We took note. We are now in our first Wetherspoons and LOVE IT!! We have already searched along our travel route to see if we'll get a chance to save $$$ and have some good food here! We are budget travelers, and this restaurant is known for serving good quality food, normal, nothing fancy, just "home foods" and pub fare, but today we got lucky with a Delivious chicken tika masala complete with garlic naan, rice and 2 delicious fluffy fritters for £5.50!! I am on the fence about the sauce that it came with. It was ok, but not something I would miss if they took it off the plate. The spicy prawns were my favorite though. They were extremely good and the sauce that came with it was very good as well. The haggis bites...well I'm sure if you like haggis, you would think it to be delicious. It wasn't nasty, but let's just say it's one of those things I need to develop a taste for. However, I definitely was not a fan of the sauce. Now, I loved the prawns so much that I went up to the counter to order more. However, I said "shrimp" and the guy mistook me for saying "strips" and brought out chicken strips. I told him that I wanted shrimp...the prawns but he wouldn't take it back and just said "Sorry." I was a little ticked off, but the strips were pretty good. There is nothing more that can be done about that situation. Be reminded that when you order, you have to go to the bar counter. Aside from the incident above, the staff was friendly for the most part. The restaurant totes a casual flair and was very clean although a little dark. The prices on the menu items seemed fair and were not overly expensive. Overall, If I lived here or stayed longer I would definitely be back. It seems to be a very nice restaurant with slightly above average food and I'm sure the drinks would have been great if only we had arrived after 11.

While waiting for a train at nearby Helensburgh Station, I popped into this fairly grim looking establishment for a refreshment only to be presented with a can of Coke which felt like it had been sitting on a radiator as opposed to in a fridge. Refreshing, it was not. And it's fair to say, after this ominous start, the Station Bar failed to endear itself much more. Despite a few dedications to the town's most famous son, John Logie Baird, hanging on the wall, including his wedding notice in the paper, this place appears a little tired and rundown, and is as far removed from the happy atmosphere of the waterfront on a crisp day as you could get. Indeed, although it was bright sunshine outside, the Station Bar is one of these classic west of Scotland watering holes that does everything to repel the light and ensure every day feels like winter. I guess it's a typical station bar - handy when you've missed your train, mince at all other times.

Food all home made and great quality. Best I have ever had outside Spain. The staff were great, friendly and attentive. Can't wait for the chance to go again!!!! Offering solid pub grub and some fantastic drink offers, 2 quid for a bottle of Stella, 2.40 for a pint of Fosters, the bar is also licensed until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, although it can get a little rowdy at these times. Nevertheless, it represents a decent place to watch a game and offers some truly spectacular views of the Clyde if you catch it on a crisp, clear day.
