In addition the lid had not been properly placed back on so there was considerable dirt leak into the tank.
    Damien R.

Let me start by saying that AAP DID attempt to help us find a septic emptying company last weekend over fourth of July, but didn't have any luck. I rated them a 2 star instead of a 1 star because at no point in time did they directly lie to me, and the plumbing services they recommended weren't a bad idea. For some background I have a home we purchased 4 years ago that was built in 1981 and has septic. For the last 4 years our septic has functioned flawlessly until this last 4th of July weekend where it backed up completely into our lower bathroom. We had a pool overflow into the leach field and a water spigot spring a leak right over my septic main line at the same time. I explained to the plumber when they came out Monday what had happened and they recommended an empty service and inspection. The quote was initially $675 which was dropped after I told them it was WAY more than we planned on paying for a septic empty. The septic guys came back and said $250 and the plumber held fast at $375 for inspection due to my small 6" risers. I asked if for $625 I was getting a guarantee minus any major issues that my drains would work and they said yes. After the septic pump was finished the AAP team determined they could not do the original job without digging the caps up and inspecting the tanks. They dug up both sides and determined the baffles were not properly installed, although they had been functioning as is for years and years without issue. They then tested the leach line to make sure it was working properly and it was. So they went to work on the main line. They snaked the line which drained it and ran the camera up there. To me it looked like a crushed pipe which would make sense due to the water leak at the foundation adding weight to the dirt. They told me it was a grease backup and that I needed hydrojetting. The plumber went back to call in for a quote on repairs and came back with an estimate of $625 and $675 for basic hydrojetting. At the time I had no idea what this would or should cost. It was 9pm at night. The highest quote was $4895 to install 2 new 24" risers, add a main line clean out port, to hydrojett the main line, to fix the 2 incorrect t baffles at the entrance and exit to the septic tank, and a chemical treatment of the tank. I immediately researched parts costs while the guys were there and it was about $200 in parts. The hydrojetting machine is not free and obviously should have a little premium on it. However the work would be completed that night, so truth be told it was about a $4500 labor quote for 3-4 hours work. Maybe less, the T baffles are right at the top of the septic tank and the lids were already exposed. The main line was 18" down so it was a little more digging. I thought the quote was personally outrageous. 7 days later this Sunday my septic clogs again and once again we have to call a plumber. My wife calls the original company AAP and I speak with the owner Anthony who explains to me that he didn't get 17 trucks trying to take advantage of people and that he would send his guy back out today to inspect what is going on for free. I am super pissed about the quote and he tells me I have a major leak in my system if my septic filled up in a week. A septic is supposed to fill back up in about a week. Research it, that is typical and there is no leak because I have already tested at the water main meter at the street. Then he tells me it is probably my leach lines then (a $5000 repair on top of the $4895 already quoted by the way) and I respond we ran a leach test with the hose for 30 minutes and it passed. So he then says all I can do is send my guy out and find out what is wrong. So 3 hours later his tech Josh shows up and we show him the toilet. Since there is no main line cleanout he tells me he cannot inspect the line without removing the toilet and then placing it back on. I tell him to go call his boss as he said the inspection was free. They were already here and already knew there was no access so why tell me it is free if it isn't? I literally walked to my garage, got a crescent wrench and some pliers, walked back into my lower bathroom and had the toilet off when he got off the phone with his boss. He then said OK yeah my boss says $165 to pull the toilet. OK so my free inspection was now already $165 for 2 minutes work. Awesome! So the tech places the camera line down the main through the toilet and hits a block and because of the water we can't see anything. So he tells me the grease in the line probably broke free and clogged the t baffle and assures me the issue is at the t baffle. He can snake it for me, but it is $98. lol great free service that so far would have cost me another $265 for 15 minutes work. I dig up the septic and same issue as day 1. I fixed it with the hose for free. I still believe a crushed pipe to be the issue. I will be digging it up at the foundation myself. If you choose AAP, be prepared to finance the repairs.

I was in need of someone to install a new faucet. Called all round to several places in my immediate area for quotes. Was very very happy with AAP and there quote. Caesar the tech was great with coming on time and installing my new faucet within an hour. The company had no problems installing a faucet I myself had purchased, no job was too small and the price was outstanding. Caesar made sure he cleaned up when he was done, he was very professional. I would definitely call them back if more plumbing issues are needed.

