Long line on Sunday for buffet but worth it. Many choices- over ten entrees. All were hot. NOT all entrees here are spicy. Most of the entrees are spicy but oddly enough an item called Dynamite Chickenw was the least spicy and actually very mild item on the buffet. South Indian food is more spicy than Northern Indian food so this does gel with the choices here but again there are several less or non spicy items. We'd enjoyed past visits to Aahaa but our recent experience left us worried that it's slipped a bit. The service was spotty, several tables with dirty dishes remained uncleared while we were there, and the staff seemed to be scrambling between tables (though the restaurant was maybe 60% occupied on a Friday night). Our chicken tikka kababs were way overcooked and tough to eat; we would have asked for a replacement but could not find a waitress. We'd ordered naan with our meal and were surprised by the small (compared to other KC Indian restaurants) portion. Prices overall -- such as $26 for maybe 6 to 8 pieces of overcooked chicken cubes -- are just way too high for the amount of food served and the strained service. In fairness, perhaps it was just an unfortunate "off night" and Aahaa will bounce back. We hope so! But it will be a while until we visit again. read more

I decided to have dinner here with my husband and some friends and when we got there it didn't take long to get seated which was good, but our food took a long time and we got our plates one by one which made things awkward because we didn't want to eat unless we were all able to eat together. The service wasn't all bad, the waitress was a young girl and she was trying her best. She forgot too add my husbands order so after a long wait we all got our plates except for him. I asked a waiter if there was a wait on his food and he said it was coming up but when she came around she said she never put that order in. After we finally started eating we noticed a hair in the garlic naan... we let the staff know and they apologized and got us a fresh basket. I ordered spicy butter chicken with Rosé and the food was delicious but the Rose wasn't chilled. The ambience was okay but the lights kept flickering. The dragon chicken appetizer is incredible!!! We ordered everything with medium level spice. My butter chicken wasn't anything special, and tasted completely mild. I definitely would've appreciated more flavor. The juicy lamb was a lot spicier and more flavorful. We were happy with the portion sizes for everything except the naan. Service was perfect though! We (a group of 6) chose this restaurant for a birthday celebration dinner for multiple reasons - we love Indian food, it had great online reviews, and it was a restaurant that was new to all of us. We were very disappointed with our overall experience. It took them over an hour to bring all of our food to the table. We watched multiple groups of people (couples to groups of 4) come in after us, eat, pay their checks, and leave while we just sat there. After an hour, the food finally started to arrive sporadically every 5 minutes or so until we all finally had all our plates, and the server never returned to our table until we were done eating. I don't know about you, but having our water refilled once or twice while eating spicy food would have been nice. The food - Great! The service - HORRIBLE. food ordered zero hot to mild got on fire hot and waitress had chef remake waited 30 minutes l, waitress said she would comp my meal and didn't. my husband meal came out dry and he's meal came 10 minutes before mine, (4 minutes) so he was completely finished by the time my butter chicken came. I watch a table 6 which seated and ordered before us finally got their meals when we got our check. definetly need to work on timing and temps. I wouldn't go on weekend. read more

I would NOT recommend eating at Aahaa, especially if you have a food allergy. They have items clearly marked gluten free on their menu that are absolutely not gluten free. The service was horrendous. We went on a Saturday night and ordered an appetizer and entree. The appetizer finally came out 20 min after the entree and after we told the manager and waitress it was delayed. We saw this place in Instagram and stopped in when in the area. The food aroma met us in the parking lot and pulled us in! We were greeted and seated quickly. Everyone we encountered was friendly and our server gave suggestions and made sure we chose the appropriate heat level. We went to Aahaa on a Friday night to celebrate our anniversary a few months back as we love Indian food and had seen a video review about the restaurant. We made reservations and even though we arrived on time we still had to wait to be seated as the staff wasn't very organized in front which contradicts making a reservation. We were then sat at a weird table right next to the kitchen entrance so it had a lot of traffic and noise. Due to the wait being seated they brought out complimentary ginger shots which were nice but everything continued going downhill afterwards. We ordered 2 mango lassi, garlic naan, lamb Rogan Josh, and a special they had at that point which I believe was a combo biryani with lamb shank and other proteins which at the time was around $40. It took about ten minutes to get water to the table. Everyone was running around like chicken with their heads cut off. 35-45 minutes later we still haven't gotten the mango lassi, water refills, or any food. Once they finally bring out the food it's 2 lamb Rogan Josh... I tell them that's not what we ordered and we're faced with attitude while they ask us again what we ordered. I tell them we ordered the special biryani, they take the other lamb Rogan Josh and keep the other one on the table leaving only one of us with food.... The server who took the order never came back to the table and to this day I still don't know who my server was as they kept switching after this. We wait about ten minutes for the rest of the food then start eating and split the one dish even though they didn't bring us extra plates or come back to the table. Keep in mind we still haven't gotten the mango lassi yet or the naan. After we finish the whole dish we then get our drinks but we're still left waiting for an additional 30 minutes to the point where we just ask for the check if they haven't started the dish or to just box it up if they have. They finally bring it out 10 minutes later after we've lost all our appetite since we finished the other dish 40 minutes ago and it's not boxed. I ask again for a box from the woman who now seems to be serving us as she had already picked up the check with my card inside and was trying to convince us to just stay and eat. Once she comes back with the box I ask for Raita for the biryani as it did not come with any and she looks at me with a confused look and walks away leaving me to box all the food in this giant pan when you would think considering the prices and headache that's the least they could do for you. She then comes back and drops the check off without saying anything not even goodbye and I come to realize that they up charged me $2 for the raita after the fact without even asking or telling me. I don't mind paying for it but it's not on the menu priced and she didn't tell or ask me if it was ok before secretly adding it to my bill charging my card again and leaving. More so considering everything we just went through and the fact that they messed up our entire order and meal yet they couldn't comp a $2 yogurt... What genuinely sucks is that the food is pretty good which is why I gave it two stars instead of one but I would never come back and eat in due to the atrocious service and management. There are a lot of other Indian options which are considerably more economical, have much better service, and taste just as good if not better. I haven't gone back since but if you go I'd recommend ordering pickup and saving yourself the headache. read more

Used to be my favorite place!! They severely cut down the menu and got rid of some of their great dishes like Channa masala, pesarattu, etc. In addition, the prices have increased dramatically with the food quality remaining the same and the food quantity remaining the same. I paid $8 for two samosas. They were good, but not THAT good. They also know that your kid will want some French fries and charge $8 for generic salt-less French fries will not be coming back after this "upgrade" , and a little heartbroken at the loss of my old favorite spot. read more

We love the atmosphere and service at Aahaa! We have been coming here for years for our South Indian dosas and while we enjoyed dosa again, we missed some of our past favorites such as Chana batura and the veg noodles (Indo-Chinese).
