Naan and rice
Emily G.

I'm gonna start off with the million dollar annoying a$$ influencer question... "dO yoU kNoW wHaT A dOsA iS???" If I hear that one more time... smh. Also y'all saying that don't even explain what it is or mention that it has a filling.. that annoys me. Like don't just swing around a long bread looking thing and not explain what it is. It's just so gimmicky. Anyway I'll hop off my soap box. The food was good! And no I didn't get the freaking dosa (I will next time). It was really good! I'd say though that it wasn't any better than some other places--but still all around amazing (I can use the dash thing and it's not AI guys lol) I didn't try anything I didn't like. Also they definitely bring the spice! My sister ate like 3 baskets of the garlic naan. My partner got the Lamb Shank Mandi and the rice had incredible flavors that personally I don't think I've ever tasted before. The lamb was fall off the bone tender. Soooo yummy. The inside was very clean and modern. I wish it wasn't as bright inside but that's my personal opinion. Especially when the food is a little pricier I want a nice warm glow lol. We'll be back. They have a very nice patio I'm looking forward to in the spring!!!

TL;DR: If you're looking for a spot that looks, tastes, and costs like a restaurant that describes itself as "modern Indian", this is the one for you. The flavors are fine (nothing mind-blowing), the portions are small, and the ambiance is nice. If you care more about flavor and cost than presentation, my favorite everyday southern Indian food in the KC metro is at Chettinad's at 151st and Metcalf. If you're looking for truly interesting, new American -style fusion with an Indian bent (the real "modern Indian"), check out Of Course Kitchen that's also really close by at 159th.

The decor and ambiance here really impressed me. Very modern and stylish, a great fit for an upscale Indian spot. The menu had a good range of options, though I do wish there were more small plates or shareable items. I like trying a variety of dishes, and the portions here are big, so it's harder to sample without committing to a full entrée. Food itself was decent. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid. The highlight of the meal was actually the berry mojito, which was refreshing and well balanced. Service was friendly, though the food took longer to come out than I'd expect given how quiet the restaurant was at the time. All in all, I'd come back if I was craving Indian with a modern vibe, but I'd probably bring a group next time so we could try more dishes.

Lunch

Grabbed lunch to go for my office while visiting for work and it was amazing! Butter chicken, garlic naan, Mali Kofta, and of course, a mango lassie! Everything was so tasty and flavorful and perfect I knew the second I stepped out of the car and smelled the beautiful grilled spices in the air. This was going to be a fantastic lunch. Well, we didn't stay and have lunch. It was just takeout. I will be back because the restaurant was cute and everybody looked like they were having a wonderful time we were greeted in and out. They gave us plenty of utensils and napkins as well, and everything was packaged very well.

I've been to this location many times before under its previous ownership and name, but this is an entirely new experience--with a fresh identity, modern decor, and a thoughtfully reimagined menu. The ambiance is upscale and stylish, with a sleek, contemporary interior and an inviting bar. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus. What really stood out to me was how the menu sets itself apart from other Indian restaurants in the area. It's been simplified in a way that makes it easy to navigate without sacrificing variety or creativity. Here's what we ordered: Amritsari fish, mango chicken, and lamb Rogan Josh--all of which were absolutely outstanding. Each dish was flavorful, well-balanced, and beautifully complemented by the basmati rice. They even brought us a complimentary chikoo shake, which was a fun and delicious surprise! The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our meal. This place deserves lots of love--if you're in the area, definitely bring your friends and family. And here's a great reason to return: I heard they'll be refreshing the menu soon. I can't wait to come back and try what's next!

My first visit to Aahaa was for a Yelp Elite Experience. I and my party enjoyed dining here. I and my wife had planned to return to try other menu items. On this visit, our experience was much the same as the first. The food was delicious though not as spicy as other restaurants serving the same items. Service, while friendly, was a bit tentative. One of the staff filled my wife's water without being asked, while our server, when asked, took a bit of time to get back to us. Another of the staff wanted to refill my water from her pitcher. I had to point out twice that I was drinking S. Pellegrino not tap water Other than that everything was great. Good food, nice atmosphere. Enjoyable.

