Jim looked at the walls where water has damage the plaster, took a peek up the floo and made an assessment regarding whether or not the water heater and boiler are properly exhausted without gaining access to the roof. He was belligerent and argumentative about whether or not I was able to access the top of the chimney myself and accused me of being "full of bullshit". Not only did he do nothing to actually merit the 220 dollars that he received, he noticed the card left by another company and proceeded to berate them on every level. I would not recommend this company and would advise strongly against using them. Jim was offensive and lacked any sense of customer service. I consider the money well spent in identifying which company to avoid at all cost.

I 100% do not recommend Dave or his company to anyone…read more Dave came out to our house to service our AC via a home warranty contract we had. He claimed our unit was not serviceable and that it MUST be replaced because the refrigerant/coolant was leaking (I'm not an HVAC person so not sure which term is preferred). Unfortunately Dave doesn't do well with technology and couldn't submit the proper paperwork to the warranty company electronically. Instead he took the $100 and never finished filing the paperwork or completing the job. Thankfully, after waiting over a month of no AC and Dave's incompetence, my neighbor asked his HVAC company to inspect our AC unit out of courtesy (mid summer in 100+ degree heat) and they found that there was NO leak at all and the only issue was a bad capacitor. It took less than $20 and less than 10 minutes for them to replace the bad capacitor!!! It's been running PERFECT for the last 2+ months. I watched Dave the entire time and he NEVER CHECKED the capacitor. He took 2 seconds looked at the line and CLAIMED we had a leak that was irreparable. My family spent over a month without AC because Dave wanted to replace our unit for $4500. I guess making money is more important to Dave than helping people in his community, of which he claims to support so much.

Unfortunately, my furnace was red-tagged because it was a safety hazard to operate after several of cracks were found. This could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning. In addition, the flame rolled out from a block heat exchanger, which it was not supposed to do. I received a quote to replace the furnace from a competitor. I called my in-law for help because we are first-time homeowners, my husband was at work, and neither of us knew anything about the HVAC system. My in-law called Howell Heating and explained the situation. Zack gave us a quote, which is more affordable by $2000 and includes removal and disposal of old equipment, rehooking of existing electrical/ductwork, equipment, labor, and materials, and includes a 1-year labor/10-year part warranty, as well as 20-year heat exchanger warranty. Zack was also patient in explaining the differences between a single and two-stage furnace. We have a rambler that is 1500 sqft. Zack replaced a unit similar to what we had. He did not upsell or push products. Overall, I did not feel obligated to lock into a sale compared to other competitors who may be pushy salesmen. On the day of the installation, Zack arrived promptly. He had several large cloth rags to protect my floors. He got right to work. Within two hours, I have heat again. He cleaned up his work area. We got quoted over $2,800 for a water heater or $2,600 if we got the service plan. It seemed high so I called the other company that I have also relied on for appliance and hvac. They were $1,749.51 (including tank, supplies, permit, labor, disposal and tax). I called the technician back from Sedgwick because I wanted to give them first crack at a price match (I frankly would have gone up to $2,000 to match because I like to give the business to good technicians who come right out and are so professional and good). He checked with the company and the company was unwilling to change. So, I went with the other company. For an about $1,000 savings I had to. I like Sedgwick and have had good luck with them in the past (as well as today with the technician - he was fantastic), but with this experience I would ALWAYS get quotes if considering them now.
