I get my eyebrows done here every few weeks. I love how she maintains the shape and cleans them up. I have a pretty good shaped eyebrows as I've been told but she makes them look nicer and fuller like I don't even need to fill them in. I have to say that sometimes my skin gets cut or scraped but I don't know if that's unavoidable to not. I usually just walk in when I need them/I have time. After months of trying to do my own eyebrows I had to breakdown and look for an expert. My brows needed serious help. I put this off for quite a bit, searching on Yelp for good reviews and even trying Benefit's Brow Bar at Ulta. If you're reading this, you know what a hassle and process it is to find a new eyebrow person you trust. So happy to find a reasonably priced place - brows cost $12. I made an appt online the night before. You'll receive a confirmation email with the address and pricing. When I arrived for my appt, I was the only one in the waiting room while she was finishing work on the lady before me. COVID precautions that I saw: she was wearing a mask and gloves, she sanitized her hands between customers, and she wiped down the seat before asking me to sit down. Threading was as expected. Not painless (equally comparable to other places I've gotten my brows threaded at), but quick. I made sure to mention I don't like my brows too thin, and she delivered on her understanding of how I wanted my brow shape. She's not bad, but also not the friendliest. I wouldn't go there for the service. She knows what she's doing. She knows eyebrows, which is hard to find in this area. But I also have tiny red scabs from where I bled from the threading. She's harsh with the thread and barely stopped to provide a napkin when I started tearing up. Would I go back? Meh, maybe. Dear Brow Threading Lovers, This particular place has a functional alcoholic waiting on customers. Not loving her grouchy demeanor. The cup of vodka n juice, breath, her bad attitude toward women, I see she flirts with males.. who come in, she only likes guy's. So, be aware. Now, as to the dubious quality, I have had a Threading done by a pro. She tapped, lightly, measuring by her hands, while she was shaping, and my brows were AMAZING, so I definitely have had a pro, before, to compare Aakar with. This woman proprietor of Aakar, made faces of disgust. She made me feel as if the hair's I wanted removed, were just disgusting. She took scissors, and made the long ones I'd grown to be completely pulled correctly, into a short stubble (!) Which was cheating. Then she only threaded a select amount, and I was horrified to feel a too short stubble, from her scissors, which was pokey and sharp, ugly, Scissors are NOT what I came in for! Stubble is the not threaded service, I didn't want, and shouldn't have paid for. I reached up in my car, and felt all of this stubble. It was annoying. Lastly, she very rudely, grabbed my hand, hurting me, flung it onto my face, saying for me to tighten my face, and I had no idea what she meant,at first. Certainly, the rudeness, the light assault on my face... Was like a bit of battered face incident. If you don't mind alcoholic inappropriate people, this is your brow place. Oh! And zero for an whole month, zero reply to my email, asking how much to bring with to treat four girls graduating high school to a brow party. Just no response. Yet when I got there, all she does is sit at her computer. Ironic. read more

Affordable place . They're pretty fast and for the most part your always satisfied. I haven't gone since the pandemic but the older lady was subpar at it she did in one occasion smelled like booze and I was the first person of the day... still did my eyebrows great. Krishna's method of eyebrow design is THREADING and she has turned me from waxing...my eyebrows! I never maintain my eyebrows myself because when I do attempt such a task I ruin the already beautiful arch with one accidentally plucked hair, grr, hate that! The last time I waxed my eyebrows was in July and that will be the last for a while because the esthetician totally ruined them! The woman waxed them too thin and destroyed my arch! This happened at a nail salon in New Monterey. I've gone to Aakar three times over the past few months and I can definitely see that my eyebrows are getting better, filling out and the arch is looking so much more natural. I'm grateful for this new experience and want others to know that there is a place in Marina offering an alternative to waxing facial hair. $8 for brow design, other services include upper lip, chin, and entire face. There's never a line but she may get phone calls during your session for appointments.
