Then after a lot of searching, I found Abbott on Yelp about a year ago! My experiences since, have been great. I do not even think of other auto service stations. Thoi (the manager) of Abbott is an extremely friendly and knowledgeable guy. He always tells you upfront on what he perceives the issue to be (be it good news or bad). I've been to Abbott with some pretty complicated issues, which they've fixed to my satisfaction. They are very honest and never try to over-sell stuff to you. The prices are very nominal too. Just came back from Abbotts for an oil change. Their shop was super easy to find and they had a pretty big sign that was easy to spot from the road. I came in at 8:58am. I was surprised that there were already two cars ahead of me. The shop opens at 9am! I asked how long the wait was and the guy said 20 mins. Not too bad I thought. I sat and played games while I wait. By 9:25am they asked for my keys to work on my car. By 9:35am my car was already done and by 9:40am I was already on the road on my way home! They're super quick and there's no nonsense about it. Walk in, ask for an oil change, they tell you the wait. Next thing you know you're already done! I paid $50 for a full synthetic oil for my Honda Accord 2014. Definitely coming back! read more

I took my 1997 Nissan Sentra in to install a few parts (Front crankshaft seal, water pump, and thermostat) before heading to work this Thursday morning and the whole process was straight-forward and simple: I told the technician what parts I wanted installed, he asked for some information about the car to provide an estimate, and I went on my way after agreeing to the price and leaving my contact information (It's nice to see how they accommodate walk-ins like that). Everything was complete before the workday ended so that gave me time to get back to the shop to pick up the car and drive back to work. This was my first time coming to an auto shop for service and I'm glad they made it an easy experience. I was scared they would try and sell me on some other services, but that did not happen thankfully. The only small inconvenience I had was that they couldn't pick up the phone later on in the day when I tried calling for any status updates, though they will call you back to let you know the work is done so that still works for me. Seems like the other reviews all mention the same advice that I followed and would reiterate as well: come in at an early time and bring your own parts if you can to make the process faster. Looks like I got lucky coming in right when they opened on a weekday since I didn't see any line, heh. Looking forward to bringing my car back here for any further services and repairs :) read more

I couldn't even leave out of the place without writing a review. these guys know exactly how to get to work. i first came in here a bout three weeks ago and they told me i was not ready for an oil change. i return today and they pulled the car in, fixed it in 20 minutes. by then my turn signal had also gotten broken and since i had the part already, they fixed that too and now its brand new. get this. its been thirty minutes. that means they went in the dash under the steering wheel column, put the new switch and motor in, and did the oil change in 30 MINUTES!!!!!!! It was mainly my fault for giving the wrong direction whenever i take it to a shop to get it fixed, however, this is the only place that was detail enough to actually figure out i've been giving the wrong direction the whole time. They don't let you drop off car: I was willing to drop of the car to pick up any time during the day later. Was told I can-not drop off car. I have to wait in at the shop while they work. If I drop off and come back later, I will just have to get in line again and wait. B. Hard to talk to them: There is no one on front desk. The guy will talk to you while working on the the car. Firstly I would like to correct one of previous post, the owner Mr Thoi is a Vietnamese, not Chinese, and he does not speak Chinese. It is true that the shop does not have a nice sofa, and have bikini calendar which I do not like much either. But I go there to fix my car, not to have a cup of coffee. Anyway, if if some people walk away from this place for these reasons, it might be a good thing to me because I do not have wait in line. Few days ago I firstly went to a Toyota dealer with a coupon for complimentary engine code check because my check engine light was on two days ago. The dealer said that although the check result which is a four digit number is free, he will charge me $135 for the diagnostic. "Wait", I said, "but then you have not done anything to fix it yet". The dealer explained he had to pay the highly-trained technicians for their time, and the $135 will be credited back if I have the car repaired there. So I tried Abbott. Mr Thoi used a portable computer and found it was caused by a loose gas cap. He tightened it and reset the check engine light. And it is FREE. Indeed he had done several check-up for me and my wife for FREE. read more