AccuServe absolutely came through when I needed it…read more I had an active leak that initially looked like a washer ABS drain issue but turned out to be a hot water PEX supply line failure inside the wall. I had already opened the ceiling and walls to trace the leak and just needed a straightforward repair. Mike and Shane from AccuServe (a father/son team) showed up, diagnosed the issue correctly, fixed exactly what was broken, pressure tested everything, and got me back up and running for $400. No upsell. No scare tactics. No trying to rebuild parts of the system that weren't failing. For context, another company quoted $1,400 and wanted to add work I didn't ask for and wasn't needed. AccuServe focused on the actual problem and solved it. Professional, honest, and reasonably priced. This is how plumbing service should be done and how companies operate with integrity. I'll be using them again and I recommend them to anyone who wants real work done without getting taken for a ride.

He immediately guided me through checking whether my tankless water heater was still under warranty and even provided two estimates: one with the warranty and one without. What impressed me most was that even while waiting for my follow-up, he was already working behind the scenes to locate where the replacement unit could be picked up. That level of initiative and professionalism is rare. When Mike came out, he was incredibly transparent and took the time to explain everything that needed to be done. And as luck would have it, my bathtub plate/spout also needed to be replaced--he handled that seamlessly as well. Mike went above and beyond from start to finish. If you need a plumber who communicates, follows through, and genuinely cares about helping you, Mike is your guy. Highly recommend!

Today was no different--communication was seamless, pricing was clear and upfront, and scheduling was hassle-free. They even rescued us on short notice for a semi-emergency. I had him look at a couple other things for me while he was here and without hesitation he did. I also had him flush my water heater that he installed for me 2 years ago. He is HONEST & RELIABLE & VERY THOROUGH and explains everything so you have a complete understanding of what he is doing and what you are paying for. When it comes to the plumbing in my home which is old I won't even look for anyone else. He is my go to. **WARNING: Expensive HVAC system failing after only 4.5 years**…read more I paid $15,000 for a new HVAC system from Northstar Heating and Air in July 2021, and it's already failing due to airflow and drainage issues that appear to go back to the original installation. The company was asking $950 (or possibly more) to repair it without fixing the root cause, and my attempts to reach a supervisor have gone unanswered. I cannot recommend this company unless you get everything clearly documented upfront. Here's the full story: I was informed that the system failed due to inadequate airflow--something that should have been identified and addressed during installation. Over the years, the system was serviced multiple times by technicians from the same company. At no point was I clearly informed that this issue could lead to system failure or required urgent correction. On one visit, airflow was mentioned and an additional intake was suggested; however, this was several years after installation and was not communicated as a serious issue or something that could lead to system failure or require urgent correction. I have also since learned that the drainage pipe was installed incorrectly, which raises serious concerns about the quality and completeness of the original installation. I began noticing water dripping and a bluish mineral/calcium buildup around the drainage pipe, which made it clear something was not right. My concern is that improper drainage can lead to water damage, system inefficiency, and additional component issues over time. I was also told that the TXV (thermal expansion valve) has now failed and needs to be replaced. My concern is that this failure may be related to the ongoing airflow and drainage issues that were never properly addressed, rather than normal wear and tear. Now that the system has failed, the company was asking for $950 to repair the damage, but the cost could increase depending on how long the repair takes, adding further uncertainty about the total expense. The technician also mentioned that the labor warranty isn't covered after 5 years--but the system hasn't even reached that point yet (July 2026), so it seems unreasonable to charge for repairs that should still be covered under the warranty period. This is especially frustrating given that the underlying issues appear to trace back to the original installation. Because I no longer trusted this company to properly fix the system, I hired a trusted HVAC technician who was able to repair the issues, including addressing airflow and drainage problems, for a flat $900. This made it clear that the original quote and approach from Northstar were not reasonable or necessary. I have made multiple attempts to resolve this directly with Northstar Heating and Air. A supervisor or manager returned a call while I was at work and I missed it. My husband returned the call and left a message, but it was not answered. I then called again the following day, left a detailed message requesting a callback, and still have not received any response. The lack of follow-up and communication has only added to my frustration. At this point, my concern is not just the cost, but the overall lack of accountability and transparency regarding both the installation and the handling of this issue. I trusted this company's expertise to properly design, install, and maintain the system, and that trust has not been upheld. I strongly recommend that anyone considering this company ask detailed questions about airflow evaluation, system design, and installation practices--and get everything clearly documented in writing before moving forward.
