We were in for lunch and the best seats at the window were bathed in sunshine which was amazing. I'd visited these premises before when it was Velvet Elvis/Criterion and like how they've knocked through the wall to make it a larger space. The decor is great - modern, exposed brick, classy but still with a bit of personality. And they kept the "Keep Partick Weird" wall which is excellent. I got three small dishes for lunch: asparagus with hollandaise (£5.50), three cheese croquettes (£5.50), pan-fried king scallops (£8). The place was really quiet and the food arrived quickly. The asparagus had a lot of hollandaise on it but was lovely, and the scallops were absolute heaven. I didn't love the croquettes though as I thought they were a little bland (especially as they have three kinds of cheese in them). I wasn't drinking but really need to come back for the beers as their list is very long and delicious sounding. This is super cool bar and can't wait to come back for another visit.

Which wasn't too bad. The food was AMAZING! Get the Beer Soup, which is served in a bread bowl, it's honestly brilliant. Butternut squash risotto was heavenly and cheese croquettes were tasty too, small portion of croquettes though, but quite Largs portions of everything else! Risotto is small plate sized and this is about what you can pay twice the price for in other restaurants as a main! Great atmosphere and would definitely visit again, the desserts look very yummy!

Bag O Nails is a very renovated location at what was once Patrick Brewing Company and Patrick Tavern before that. Unlike with the last name changes, this was clearly a major change. Workers were there for weeks, ripping everything out, and rebuilding it. And this was until the day it opened. I stopped by briefly on the night it opened, but didn't really take time to explore it until today. The Sunday brunch compelled me. The design is that purposely worn down look, but unlike most places of this design it has plenty of light from huge windows. It didn't take long to be seated and given both the standard menu and the special Sunday menu. The drinks menu has enough where I'm going to need to have a night here at some point but my mission for this trip was mostly for waffles. My dining companion (Cindy) just got waffles but I got chicken and waffles. It didn't take long for both to come out. It all looked just as I had hoped with plenty of butter and sufficient syrup. The waffles were not the best I've ever had but very enjoyable. The chicken really stood out though, as it was moist and flavourful. Neither of us had a hard time finishing our food. It was a really nice experience and I look forward to going again. The brunch menu is varied and the dinner menu also looks nice. I also need to go during the evening and try some of the cocktails and beers.

First of all, get something to eat here, for the mighty MEATHAMMER inhabit the kitchen, and they have burgers of immense goodness and size. For my money, Meathammer consistently produce the best and most imaginative burgers that Glasgow has to offer, and at a decent price too. The staff in here are a lot more helpful and cheery and just downright nice than I remember from the last time I was in here. Not one person I spoke too seemed to be put out by any of my daft questions about the food, or the seating outside, or the football on the telly. The space itself is pretty amazing. It's a lot bigger than you would expect upon entering down the fairy light laden hallway - and there's a huge beer garden at the back with several big comfy leather couches - would be ideal for watching the football on, if it hadn't been raining earlier. The beers on tap are nice and cold; I had a pint (or 3) or Innis and Gunn and really enjoyed it. Side note that may be totally World Cup related - during the half time break in the football, they turned the sound of the TV off and put on music. A nice relief from having to listen to the "pundits" do their thing and bore you to tears. On the whole, The Record Factory seems to be a nice change to the other bars in this part of town, and I'd definitely return again. Especially for the food. Oh, the glorious food...

It is hard to find though if they have the shutter down on the room (they apparently open up this shutter to the main room but if it's closed you need to walk through a pool room and past the toilets to find it). The main room didn't seem overly busy for a Saturday night but maybe it picks up later on. It really has a cheap student vibe to it which isn't necessarily a bad thing - it's just not my thing. I didn't visit the toilets or go to the bar so I can't comment on these aspects. I would return here in future if I had a reason - otherwise, I can't this being a place I'd visit for a drink when there are other places nearby that are much nicer.

We stopped for some beers and dinner one evening, ordered a flight, and a bunch of food items to share. Between the two of us, we got the Temple of Seitan wings (small size; £9), the Beyond Meat burger (£13.75), and the feta & avo bowl (£11.45) with the feta removed, and tindle (£4.50; a vegan chicken) added. -The wings were extremely rich, coated with an intense buffalo sauce and served with mayo as though you'd need more sauce. This was a bit too intense for me, but my wife loved them. The seitan texture was definitely excellent though. 3.5/5 -The Beyond Meat burger was honestly one of the better Beyond burgers I've had in some time. This burger comes with roasted yellow peppers, vegan cheese, and some pickles. Really tasty, but overpriced (almost £14 for just a burger??). 4/5 -The avo bowl + tindle was quite nice. You get a bed a romaine mostly, with avocado, tomatoes, smoked almonds, and a honey mustard dressing, plus a generous portion of the tindle that I added on. The salad was a bit overdressed, so I'd order the dressing on the side next time. But overall, this was very nice and a generous portion. 4/5 All in all, great service, beers, and vegan food options. I'd definitely eat at Brewdog again.

I even admit to cheating on Sub Crawls to head here instead of the closer Dolphin. It's one of the best, if not THE best real ale pubs in the city - it has an ever revolving array of guest ales, as well as a damn fine selection of regular ones. They offer 2 pint takeaway cartons, which may be the single greatest thing in a pub anywhere! The decor is best described as traditional and authentic, and it's always, ALWAYS busy. The Three Judges on Dumbarton road is a place that I have always been interested in going to but have never actually made it through the front door. On Saturday over 1/2 way through the crawl I finally entered and was very pleasantly surprised. It is a large place with loads of tables and a long bar. It looks very traditional in terms of style, but I would not call it an "old mans" pub in the normal sense. It is actually is pretty modern in some ways in terms of the various beers it has on offer. I went with one that I have had many times before (Sierra Nevada - bottle) and as always it was excellent. I think in the future I will venture back to try some of the many draught options that they have in stock. Interesting pub, great variety of beers options and well worth a look. 4 stars.

Or maye just because I don't drink in Partick all that often. However, when I heard that Hackney All Stars were doing a burger pop up here with free burgers through January I thought it might be time to give it a shot (call me fickle, if you must). I was pleasently surprised. The interior is very comfy in the traditional pub sense and food is served towards the back. There's a good, well-stocked bar and friendly staff available. We visited on a Monday evening and it was a bit quiet but that's really not shocking for a Monday in January. I wouldn't be surprised to see it much mroe full at the weekend. The burgers were pretty good (my partner was particularly impressed with the chips) so I'd keep an eye out for other Hackney All Stars pop ups.
