I have shopped in AAFES facilities all over the world, including Europe, Asia and throughout the USA for most of my life. Scott AFB AAFES is sadly, the poorest Exchange I have used. The selection of items available is not up to the level of other large exchanges when it comes to variety IMHO. The vast majority of items carried are also not made in the USA, which is in large part the fault of the American companies outsourcing their products. This even includes the Scott AFB T-shirts and other military related items in the main store. IMHO, it would, however, behoove AAFES as an entity to seek out products that are Made in America such as jeans, other clothing items, kitchenware, etc. I would even suggest an area specifically identified as American made items. Although there are definite exceptions, the exchange staff is of little help when there are customer service issues, particularly in electronics. The attitude of many of the employees is one of doing the customers a favor by speaking with them and a sense of entitlement deeming military members have no other choices. Only reason we shop there is it is next to the commissary and convenient to run in if we need something specific. Most of the time, however, we go to one of the off-base stores and get the same item at the same or lower price without any problems. Overall, locations such as Keesler, Kirkland, Lackland, etc. have better facilities from my perspective. read more

One of the largest AAFES Base Exchanges in the States. I found this location to be every bit as good as any other Base Exchange. Prices are comparable with outside big-box stores, minus any local sales tax. Where the big-box stores carry the same item, AAFES can usually beat them in price or total product package offerings. Well stocked, with a nice layout and cheerful employees. Their 'mall' offerings outside the entrance were also well organized, and the food court was doing a good business. The Uniform Shop was at the opposite end of the mall from the food court. I will be sure to stop by on my next trip thru this area. read more

I'd give it a five except for Dominos in the food court. Everywhere it's posted to use your star card & get 10% off. They don't honor this by saying their food is already discounted. I believe they should post they don't honor military star discount in the food court. Shame on them & Scott for letting them get by with this. Otherwise, beautiful base. This particular Exchange doesn't seem to be anything special. They lack sections I've seen at other bases that are even smaller than this one. Most of the time on average items you can get a better deal at other stores like lowes who offer a military discount than you can at prices here. Half the time they don't have items we need that we've seen at other Aafes stores on other bases. I only come here for a few very specific items we already know they have. Otherwise we never think to look here for items because usually we'll go in and they'll tell us to go somewhere else. The other stores at the front of the exchange all seem pretty enough but we have little use for them. I will say the small food court is all right, the food there (for fast food) is usually pretty good and while often understaffed (read: slow) I have never had something I didn't enjoy. So that area is probably the one I'd most recommend, but overall it's no where near the best Exchange. If you're looking for liquor you might as well go to the gas station on base, they have a better selection. The one good thing is that from time to time the base hosts food truck gatherings, those are generally great - but they didn't change my rating from a 2 to a 3 because they are fairly rare. Generally I'd say you are better off going to other stores in the area that offer discounts. read more

Like just about any AAFES establishment I've been at, this facility has the attitude that they are entitled to the business of military members stationed at Scott AFB. Popular video games and DVDs are not stocked upon their release date. In fact, popular video games are rarely stocked at all. Electronics such as computers are usually obsolete, but the prices aren't adjusted accordingly. Prices are usually beaten by the nearby Belleville Walmart or Shiloh Target, which have better quality merchandise anyhow. Frankly, it's almost as if stocking what people want would take real effort, and then people would buy it and it would have to be restocked, requiring even MORE effort! read more

It is what it is. We (military) can get cheaper products like some coach purses and stuff like that. If you've been in one, you have been in them all. They don't have the same selection as most stores, but the perfume/ colognes are cheaper and so are the electronics and we don't pay the taxes. read more

Honestly, I don't feel as though I save that much money by shopping here. When I go for a larger ticket item, like my MacBook Pro or iPod, I save the tax, but that's about it. Any other item you're probably going to spend less or equal to at Walmart or Target. Sorry BX, but Target is across the street from my apartment. Better luck with people who live on base. read more

AAfes is irrelevent. The food court is ricicuous. I wanted a taco at 6:18 PM. Taco Bell was closed. All other options in the food court were closed, besides Dominos. I didn't want a pizza. Sunday should not equal closing. I wanted food. The base said food wasn't an option. What do the 3-11 PM people do food eating? read more
