, but there's no one in the office to complain to. Office people leave early. How convenient for them. The furnishing have been there since before I was born. For $180 a night, I expected a lot more. The outside patio view was to be desired. The chairs were plastic and there was a pile of wax residue (from someones sexxxxy night probably) on the ground out there. The beds were downright awful and squeaky, the pillows, just as rough (need an exfoliated face?) I will never stay here again or recommend it to anyone. Abysmal customer service. Our room was fine and met our needs. However, the customer service was rude and put the onus of their mistakes on us, the customer. We were told verbally twice that we could checkout out at 1PM without extra fee. At 11:54 we received a call that we needed to be out by 12, giving us only 6 minutes to get out!! They were unwilling to own their mistake and even hung up on me while I was trying to discuss alternative. The pool also had gross green algae growing in it. Absolutely disgusting. Do no stay here, find somewhere that won't treat you like dirt and knows how to clean their pool. read more

Hands down the worst hotel I have stayed at in decades. Front desk staff are openly hostile. They definitely shouldn't be in the hospitality industry. Out of 6 staff members (including the owner) only one had any interest in being hospitable to their customers. In a week I saw housekeeping once. The rooms are dirty, floors are filthy, stained. This hotel is very noisy and desperately in need of updates. Daylight showing around every door, you can hear conversations in ALL adjoining rooms. Had to ask three times for toilet paper. Winthrop is adorable but Abbey Creek Inn is the worst travel experience I have had in a long time. If you want sleep this is not the hotel to stay at. read more

Excellent family motel. The facility is just fine, with sparkling clean, reasonably-sized rooms. But what impressed me more was the superb customer service. They work very hard to make a good experience. Clearly favored by families with lots of kids, there is a good, complementary breakfast with biscuits, gravy, delicious coffee, cereal, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. They have a nice swimming pool, propane grills and picnic tables, bikes to use free of charge, shuttle service to the center of town (one mile), DVDs to borrow, fridge and microwave in every room, and a very reasonable price. We will stay here whenever visiting Winthrop. read more

The hotel is clean both inside and outside. The breakfast was decent and the staff very helpful. The building is old. Creaking floors, sink pulled away from the wall and ready to fall off, same for the towel bar and the toilet seat was broken. Thin walls that you can hear through. Paid for an upgraded room. The sheets were worn and the mattress was ok but had minimal padding. The room was small, just enough room to walk around. Expensive for the quality of stay. read more

We wanted to spend some time hiking in the North Cascade area to see the larches, so we booked two nights at this motel. The person at the front desk was very pleasant when we checked in. Due to Covid, we were not allowed to go into the office building, but had to stand outside their office window to check in. The office person came outside of the office to give us our key. The room was dated but clean and comfortable. We knew there was no breakfast available at this time but there was a fridge and microwave in the room so we brought food with us. We did find that the we couldn't rely on the internet to be working properly, most of the time. And the air conditioning unit was loud at times. Also, the pool was open and there were kids splashing and shouting a bit early in the morning right outside out door. Our last morning there, the power went out over the entire area so getting ready in a dark bathroom was a challenge. The office was unable to print out our bill due to no power but they did send it by email as soon as the power was back on. However, we had a fairly good experience. read more

I am not one to typically leave reviews, especially not negative ones. We were staying at this hotel with a group July 12 & 13. We were sitting in the common area the first night and noticed someone trying to get in our door. Ignored that until someone from the office came with a key. I went over and told her that was our room, she asked our name and I told her. Its a common last night so I thought that was an honest error. The next night, however, we were lying on the bed around 8 pm and someone with a key walked into our room. I contacted the hotel after we returned via email and they never bothered to reach out with an apology or anything. Pretty creepy and I won't be going there again! read more

This place deserves 5 stars! The staff is very welcoming and the rooms are super clean! We decided not to stay too long due to the air quality from the wild fires nearby. We definitely recommend this place! The town is super cute! We also went and did the lazy river rafting thing! It's was super fun and we defiantly recommend it! Although the river was low so we got stuck on the rocks every once in a while we will defiantly be coming back here sometime in the future earlier in the summer when there is no fires and the river is deeper! read more

We stayed at this hotel with two kids for a team event. We had hoped it would be a fun weekend. It rapidly became a frustrating experience as a result of this facility. We got there at night. The keys were taped to the door for us. We were able to get into our room easily. The sidewalks were shoveled and mostly clean. Which I was pleased with since it was very icey. The parking lot was a mess. But this was expected. When we got to our room it was pretty clean and there was an extra blanket for warmth. That was about the best of it. The bathroom was a nightmare! The door would not close unless we faught to lift it up. The toilet would not flush with anything in it. In the morning we expressed this concern to the staff. They tried to plunge it. It didn't work. The toilet was a massive issue our entire trip! At one point it over flowed twice, soaking the clothes needed for the next day. Again the staff was made aware. I requested the laundry room they advertised to wash the toilet water soaked clothes. They informed me the drier was broken but I could try it. Mind you I had to pay for this...even though it was broken. They sent me with a toilet plunger. Never was a new room or discount offered to us. They blew us off. It was very frustrating. Especially since the last place we stayed was $100 less a night for much better service. (We were with a team or would have left.) On top of all that we were over charged by $137. But they couldn't give us a refund for a couple days because the manager was gone. We were told they would contact us about this... Never happened. The front desk lady was also incredibling rude and snapped at the kids. Making comments about the waffle maker and accidental messes. All in all this was a nightmare.
