Luckily I came in before noon since they don't do oil changes after 12pm. So if you need just an oil change, COME IN BETWEEN 9am-12pm! My brakes were making a weird groaning sound and i feared the worst (total brake replacement, etc). I read about Abbott on Yelp and decided to call them based on the good reviews. The Abbott guy on the phone said that they didn't charge for brake inspection and that to replace the front brake pads and resurface the rotors would be about $130. Other places that I called wanted between $20-$60 to just check out the brakes. And, the cost for replacing the brakes at other places ranged from $165 to $325 (Piercey Toyota). In the end, they checked out my brakes and said that everything was still working fine. My visit to Abbott cost me nothing. I thought they were honest, professional and pretty nice. These guys are great. Honest, efficient, inexpensive, and very good at what they do. I've had problems with my Jetta that even the 2 local VW dealerships couldn't figure out, and they were able to fix. I've been coming here ever since. I also love their location. They are right by the Great Mall Lightrail station, near several bus stops. So you can drop off you car, take the train or bus to work or wherever you want, then come pick up your car at the end of the day. Or you can just hang out at the mall. read more

I went in this moment because there was a rattling sound coming from my car. I was worried that I wouldn't be seen because i didn't call beforehand but they were able to see me within 15 minutes. They diagnosed the problem (brake pads needed replacement) and my car was ready in 2 to 3 hours. They were very honest and upfront and gave great customer service. Unfortunately a rat chewed through my blinker wires. Fortunately this place got my wires fixed in about 20 minutes and I was ready to go. Great service, gave me an accurate estimate I was happy with. The wires were in a hard to reach place behind the battery and venting tubes in my car. Other places I've gone to told me it would take 3 hours and gave me very expensive estimates. I was searching for a good place for oil change and came across this one. The service was pretty fast and only $25 for oil change. Some other auto service guy told me that i need power steering oil change so i wanted second opinion and get it changed but Abbott auto service guy told me that I do not need it. I felt the guy was honest as if he wanted to make money, he could have asked me to get the oil change. I will certainly visit this place if i need some more service. read more

I have to reinforced the good reviews about these guys at Abbott. The shop is usually full with cars being worked on but if you call in before and Thoi says he's got time to work on it then he'll usually try to fit something in if it's a quicky. Like today I went to get my headlamp replaced and i was in and out of there within 15 minutes. He also gave me suggestions about my road vibration problem (basically the tire installer didn't do a good job of balancing the tires) So I will go back to them again. After looking at reviews of auto repair shops on Yelp, I took my 1999 Plymouth Voyager into Abbott Auto Service to have the transmission fluid changed. While I usually do all my own car maintenance, this job entails removing the gasket-sealed cover, disposing of the 5 quarts of transmission fluid, cleaning and re-gasketing the cover plate, replacing the filter within the transmission, and replacing the transmission fluid. For the quoted $110, this seemed a job for someone who's not me! Abbott Auto service and Thoi did a quick and excellent job while I waited about 30 minutes. I was helped as I came in the door as I'd called earlier. Couldn't have been better service, and a reasonable cost. I'd recommend Abbott Auto Service heartily. - Matt read more

My husband and I took our 2003 Acura RSX here for a new clutch. We have never been more satisfied with an auto repair shop. My husband called and was given an estimate over the phone and was told he needed to make an appointment for the service. He made one that was about 3 business days out. We dropped the car off the night before for our convenience, then dropped the keys off the next morning. My surprised husband received a call @ 5:30 that evening to report it was finished and we could come get it anytime before 7:00 p.m. When we paid the bill it was for the exact amount of the estimate my husband was given over the phone. They did exactly what they were asked to do just like they said they would with no surprises. The price was fair and they were very effecient. I highly reccomend this place. read more

Thoi and his crew are the best! Heard about Abbott from the smog station many years ago when I had a hole in my exhaust. I remember it well - he gave me the bill and I said, okay how much after you add labor? and he said that's the total cost. A bunch of brake jobs done well and cheaply, repaired an EGR valve so I could pass smog, batteries, a bunch of other little stuff. I'm writing this now because he just fixed a nagging problem with my front suspension - I had struts put in less than a year ago, and he suspected these and changed them as they were still under warranty. That was not the problem however, and he ended up changing a sway bar linkage thingy that fixed it. He only charged me for the parts and labor for the necessary repair. My faithful RAV4 handles like new again!!! I'll echo Dave S. - A mechanic you can trust. It's nice to not have to stress out when car trouble pops up. read more

My car died on the freeway in September 2018. I got it towed to Abbot Auto Service. My car was kept for two days with no update what was going on. I had to call many times. Thoi gave me a run around. He said the engine was just bad and need to be replaced. He gave me a quote that I could not afford. So I got it towed back. I hired a mechanic from my dealership and the most devastating news was announced to me. My car was getting a regular oil than synthetic which was a requirement for the type of my car that was why my car died. All the while I thought Abbot Auto Service was honestly servicing my oil change only to find out they were putting regular oil to damage my car. For two years I was taking my car to Abbot Auto Service. And I was paying for synthetic. If you wont believe me, 3 weeks after my car died, my friend's car died as well. The same diagnosis. Guess what? She was also getting her oil change at Abbott Auto Service. This is outrageous. Beware! Take your car to a reliable shop. read more

These guys are really nice, I had a bad smell in engine bay and cannot figure out what it is for a few weeks, bring it to Abbott and get a car lifted, turns out to be a dead mice hrrr..... anyway they helped me removed it for NO CHARGE, although it took them for about 20mins. They also identified a water pump leaking issue during inspection. I will definitely going back for future mechanical issue as these guys are honest and reasonable. read more

Good for small work like oil change but do not recommended for major maintenance. I did 120K service here with lot money spent and it is not satisfactory. Even for major maintenance they quote too much and I went with different auto shop in Santa Clara which was very satisfactory and $200 cheaper. I should not have 120K service done with Abbott even dealer price was just $100+ than Abbott. Overpriced for major maintenance - minus 1 star Not happy with 120K service - minus 1 star I lost valuable money, time and car performance - minus 1 star read more

Got a nail in one of the tire. All the shops I am familiar with are either not open or too crowded. Out of desperation, looked up yelp and found this one nearby and so decided to give a try. I'm quite impressed with how thorough they are even for a small problem like this but still very quickly done. All tires properly filled with air. Great service and honest people. I took my wife's car for an oil change. The owner took a look at the oil level and he recommended not to change the oil since the car hasn't been driven much since the last oil change. I always take my car there for repairs. I got my brake service done and almost save $200 compared to the estimate from Firestone. I highly recommend Abbott. The only downside is that you need to go in early. It gets pretty crowded and parking is an issue if you don't get there early. I wish they could keep the shop open on Sundays as well. read more

All I can say is that this place is, "EXCELLENT!!!" I finally found an honest and reliable auto service place. Great customer service, very cheap, and honest. They discovered that Jiffy Lube didn't replace my oil filter when they changed my oil last. Abbott only charged my $25 while Jiffy Lube is charging almost $40 now. Don't get ripped off!
