Abbey Road Salon is the greatest salon ever!!! All of their stylists are fantastic and do such a great job. I have straight hair but got bored with the "straight" cut and wanted to try something a little different... without the fear of having the haircut turn out horrible or it not being right for my face. Needless to say I just walked into Abbey Road one day and took a very big chance (after the recommendation of a friend of course) and instantly fell in love. The stylists here are willing to work with you and you'll get a cut that fits you and your style. You always walk out looking like a Hollywood star!!! I absolutely love Peter and this other guy with salt and pepper hair - fantastic! I've never had my hair colored there but my mother did once and she looked so good. I think breaking up with your long time stylist is worse than losing a boyfriend. Both my husband and I used the same girl for our hair for the last five+ years and all of the sudden, this spring, she quit returning our calls to set up appointments. I was brokenhearted. I was also scared. This meant I had to find a new stylist. New stylists scare me. I have long, curly hair that I like to call 'The Beast'. The Beast doesn't make friends with everybody. She takes finesse and love. Well, I found myself in dire need of a trim and I decided just to rely on the interwebs to find somewhere new to try. I found Abbey Road. It had a couple of good reviews here on Yelp, the prices seemed fine per their webpage, and it's not far from my house. I called and scheduled an appointment with Leslie this morning. Off I went! Leslie seems like a very nice lady. She's British, as are many of the stylists at Abbey Road (shocking, right?). But, that's all I can really say. I told her I didn't really want a lot off - maybe an inch and a half and some shaping, but I'd let her decide how much needed to come off since she's the expert. She apparently decided I really only needed about half an inch off, saying that really my hair looked good. So, she trimmed it up and I asked her if she would blow it out - since I normally get my hair blown out whenever I get it cut. I am too lazy to straighten it myself at home.. it's a lot of hair! She told me.. "I'll do my best" uuuuh. Okay. She said she only had an hour. My old girl could blow my hair out perfectly in about 45 minutes, maybe less, so I figured she'd be fine. I was wrong. This has to be the worst blow out I ever had. She loaded my hair down with a TON of product, leaving it super greasy, but still rather poofy and not completely straight. The frustrating thing is I felt I had no choice but to say it was fine, even though I truly wasn't happy with it. Plus, I left her a $10 tip on top of the $60 I got charged. I just had to flat iron my hair to make it more presentable and I don't love the idea that I paid $70 this morning, only to come home and do my own damn hair. Fail. This is not my new hair home.. I'll continue to look out for someone new. read more

Love the theme of this salon! Everytime I am there, they are always playing my favorite Beatles song, "Here Comes the Sun." Love The Beatles and The Royal Family memorable in the salon. I was first introduced to the salon through Groupon, and have been desperatly trying to find a stylist that understood my natural hair color. I had Leslie, and she is the first stylist that understood what needed to be done to my hair to enhance my blonde and camoflauge my mousy brown hair. She was very professonal and a joy to have. Didn't have to tell her too many details. My hair turned out fantastic, and I have been a continue customer since my first visit. Pricing is reasonable as well. She is a delight to talk to as well, and has a wonderful memory. It was lots of fun chatting about Downton Abbey. read more

After getting a truly terrible haircut from another stylist at another salon, I came in with uneven blunt bangs. I called Abbey Road hoping they could squeeze me in to maybe fix them and They set up an appointment with Gregor. Gregor was amazing! He was so pleasant and professional,. He gave me a few ideas in how to fix my bangs and took a lot of time talking about what would work with my hair texture. After a deep conditioning treatment, he fixed my bangs which now look FABULOUS! I have quite the mop (it's thick and curly) and Gregor blow dried my hair so that it looked like I'd flat Ironed it! I've been going back ever since and Gregor really understands how I want my hair cut and I always leave looking fabulous! Since then, my mom and her friend have both gone to see Gregor and they've both absolutely loved their hair! read more

I have, or had, really long hair. A friend of mine has been going here for a long time and has great hair. Her guy was unavailable for months but was told everyone here was good. They're not. Instead of the 1/2 inch he showed me with the first cut, that I agreed to, I proceeded to have nearly 3 inches (not exaggerating) cut off of my hair. In chunks. That's going to take a really long time to try to grow back. I'm really disappointed with the cut too. It's pretty awful and I'll probably have to go somewhere else and loose a little bit more length to get it looking decent. My hair is/was long enough and super easy to cut. I think because it was so long he took the liberty to experiment with techniques that can't be done on any other hair and the result was a huge loss of length and a haircut that's mistakes can't even be hidden with a pony tail. It's just random chunks of blunt cut outs in my hair. I can't find any way to hide the awkwardness of the cut. I'm super disappointed and really upset that I'm going to have lose even more length to try to get it to fall even somewhat nicely. The vibe here is cool but I won't go back. I hate that it'll probably take close to a year to get the length back, maybe more now that it'll most likely take several haircuts to get a decent shape back into it. *sigh there goes a year of having awkward, shorter hair I'll hate. I think the stylist knew it was bad too because he couldn't even look me in the eye and rushed me out of the salon after I lost a lot of hair in the "styling process" of having the brush and curling iron stuck in my hair a ripped out a few times. Really bad cut. Really not what I wanted. Really upset/disappointed. My friend still has really cute hair though. :/ it'll just be a long road before I get there. read more

