During this time of the year, I used to be so frustrated with Kohl's. It's always seemed understaffed, and you would have to wait in the longest line to check out. However, I believe that has all changed. My last few experiences during and not during the holiday season, have been delightful. Whether I have had a return or a purchase, I have been able to get in and get out. I believe the self check out has truly helped Get the lines through efficiently. I'm not a big fan of self checkouts however these work for Kohl's. read more

I had ordered a couple of NCAA tees from Kohls a couple weeks ago. With the initial delivery - only one of the two was the correct size, and that one had a hole in it. So I returned that order, and re-ordered again making sure that when I re-ordered that I had selected the same size for both shirts. Again both shirts were shipped in the wrong size, and not even the same size. Okay, I thought, well the third times the charm, I'll try again one more time. 3rd order arrived today, and yes, you guessed correctly, both shirts on this order were wrong sizes also. So I'm done with these yay-hoos. I'll just pay more and buy them from Fanatics From here on out. Geeesh!! read more

I made a purchase on Tuesday, and the first time I swiped my card, it was approved on my end but the cashier said it was not approved on hers and I was asked to swipe my card again. I was skeptical but did it anyway. While my second swipe was processing, I pulled up my bank app and two transactions, of the same amount-$169, appeared as pending. A manager was called over and she explained that one of the pending amounts would "fall off" and if it did not I would be able to call and have it removed. Of course, the next day, both transactions were still there and no longer pending. I called the store and explained the situation to another manager and she said she would call me back. I was not called back so the next day I went to the store and was told the issue was reported to "Audit" and one of the transactions would be refunded in 7-10 business days and I should call my bank if I have questions and there was no other action they could take. WTF? This is not my problem or my bank's problem. So here I sit, checking my bank account for the next 7 days, waiting for $169 to magically appear in my account. Not one employee really ever apologized or acted like they even cared. Zero customer service--no wonder why people are shopping online. That's the very last time I'll visit Kohls. read more

Ever wonder why Kohl's sends you $10 cards in the mail? I always get these $10 cards, and I never use them. But today I also had a $10 off $30 Kohl's email, and since I had time, I figured I'd go in and find something for the boyfriend, who has been complaining about his clothes. So I go in, and the place is trashed. I don't even know how they sell stuff...they sure have lots of things, but everything is disorganized and all over the place. The regularly-priced merchandise is mostly in neat stacks, but almost 85% of the store is on sale at any given time so chaos pretty much reigns over those racks. Don't even bother with clearance racks: the size marked on the hangers don't correlate with the clothing on it nor is the clothing aligned with its appropriate rack size marker. Smalls in the extra-large section. Dresses with men's jeans. It's a free-for-all. Plus, the clothes are so jumbled up and packed so tightly on the rail; you could pretty much wrench a shoulder trying to browse through the rack. Feeling pretty discouraged, I figured I could get some bathroom stuff or kitchen stuff. Yeah, nothing really there either. One white toilet seat cover and two white bath rugs in the entire four aisles of bathroom paraphernalia. Three other toilet seat covers. What am I supposed to do if my toilet seat cover is green but my bath rug is purple? First world problems, I tell you. So I go to check out after spending four hours in there trying to spend some money. Of course they wouldn't let me use my email code, but they were extremely willing to try to persuade me to open up a Kohl's card to get Kohl's Cash. Please, no. I can't even begin to spend the cash you send me by mail! A big giant bag for three polo shirts. No wonder they need to pay you to take their merchandise. read more

I am a big fan of Kohl's. They have a rather large selection of quality clothes and housewares. Their prices are competitive with other retailers and often times you can get some really great deals. I've never been dissatisfied with the quality of clothes Kohl's offers. The associates here are usually pretty helpful too. You can beat that value. read more

A department store chain that expanded rapidly in the 90s and 2000s but has been a bit stagnant for the last few years amid strong challenges from online retailing competitors. This was the go-to place when I was in my teens and 20s...but there has been a strong decline in customer service and quality for the last few years. I have made exactly one purchase from Kohl's in the last 5 years: a pair of clearance running shoes. On Monday, November 12, around noon, I made a call to the Fairview Heights Kolh's shoes department. I was calling to see if a pair of shoes I had seen in clearance were still available. After a hold time of 30 minutes (30 minutes!) I finally gave up and ordered the same shoes from Amazon. When a local retailer can't even get the phones answered, what's the point? read more

This location is always overwhelmed at the registers and the customer service desk, they just don't have enough people focusing on what matters, it seems. I order several pick-up in store purchases every month and there is always a line at customer service, I can tell the employees are annoyed and wish they had more people to tackle the long wait. They also share the "blue bird" I think they call it, to scan items and find their locations, which makes the wait even longer. At other locations when I use the "On My Way" button from the email the items are waiting at the desk, not here, still have to get the items after waiting for X amount of people before you, although these are supposed to take priority over returns, I thought. It's not much of a convenience. read more

Today while visiting Kohls, the sky opened up and it was pouring down rain. A lady who just made a purchase started walking towards the door and saw the rain and asked the cashier for a second bag to protect her new purchase. The cashier, coldly told the customer "no we can't give out a second bag". The lady was caught off guard, gave a strange surprised look and walked away. I observed this interaction and was surprised as well. I asked the cashier why and she said it is just our policy. I let her know something like that would make me not want to return because it didn't seem very customer friendly. While I understand policy, there should always be an exception. She replied and said down thing about security and that they won't even give an extra bag to women to protect their hair in the rain. Instead of a clear opportunity for better customer service and a chance to to win a customer for life, she lost one (if not two). read more

I have lost my wallet . I had no trouble in getting to the right person to put a block or discontinue the credit cards that were in the wallet. They all had web sites with phone numbers I could call last night, and talk to people who reassured me that they would issue new cards with different account numbers. Not so with Kohl's! I had to wait until today, and when I called the number of the Fairview store, they gave me another number to call, and the automated instructions said I had to give my account number, which I do not know, it is on the lost card, or my full social security number. I do not give my full social security number to anyone! There were positively no other options, and the same annoying voice just kept repeating until I hung up. I really needed to talk to a live person, so I guess I will just have to take a chance on someone running up a bunch of charges, and hope the cashier will request their ID. So, I could put the other credit card worries off of my mind, but not Kohl's!.It is bad enough to lose your wallet, but when you are unable to get the lost credit cards reported, it makes it so much worse. At this point, I am feeling very anxious also frustrated. read more
