We stopped by Chai Cafe on our way to some spring break bowling and March Madness, and despite how fun those things were, Chai Cafe quickly became the highlight of our day and weekend! The dining room is fun! Open, bright, clean, well decorated, smells great, and has ample seating! There's awesome, light music playing, which I really enjoyed! It's international, but easy listening, adding to the ambiance very well! The windows lining the front of the restaurant are heavily tinted, so even though it may look closed or that the lights are off when you pull up, head on in! It's bright and welcoming inside, despite the front being..."modest", we'll say... You order at the front counter, and there are bright video-board menus behind the counter to review. There are SOOOO many options here! Admittedly, it's a bit overwhelming to take in, however, the lady tending the counter during our visit was extremely kind and helpful, and answered our many, many questions! We ordered a very diverse spread, including biryani, a butter chicken sandwich, chicken and noodles, and butter paneer. We also all tried different chai teas, and my son got a flavored lemonade. We sat ourselves after ordering, and everything was made fresh. So, it took about 15 minutes or so for our order to be called. EVERYTHING was absolutely fantastic! I recommend literally anything above, which leads me to believe that probably just about everything here is very, very good! I think our favorite were the butter ___ dishes, especially the butter paneer. Their butter sauce recipe is extremely flavorful, and different (in a GREAT way!!) than any other butter sauce I've ever had! I highly recommend it! We'll be back soon, and frequently! The moment you open the doors it smells so good. The atmosphere is very relaxed. There is music playing but nothing too loud or crazy. Food seems to be cooked fresh which is a huge plus. The butter chicken and steak and lamb were pretty good. No complaints here. We will be back soon. The service was very good as well

I went in there thinking it is regular coffee shop and ordered coffee. They gave me some sweet stuff instead of saying they don't have coffee. It was so sweet that I paid for it and dumped in trash and left. The girl could have told me that we don't have regular coffee and not charge me $5 dollars for small cup. What a rip off and horrible place. They need to tell people this is machine made coffee like QuickTrip and not Starbucks type brew coffee.

Came in to try after someone had told me great things and I will say it did not disappoint. My mom and I ordered the Saffron chai and it was incredible. Know that you can customize your sweetness level--I got it half sweet and my mom got it with full sweetness and it was delicious either way. Very authentic and was an elevated version of the chai I grew up drinking with my parents. The food....so good. We got the Papdi Chaat and Butter Chicken plate and both dishes were SO flavorful and a great spice level. I will say that the butter chicken surprised me with its spice level so beware if you are sensitive to spice--but I thought it was perfect. The space itself is so nice and clean inside. They have a lovely play area that my son loved. We will definitely be back again and again I'm sure! Thank you, Chai Cafe!

Best chai I've ever had, and was pleasantly surprised by the food, too. Lots of space to meet up or hang out (it will make a much better hang out if they turn down the music, which is loud), but it's a great find and certainly beats the other food options in the strip mall. Definitely come here if you any kind of chai, or if you want a clean chill spot to hang out in the area. If they get really popular, I do hope they'll downsize their menu so they can keep up.

Really great place to hang out with family and friends! They have a great variety of chats and they were all fantastic. I especially enjoyed the samosa chaat. They also have several different types of chai. I'm not normally a fan of Kashmiri chai, but the Kashmir chai here was VERY good. In addition to a large array of halal food options, they have a play area for kids and a huge variety of board games/card games you can play. Great spot!

I like the food and the multiple choices of chai that I did not know existed. Service was good. Easy to find. Right off highway 69.

The food there is so amazing! Zain bhai did an awesome job taking care of me and the other customers. This was my 3rd time coming to Chai Cafe. Dine in is also amazing, I am definitely coming back soon!

Came here on a Saturday morning for chai and snacks. The papdi chaat was average, could have used more spice and chutneys. The chais were great. Would recommend the masala chai, Kashmiri chai (a bit on the sweeter side), and desi coffee. Drinks tend to be sweet here so ask for it half sweet or unsweetened. Clean atmosphere. Service is quick and staff is friendly!

A gem in a middle of no where. Couldn't believe Kansas would have such a place. Great vibe, ambience and service. Most international food restaurants lack ambiance but this place felt great. I tried the bun kabob and club sandwich (4 layers was exclusive) Loved the chai and coffee options they had. Regular, zafrani and quela chai to name a few. Will definitely stop by again.

This is a lovely little gem in OP. I have stopped in a few times and love whatever I try on the menu. The only thing I did not completely love was the amount of boondi at the bottom of my mixed papdi chaat bowl as it sucked up all the liquidy goodness I d my snack. The Kashmiri chai is my favorite that I have tried so far and they do make it with oatmilk if you ask, so perfect for people with food restrictions. The staff and cashiers are very helpful in explaining items on the menu as well. There's a small selection of grab and go desserts as well and some Indian beverages available. This is a little slice of nostalgia whenever I come in.