Had the chance to grab a fantastic meal in one of Kansas City's newest Indian restaurants. (actually located in OPKS) As their website says it is a modern dining experience in a pretty open floor plan of booths and outdoor seating. The ambiance and the aroma are an introduction to the type of service and meal to prepare for. The music could be more complimentary to Indian heritage. After being seated and possibly ordering, you'll first enjoy a complimentary chikoo shake. It was creamy and delicious. From the menu of an array of dishes, we ordered: Masala Crab Cakes (mild spice level), Chicken tikka masala (medium spice level) and Lamb vindaloo (mild spice level), garlic naan & butter naan (each order 4 nice slices), 2 coconut rose coolers and Chai Spiced cheesecake. If you're new to the level of heat Indian food can have I'd definitely recommend mild spice level. While we waited for our food which wasn't long we were offered water 3 different times: tap, sparkling or bottled. I took it as a sign 3rd time around. The crab cakes had good flavor, however there's a chalky aftertaste. The aoili provided was good atop of it though. Both main entrees were spiced and seasoned with Indian culinary flavor. The rice and meat were perfectly cooked so it really does just melt in your mouth! I'm not a fan of coconut but I love rose water and the combination is so refreshing. The presentation with petals in the drink and coconut shavings around the rim, it was almost too pretty to drink. Overall our the service and food were above par. Our waitress Sathvika was attentive, helpful and friendly. If I had questions about the menu or ingredients she graciously informed me.

The inside was really nice, clean and the safe was very attentive. We shared a couple appetizers and an entree, definitely need to go family style while here. Tons of food and everything was delicious! Very excited to come back and try other things on the menu. The gulab jamun was amazing!!!

A total win! This location has been revamped into what appears to be an upscale and minimalist dining room. The staff gets lots of kudos here. They were not only extremely attentive but also friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to give great descriptions on what kind of flavors were in each dish and how it was prepared. Even a little bit of a how best to eat some of the dishes. I had some amazing dishes. Thier butter chicken is very good... but the winner of the dishes is the Dragon Chicken!

Indian food is my all time favorite cuisine so when I saw a place on the Restaurant Week 2025 list that I hadnt yet tried, we had to go! Very modern vibes in a large space, no reservation needed during the week. The staff was plentiful and checked on us the entire meal. We craved a little more spice in the dishes and didn't have leftovers to bring home but we did have a lovely meal at Aahaa. Chicken 65 was generous and the garlic Naan was classic. Curious to check out the rest of the menu next time around!

Chicken biriyani

We ordered the chicken lollipops, naan, butter chicken, and chicken biriyani. AMAZING FLAVOR. We will definitely come back and tell everyone to visit ASAP. Interior of the restaurant was modern and simple. Flavors and spices blew us away. Love love love this place!!!

Travis T.

The food was very delicious and the inside was nicely decorated. The house family special dosa was huge and a great value since it came with multiple chutneys including sambar and potato masala. The chicken chettinad was also delicious also with the right amount of spice.

Such a cool place! The food was really good and did not disappoint. My go to is chicken tiki masala with the mango lassi and it tasted really good here. Service was really good, ambience was really pretty with it being a newer establishment. Music was modern pop (interesting but didn't complain lol). Food price was reasonable.

It really threw off the vibe. I was seated right away, and my waiter, Chris, was friendly. He walked me through their extensive menu of wines and even recommended a few. Chris did recommend another wine, Fragolino, and I loved it. I could've drank it all day. I wanted a bottle of it to go, but sadly, they were out. Hopefully, when I return, it will be in stock. We didn't get any food since we were heading to eat afterwards. But the menu looked like it was pretty decent. We'll definitely have to come back to try it. I really enjoyed that the owner was there and working. The extra care for the company shows in how well it's kept! Overall, I definitely suggest you check it out.