I was in desperate need of a haircut, yet broke at the same time. I have my usual hair dresser I go to at Toni & Guy (Paul is great!!!), but just didn't even have the money yet to go there this weekend. I found a Groupon for this place and decided to just this ONCE go out my comfort zone and try someone new. I normally do not go with a new hair dresser unless I move or my hair dresser moves. Because I have quite a few credits with Groupon I took a chance and purchased the deal. I was given Bill, a new hair dresser there. I would have to say I was a little skeptical of the place because when I walked in, I saw nothing but older folks. Somewhere in their late 40s to early 60s getting their hair done. Not just the customers, but the staff as well. I have to admit, I'm in my mid 20s, so I'm going to go to a Salon with people around my age group because they tend to know what is trendy and in style at the moment. I usually am not comfortable with experimenting with my hair and allowing someone new chop so much off, but for some reason I was in a spontaneous mood. My hair was about 11 inches long when I walked in and I left the place about 2-2 1/2 inches shorter...which is not a bad thing. Onto my ACTUAL review of the place now. Bill did a great job. He is an older man and worked a little slower. Nothing wrong with that. I guess I'm just used to someone who is younger and goes faster. Overall, he did a fantastic job with my hair. He took his time and made sure he understood what I wanted. He went over the details of my hair first before starting anything to make sure we were on the same page. I appreciate that very much bcause sometimes hair dressers assume they know what you want, but then the results are different. Bill was such a nice gentleman. We had a pleasant conversation about our background and all that...you know the usual talk at a hair salon. Bill was so sweet and kind and so nice to talk to. Again, he did a fantastic job and I would recommend him. If you're someone who wants to take the hair experience easy and would like someone to have a easy going convo with, Bill is your man. I had a good time there. My only downside would be that there was too much product put in my hair. I don't mind it so much, but it was placed at the top of my head which is where it gets the most oily. I would have preferred it on the ends of my hair. That is something fixable though when you get your hair done. I didn't expect it, but will be sure to inform them the next time I return. Good staff and nice and relaxing compared to your typical noisy salon...and it's not in the mall! =) Oh and his wife Leslie, who also works there, does color. She was so nice! read more

There is nothing more annoying than wasting your time and money with a hair dresser that doesn't listen or care about what you want. I had been going to this salon when I first moved to Dallas and had a great hair dresser, but eventually stopped coming here b/c of issues with the front desk. When I saw that they had a groupon for a cut, blow dry, AND style I decided to give them another try. This time the woman at the front desk was very friendly , but the hair stylist I got was the worst. He asked what I wanted and I told him that I wanted an inch cut off the bottom, but shaped up with the front pieces a little shorter so that I didnt get that straight across the bottom "broom" look. I felt like he took everything I said as a personal afront to him and was almost argumentative...he said something like, if it was cut like that to begin with then thats how it will be cut again...Well, if it wasnt cut like that then how about YOU cut it like that??! I also mentioned that I would like the little frizzies by my ears straightened(not alot to ask), but he just made some comment and ignored me. After he got done with the blowout I showed him a picture of the style I wanted and he said you need to use a curling iron for that...(Ok, then use one!)Again, he just ignored my request. Apparently, you get the "style" they want to give you, not the one you want...which in this case was a half @ass blow dry that looked like a dried out broom and not the silky smooth blow outs I am used to. When he gave me the mirror to look at my hair and I saw that my cut had no shape and was straight across the back I asked if he could at least blend a few pieces in the front and he said he would have to wet it all over again and didnt have time (apparently, the only thing he heard was cut an inch off)...Its pretty sad when you come home and have to do your own hair after just paying to get it done. read more

went here with a groupon yesterday and saw bill, who i was told is the stylist who does the groupon haircuts when i phoned in ahead of time to set my appointment, which i recommend doing if you have a groupon. the girl at the front desk was courteous on the phone and answered all my questions. also, when i arrived, she offered me something cold to drink. bill was really attentive when i explained what i wanted done, which admittedly was pretty simple - trim the ends, put some layers back in, take a lot of the bulk out. as usual i showed up with photos, because i've had so many bad experiences, regardless of where i've gone. he did exactly what i asked him to do, which i really appreciate. he didn't insist on doing anything to my hair that would require me to do any work to it every day, as i'm a wash-and-go person. he did the shampooing/conditioning himself, and after the cut he didn't put any gunk in it or blow dry it, since despite that being included in the groupon, i requested my hair not be blown dry. he cut it while wet, which is really what you should do if you have wavy/curly hair. he also made sure i could still get it into a pony tail. the only thing i find amusing is that hair stylists seem to have their own version of math, where a half-inch trim always equals a 2" trim. it's some sort of crazy phenomenon. but i'm not upset about it, i have long enough hair now that losing an extra 1.5" doesn't bother me. he didn't use thinning shears, which was what i had suggested doing to remove the bulk, and instead did something called brick cutting, and individually snipped into the hair in different spots to thin it out so it wasn't in lines. he had to do this a couple of times though to remove enough bulk. i would have felt bad about making him do this a second time if i wasn't a grown-up who had received enough bad haircuts in her lifetime to know that you speak up when you want something done or changed or don't like something. after nearly four entire years of living in texas i have finally found a hair stylist i actually like! this is marvelous! a straight older man seemed to do the trick. he gets it. he understands that not everyone wants to spend 2 hours getting ready to leave the house every day. and he studied with toni & guy, and traveled quite a bit as well, so i felt like i was more "at home" there. i'm pretty positive you could get any awesome high-maintenance cut from him or anyone else there too. but if you don't want one of those, and just want to shampoo, condition, towel dry and leave your house, i highly recommend seeing bill. plus their prices, even without the groupon, are what i would consider standard and not extravagant at all. i would spend fifty five for a haircut normally anyway. but yeah, i definitely recommend this place and next time i need anything done to my hair i'm going here. read more