We came for dinner again today. This time I tried the chicken cheese paratha, and my husband had the club sandwich. I also had the chicken spring rolls. Both my paratha and spring rolls were pretty good; rolls were fresh, flavorful and perfectly crisped! Chicken cheese paratha was also comforting, warm, simple and yummy! (I now understand their parathas are the Malaysian puff parathas, not the home made actual traditional parathas- but since now I know, I have come to accept the fact, can manage my expectationsُ, and enjoy the idea/creation!) What however I still CANNOT accept is sweetened Kashmiri chai- and the excuse that that is what it's supposed to be, when it most definitely is NOT!!! AND it's an easy fix- remove the sugar from the mix they are making themselves (I asked today and was told they put the sugar in the mix they make themselves); and then everyone is happy!! Anyone (which would be most people according to the owners) who wants it can then just add it after! Today however they said they will try to do remove it next time- so I have to go again to check if they kept their word!

Was open Christmas Day, so we stopped by. Ordered aalo samosa, paratha, Kashmiri chai All delicious!

They're popular for a reason! Sour cream crumb cake is absolutely worth the calories. Moist and tasty and lots of crumble on top. I always order my favorite Gao Wen tea (Hugo tea brand), it's got a deliciously complex flavor and with a splash of cream and stevia there's no better cup in town. If it's too hot for tea you'll find me sipping a cold local kombucha.

My Favorite Breakfast Spot -- and Ode to My First Dog, Layla…read more McLain's Market has easily become my favorite breakfast place in KC. It's got that ideal coffee shop & chill vibe -- during the week you'll see adults working quietly on laptops, and on weekends it turns into a mix of families, kids, and regulars who clearly love the place. The staff is always friendly, and the self-serve water station is a nice touch. Coffee: I've tried the lattes twice and the Salted Market Cold Foam Cold Brew (Sway Coffee Roasters cold brew + market syrup cold foam) once. Both are good -- not life-changing, but solid. I actually don't come here for the coffee; I come for the food. Breakfast: Quiche (Veggie or Bacon & Sausage) - Comes with a side of parmesan arugula salad. The veggie version surprised me -- I usually go for meat, but this one wins for balance and flavor. The meat version is good too, just a bit salty. Veggie: 4.5/5 | Meat: 4/5 The Farm Sandwich - Scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, veggies, cheddar, poblano spread, and avocado on a croissant. That croissanty, buttery base and poblano spread: Absolute chef's kiss. My mom and I both love this one -- buttery, filling, and comforting in every bite. 5/5 Pepper Jack Burrito - Scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, pepper jack cheese, and serrano sauce. Great kick from the sauce! If they toasted the wrap, it'd be a perfect 5/5 instead of 4/5. Chorizo Bowl - Over-easy egg, chorizo, sweet potatoes, quinoa, black beans, avocado, green onion + charred salsa. I'm usually not a quinoa fan (it's the "brown rice of health food"), but somehow they make it amazing. Sweet, savory, hearty -- the kind of dish that makes you forget it's healthy. A perfect brunch bowl. 5/5 -- honestly should be 6/5. Bakery Items: Carrot muffin and cinnamon donut -- both are light, perfectly sweet, and just the right size. 5/5 Layla's Last Breakfast This place also has sentimental meaning for me. On the day I had to say goodbye to my dog, Layla, I bought her breakfast from McLain's -- biscuits and gravy, and The Farm sandwich. That was her last meal before the vet came to our house. I'll never forget that she left feeling full and loved. So yeah, McLain's isn't just a café to me -- it's comfort, consistency, and a piece of my heart.

Payton ended up taking my order: CBS with MIXED GREENS, MATCHA TEA and a MUDSLIDE made with SOY MILK! The space is very large with multiple seating areas, quiet corners, plenty of open dining and enclosed room dining as well. It has a walkthrough to the bakery side along with mini store selling cups, Messner Farms merchandise and more. Now I really enjoyed my CBS: marinated chicken, bacon, red onion, cheddar cheese, tomato and chipotle mayo on brioche potato roll.. sounds pretty good huh! It was devine! Those combined ingredients made for one of the best chicken sandwiches hot or cold (because I could finish it in one sitting) I've had! Now I picked at the chicken solo and it didn't have too much flavor but as a sandwich everything comes together well! I wasn't too impressed with the Mudslide.. it was dreary, no hit of chocolate or creme so I'm not sure what it was supposed to be. My mom said the match with honey syrup was decent. Everything for the price definitely ensured my only trip.
