Joe was very up front about the cost and the timeline. Once the crew started they were in and out in two half days and that included the city inspection. The service included moving the venting system to another wall, replacing the tile on the fireplace floor and tiling the wall. Also, it included replacing the siding in the location of the old vent. I did not have to worry about cleanup as they removed everything and even vacuumed the area where they were working. The price was very much in line with what I was told by other people. There were no surprises. Joe and his crew are very customer forward, they answered all of my questions and explained what they were doing at each step of the process. I could tell that they knew their job and did it well. I would highly recommend this place.

I will try to be objective. 1) Purchased a wood stove from them 8 years ago. It was difficult to get the attention of anybody working there, but eventually we were helped. 2) Purchased a hearth pad at the same time. The design was wrong upon delivery - too late to change. 3) Installation by them was okay. Employees were patient, efficient and friendly. They had, however, initially positioned the hearth pad the wrong way. My wife, who was present, corrected them, but they had already drilled the hole for the stovepipe in the ceiling, so things were a little off. I can live with it. Clean up was great. 4) We also hired Woodland Stoves to service our wood stove every two years. Scheduling was a bit difficult, but the wait was no more than two months, and things were done rather efficiently. 5) Having Woodland Stoves change out the hearth pad was marked by poor or no communication on their part. I had the feeling that they were not very invested in helping me with this, and when the error in communication came to light, the exchange turned sour. Frustrating. 6) Day of installation of the new hearth pad - and cleaning - was great. Workers were again kind and thorough. 7) This summer I have tried to schedule an appointment for a routine service. There is an online form one can fill out and submit. One can also call and have information taken from you. For some reason, my attempts to get an appointment have gotten nowhere. I filled out the online form twice and called once. Supposedly, this only puts you in a QUEUE for the scheduler. After three weeks, I have not been contacted, neither via email nor by phone. There is no mention made via phone conversation or online of a suggested timeline for a simple response. This has been beyond frustrating. At the very least, service representatives should make some mention of when to receive notification. I feel that my request has been buried, forgotten or ignored, and this has prompted me to finally take my business elsewhere. Three attempts - and three weeks - is beyond acceptable. I was never even contacted by them with a suggested date for the cleaning. I submitted an online request with another company and got a personal response within 24 hours. To me, this speaks volumes of a company's actual service, and I look forward to doing business with them. Woodland Stoves - I really, really tried.....

It's been a long road on my part and I should be giving FireSide 5 starts just for dealing with me and doing the back and forth phone calls and emails. I just like things perfect what can I say. I decided to go with the 30inch Escape there highest end model for that size. Added the wifi package so I can control the fire from my iPhone of course. Jamie was the brilliant representative I worked with and he was very patient with me and explained everything more than twice. They offer a warranty and extend it for a fee. Plus the warranty on the fireplace from Heat N Glow. This place just seems to have the best equipment and a huge selection. I just had my fireplace install finished yesterday. They did a wonderful job and I love the outcome. I'm even thinking of buying a 2nd for my basement. On a sidenote, after the burn in clean I was putting the frame back together after cleaning which is something I don't think anyone should do except a professional, and I just so happen to have scratched my custom back surround. Fireside was nice enough to have someone come out and totally repaint it and it looks great. They charged me nothing for this service. They also replaced my chimney cap with the black square one and I take fault in not telling them todo that the first time. I just didn't like the SS tube. I was only charged for the extra cost of the black vent. I would definitely recommend this establishment over the competition.

Got the installation set up, they arrived with the wrong part (it was clearly stated on the invoice) and it took several more days and another appointment to resolve. They got it set up and started, and I noticed the (fake) logs were broken. What, were they trying to get rid of bad inventory? I pointed it out and the installer went "Oops!" and had to go back and get some intact ones. This past week, on the coldest day of the season so far, the fireplace wouldn't stay lit and kept cycling on and off. I called - they won't even take calls unless the showroom is open, only a few days a week. I finally called when they were open and got the voice mail. I left all the proper information and here nearly a week later they have not called back. Fortunately the problem had reset itself after several hours of a cold basement. I would have just canceled an appointment but would have liked a callback and explanation. I would have even gone to the store if it was still broken. Perhaps it's fortunate I did not have to. NOT RECOMMENDED, HIGHLY.

Today, their technician comes out, takes it apart, cleans it, "condemns" it, disables it, and generally charges me $300 to turn a fireplace that works 99% of the time into a fireplace that works 0% of the time. He said the cause was a piece of tubing that had sprung a hole. Tubing! A place that sells gas-powered fireplaces couldn't replace tubing! The only reason I had them out was that none of the other repair places I found would "service that brand."

He went on so long about it that the customer he was initially talking with left the building - I figured she saw an opening and hit the road. I ended up finding the stainless clamps at a near by big box hartdware store. My advice to the owners of FH&H - find a new showroom sales rep - this guy does not have what you need.
