They are very busy and for a good reason! I tried taking my car here for an oil change 3 times. They finally had time on my third try. They are fast, honest, and don't try to sell you parts and repairs that you don't need. Paul is very friendly and honest (as is the rest of his team). read more

Paul & company at AB Marathon have exceeded every expectation I've had for getting a car tuned up. They've been reliable, honest, and willing to work with my budget and needs for what needs taken care of, without any gruffness or salesman-y BS. They have gone above and beyond service-wise -- when I got my car looked at for emissions testing, they even took it to the testing facility while I was at work for me! This is the only place I'll take my care to in Chicago now, and I make sure to tell everyone else I know who is looking for a mechanic. read more

Highly recommend this place! I had fantastic service. Every employee was so kind and very helpful! They were also very fast, even on a Saturday. It is such a relief to find a great place like this after searching for a while and receiving terrible service from other auto-shops in the area. You will not be disappointed! read more

seriously made a yelp account just to review this place. I have a brand new car and due to some stupid mistakes my transmission ended up almost falling apart. I came to the shop in a frantic and Paul was soo nice and assured me that they will do everything they can to help me. He checked in with me multiple times and is a super honest guy. Not the typical place where they try to sell you off on things or say something else is wrong with the car just so they can make more money. the customer service and the quality of work was beyond great, they even drove to my car dealership in evanston to pick up transmission oil for my car! And completed the work in such a timely manner. I will forever go to this place and trust their word read more

These guys are honest and willing to work with you. They took time to explain what was wrong with my car and after several (free) hours of investigation, even admitted that perhaps this was one that the dealership needed to tackle. Honest and trustworthy shops are hard to find. Look no further yelpers. read more

When a serious medical emergency hit an out-of-state family member and we knew our tires wouldn't make the 400 mile journey safely, AB Marathon not only made time in their booked up schedule to get us in, they acquired, installed, and balanced the four tires to ensure we could be on the road within four hours. Not only that, but they did so for less than others had quoted and displayed the friendliest customer service we've even experienced (they even conveyed best wishes for our ill family member). We definitely will be bringing our car back for future maintenance. read more

For the last few years I thought that I finally had honest Mechanic until couple of months ago when my truck started leaking Anti-Freeze so I took it to my "Honest Mechanic" and told me what supposedly the problem is and the cost was $900.00. I decided to take my truck to AB Marathon for a free estimate and I was shocked when they told me what the problem is and the cost of $200.00. Honesty is the most important thing in business and AB Marathon owners are truly honest to their customer and that's why I will always be coming to them in the future because I know they will do great job for a great price. Thank you AB Marathon. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by experience here. They fixed my problem the day I brought my old car in, for a fraction of the price others were asking. They were very nice, too. Thanks, AB Marathon! read more

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would; it is that great of an auto shop! I called after I notice some unfamiliar things happening to my car and spoke with Paul. Immediately, I could tell that this establishment was different than others. He was friendly, considerate and informative. I brought the car in for an inspection and they were quick to take a look and see what the issue was. They called me and informed me what the problem was, how severe it was, and how much it would cost to repair. They didn't try and push other services or products and actually went through in detail as to what had happened and why it was causing my car to act up. He even pulled up a diagram to show me what he was talking about and then preceded to show me on my car. I cannot emphasize enough how pleased I was with the service here. Being a younger, woman, sometimes mechanics can act superior and act as though my female mind cant comprehend the mechanics of a car. Paul was the exact opposite. He was informative and very helpful through the whole process. I recently moved from the suburbs and needed an auto shop in the city and now I found it. I will always take my car here and will tell my friends about it as well. Thanks Paul and Steve for excelling at what you do =) read more

I came in to get my oil change on a busy Saturday! The mechanic quickly pulled my car in and directed me into the waiting area. Attentive and friendly, he came back to check on me in the waiting room and offered me the wifi password, free drinks, and asked if there was anything else I needed - fantastic customer service to begin with. Shortly after, Paul also came in to greet me and asked if I needed anything else. He then came back to explain that they found a nail in one of my tires which then he said not to worry and that they would take care of it. He did a great job of keeping me in the loop for the duration of the service. The entire service took no more than an unbelievable 20 minutes. I've been to my fair share of mechanics but I am by far the most impressed by this place and their diligence to provide an honest, quick, and efficient service. Their prices are great - especially for the quality of work. I will definitely be back for the rest of my car needs. Thanks Steve & Paul. read more

42 excellent Yelp reviews can't be wrong...AB Marathon is amazing! After getting a crappy brake job a little over a year ago from a big named auto center, my brakes started failing yesterday...like seriously started failing. I turned to Yelp to see if there were any reliable repair shops in my area. After seeing great review after great review, I went to AB Marathon's website and submitted an inquiry to see when they could get me in. Within 10 minutes of hitting send, Paul responded and said I could drop off my car as late as 11 pm that night, or first thing the next morning and that they would inspect my car to see what's wrong. Fast forward to today. When I got to AB Marathon, Aladdin warmly greeted me, gave me a reliable and affordable estimate (even calling around to see where he could get cheaper parts for me in order to cut my costs), and Carlos got working on my car right away. Paul gave me a ride home to wait while my brakes were being fixed and Aladdin picked me up when my car was done. I honestly could not be happier. Someone in one of the reviews below said that Aladdin and crew makes you feel like famiy. They really do. I will turn to AB Marathon for every car need (including fuel) going forward. I thought I received five star service at Marathon in Andersonville because the manager and mechanic were so soooo nice to me. I loved the attention and education session about how things work in the car. I now understand that I was fooled and gouged. I went to Marathon in Jan because I lost the gas cap to my BMW 328i. The service engine light goes on if you do that. The car didn't pass inspection because of that light. ABMarathon made a big deal about using a smoke machine to test my system for leaks. It was unnecessary. They charged me close to 50 dollars for a new gas cap that cost them 27. and a hundred for the smoke test They claimed I needed a gasket replacement job that cost hundreds of dollars. Three months earlier a BMW mechanic never saw anything. All this cost me more, over 600 dollars.... for a missing gas cap and computer reset. I had to take the car back to them to check that the check engine light was off. The mechanic offered to get it through inspection for me. I was charged over 140 something dollars more. I discovered when I bought tires last month that two tires were worn out and one was so badly over inflated that it was recommended that I not drive too far. AB Marathon had to have seen the bad tires and said nothing about their dangerous condition. The next time I have 800 dollars to throw away supporting local business, it will not go to AB Marathon. read more