I went in to get a quote to fix my bumper. The rear bumper was hanging out. I had gone to another shop which had quoted $100 to drill a new hole and screw it in. But these guys, they looked at it, went it to get the screw driver, made some adjustments and screwed it back in. That's it, it was fixed! I have driven around 100 miles since then and there have been no issues. When I asked how much to pay, they said nothing! ( I still went ahead and tipped ) I am so glad I found this shop. I brought my car and my gf's car here in the past for brake jobs and minor services such as oil change. My previous experience was ok since their price is fair. But I was never there to witness the job they had performed. Well today, I took my car in for oil change . Since there weren't a lot of car so they were able to work on it right the way. When the car was lifted I was inspecting my tires. I noticed the inside of my front tires were wearing bad so I demanded for one side rotation. At first, the tech, a shorter guy (not the owner) was unwilling to do it, told me "It's ok no need." But I insisted on doing it since I setup my car to have a little bit of negative chamber in the front (for cornering performance.), and I do not want the tire pop on the freeway or chewing down to the steel belt prior to getting replacement. So he lifted the car up again and took off the nuts(with air gun) and rotated the tires and proceeded to tighten the nuts with the air gun again. I stopped him immediately, as that's not the correct way to do it. I instructed him that he should use a torque wrench since air gun might cause the nuts to strip and/or damage to the studs. He refused my request and told me " You do not need that, this is the correct way(airgun). We do not do that here". He then called over the other mechanic a taller guy and started yelling in Vietnamese. The other guy also said the same thing and fed me excuses like " We worked on a lot of bimmer/benz and did the same (incorrect) way, no need to do this, we do not do it here." The owner happened to overheard the conversation and proceeded to told me the exact same thing and that would charge me more because it's a lot harder. Seriously? I mean all you have to do is tighten the nut /w hands, lower the car then lock them with the torque wrench, that's A LOT harder? All other shops do this, the customer should not need to request for it. It's the BASIC and STANDARD procedures. The same thing should be done to all drain plugs/suspension etc. Hell, I had to tell them not all cars use the same torque, I specifically requested 75lbs for my car. Even after I told them all that, the mechanic /owner still refused to do it and told me " No, we do not do it here". lol. In end, after the owner chatted with them in Vietnamese(shit talking), he told me they would only do it for me this time and not in the future. lol. Also when the guy was doing the oil change, he just refilled the engine oil and never checked the dipstick. Although I believe he has done this long enough and he is confident about his skills, but just because I told you it uses 4.5 q doesn't mean you can just refill without checking the dipstick? lol. Anyways, I am not a little picky bitch who likes to whine and give local business a hard time on small things. Especially, I believe this place is not completely bad. But seriously, when a customer try to educate you about your wrong doing, you should at least listen, instead of telling them to shut off and they are wrong(Guess what, I used to work on cars myself during college year and competed in professional races). Also, do not curse in Viet in front of your customers, because I bet many ppl would know what DU MA means even though they are not Vietnamese. Am I making a big fuss outta this whole NUTS issue? I was referred to this place by my friend who warned me that their Vietnamese accent is very thick and you wont be able to understand them. However, their service is superb and they do not try to rip you off. My friend also said to come early on Saturday right when it opens because it gets busy and it may not be serviced the same day. I came here to get my AC fixed because it was blowing warm. I arrived at 10am on a Saturday and people were already dropping off their cars. I drove up to the place and all of the workers were not attentive and did not acknowledge me. It wasnt until the owner came by that I was able to get assistance. He said that he needed to check out and examine the car and he would call in three hours to let me know what the problem was and the quote. He called and let me know that the freon needed to be replaced for $70. I am not an expert on cars but I read online that you can get a kit for $60 and you can do it yourself. I dont even know how to do that, so I agreed on the price. It seemed fair and to the point. The car was ready at 4pm and the workers were still inattentive and did not acknowledge me. Thank goodness for the owner who can understand me and I can somewhat understand him. I may come back here to service my car since my AC now works and they dont seem to rip off their customers. **TIPS** 1) Hours on Yelp and their own website are not correct. My check engine light came on and I immediately thought the worst. And it came on a Monday. I need to get to work and didn't want to take time off to take care of it. I Yelped local shops that were in the area and open later. This place closes at 6pm weekdays. I was stoked I could take care of it after work and drove my car over after I got back in town from work. I was expecting a larger auto shop but this place was smaller and houses about two to three cars. I came on around 5pm and a couple of people were being helped by who I think is the owner. He asked me what I needed help with and I told him the issue. He told me it would be about 15-20 min and if I wanted to have a seat. I didn't mind since I came late in the day and he was helping others. It was finally my turn and he took my keys and went to check my car. He came back about 10min later and stated I had a sensor that needed to be replaced but I could still drive my car with no problems. He gave me a quote but said it might be different since he'd need to order the part. He didn't even charge me to check my check engine light which was nice. Absolutely horrendous customer service. Very very rude, disrespectful and very unprofessional. My check engine light came on. OBD reader said there's an issue with the O2 sensor and EVAP purge valve. Took the car here, the first guy takes a look, resets the check engine light and asks me to drive a little and come back if it turns on again. I took it for a ride and the check engine light came on again. So as per his suggestion, i brought it back. This time there was the main guy. He takes down my number and tells me he'll take a look. After 2 days, the main guy calls and says he needs to talk to me and to come over to the shop. I ask him to explain. He doesn't. Keeps repeating the same thing. I ask him for a quote. He gives me nothing. I ask him what's wrong. Again nothing useful. I finally go to the shop and the guy says I need to drive the car for a 100 mile before he can diagnose the problem!! Gets angry when I ask him questions. I took my keys and walked out. The hassle is not worth the money you save here. read more

After having a bunch of work done on my truck in the East bay (as that is where I work) I was driving home to San Jose one day when my truck died. I took it to Abbott since they were close, and they found that the previous mechanics had left the wires hanging (from replacing them after doing a tune up) and the wires were sitting flush against the exhaust manifold so heating up and melting. He charged me a very minimal price and told me to take it back and have them correct this problem as I should not have to pay for the other mechanics sloppy work. I am so pleased with the honesty and professionalism and feel totally trusting of this auto repiar to take my truck here from now on for repairs. I highly recommend them. read more
