There's an unfortunate dearth of choice on the pumps - not the pub for real ale fans, but if you like your whisky you're going to be blown away by the sheer plenitude of single malts on offer. As the first pub I went to when I came of age, I'll sum up The Clyde Bar in the following poem:
A Toast to the Clyde
From the psychedelic paint job
that has ye tripping through the door,
Tae the shelves o' finest whisky
for your taste buds tae explore.
The Clyde's where I've been gettin' foo,
for twenty five quick years.
I dread to count the cash I've spent
whilst getting in the beers!
I first came here for the live bands
rockin' every weekend nicht.
'Course now it's where the DJ's play
while the young ones shake their bits.
She was the first one in here to serve me,
Back in my teenage years.
Now I still drink at Tina's bar
and her memory aft brings tears.
This place has always been well staffed,
as I look back on days gone by.
And Johnny's always been stressed oot,
but we've never found out why!
Aye, we've all come here a lang while,
And o'er that time it's stood the test.
'cos of all the bars in Scotland,
The Clyde's amang the best! read more
