Cheapest gas in the area! Always. I've been here on two occasions when the gas has been sold out. SOLD OUT. Seriously. Unheard of. And two separate times. Craziness. It's always packed and it can be a bit annoying to navigate the line of people waiting to buy gas, but it's always 15-30 cents cheaper than the stations nearby. read more

To start this off properly, I wouldn't have given any stars if I could. I came to get a new tire for my car and arrived at around 12:40 p.m. The manager told me it would be 45 minutes before they could even start on my car so I went home and returned 45 minutes later. When I got there, the other mechanics were rude and didn't greet me. Another car went before me and got an oil change and two more cars. When I was told to come back in 45 minutes I wasn't told other cars would be in front of me. I proceeded to file a complaint, and the manager would not come speak to me because he was on his "lunch break." I've been serviced at the location before and it seems like this is a routine pattern now. The first time I came to get an oil change, there were many cars already here so I decided to stay and wait. This go around, I was forced to wait because the manager lied and overbooked too many people. I do not recommend this place whatsoever. You could not believe me, but you'd be taking a major risk ! read more

The gas price is usually lowest around, but the lines and the people in them can get really angry and rude because people jut in front of people who were there first, so sometimes it may be better not to get involved. The real reason I like the place is because you can pull in and get a hand car wash, or you tire fixed and get back on the road where some other places are literally just gas stations. This place is like an old-fashioned service station and I think that's cool especially if every other place is closed and it's the end of the day - you're not stranded. read more

Nice, honest repair and towing. They towed my car for a fraction of what others were charging. I had a dead battery and suspension issues. They could have easily charged me for a new battery, but instead did a great job cleaning and recharging it. Good as new. My suspension was having issues as well, something else they could have easily gouged me for. Instead they found a very small issue causing the problem and fixed it for practically nothing. I'd take my car back in a heartbeat. read more

Three stars for cheap gas. Minus two stars for the poor layout which leads to backed up traffic on Howard and makes it nearly impossible to get in and out of the lot. This is definitely the cheapest gas in the immediate area, but we've found the frustration of waiting to maneuver in the parking lot is just too much. We've started going to Valero on Oakton and Asbury because it's never very busy and the prices are always comparable to this Marathon. read more

The service center here is unbeatable, and I am really wary to take my car in to get fixed in Chicago. They got me right in when I called and my car was fixed within the hour, and at a good fair price to boot. They weren't rude or terse like other garages, who act like they are annoyed that you want to give them business. I have not had car service done here, but the gas price here is ALWAYS the best in town! If you pay cash, you get a slight discount.. and NO... the price is not that cheap because you have to buy a car wash... I think that is SO shady of gas stations to post a really low price, but the pull the *will fill up and/or car wash. Rude! read more

Javier and Ernesto are amazing! Very honest and trusted mechanics. I brought a car here that I was sure the alternator was bad. He could of charged for a bunch of labor and an alternator but the problem was a fuse to the alternator. Simple problem, simple fix! I will be sure to recommend others. This is probably one of the most inexpensive places to get gas on Chicago's far north side. The prices of the gas stations I pass on the way to Marathon and after Marathon seem to prove this. The convenience store is typical of most, but I'm not in there to buy lottery tickets and junk food. I'm always able to go in, get gas, then be on my way. read more

I remember this place from when it was run by John, the son of one of the original owners (Jack, I believe). I loved John and felt that I had a real asset in a mechanic I could trust. Anyway, since the change in ownership, I always saw that it had cheap gas so I went there occasionally, but I never used their oil change services. I assumed the 14.99 plus fees was a come on. I assumed the bill would $25 or more with all the fees like it is everywhere else. I was wrong. It was $19 and it was fast. The other Marathon down in was booked for two days ahead and charged 25 plus fees so I am very happy that I was able to get in at the new Dale & Jacks with no waiting. And the guy didn't try to sell me anything more but did tell me that my tires had been low. He was very friendly and matter of fact. It is very nice to have a trustworthy mechanic in the neighborhood. I did not ask his name but I gather from the other reviews that it is Javier. Thanks, Javier! read more

I cannot say enough about Javier. As a woman it was difficult for me to find a mechanic that didn't treat me like I was some kind of fool. I had a problem with my water pump last year and Javier fixed it for a THIRD of what other mechanics were quoting me. He is very honest, trustworthy, and frank about what really needs to be fixed on your car. I have been taking my Toyota Camry to him for about 2 years now and as long as I live in Chicago I won't take my car to anyone else! read more

I took my car in because the alternator went dead right nearby. They got my car in rght away all right, but 2 days later I discovered they damaged my radiator in the process of repairing the alternator- my regular mechanic found superglue all over one of the ruined radiator hose connections, and it didnt hold... this was 2 days later! Needless to say, I'm really P.O.'d about the complete dishonesty. My radiator could have blown up! Who cares? They don't. read more

Javier is righteous. We've been bringing our cars to him for 6-7 years. He will tell you straight up not to spend money on a repair you don't need, when he could easily make money fixing it. There are certain things they can't do because they don't have the computerized technology, but they will point you in the right direction. For most repairs you'd be smart to trust Javier. read more
