Every once in a while you drive past a place so many times that it almost becomes part of the…read morescenery. That was the Turkey Hill Experience for me. I'd driven past it countless times over the last few years but either didn't have enough time to stop or couldn't convince anyone else to stop with me. During my Lancaster Adventure Day, though, all of that changed. I purchased a Single Scoop ticket online ahead of time for $16.75 and reserved the very first time slot of the day at 10am. I figured a late-summer Thursday morning would be the sweet spot, and it turned out to be a great decision. It was busy enough that the place felt lively but not so crowded that I had to wait for every exhibit. Parking was plentiful, and I somehow managed to snag a spot right in front of the GIANT cow out front. Honestly, my day was already off to a fantastic start! The only hiccup of the visit came during check-in. Even though I'd already purchased my ticket online, I still had to wait in the same line as everyone buying gift shop items, purchasing admission and asking questions. Since there were only a two employees working both the registers and admissions, the line moved a little slower than I expected. If I could change one thing, it would be creating a separate express check-in line for folks who already have tickets. Once I finally made it inside, though, everything became easy peasy! The exhibits are completely self-guided, so you can wander at your own pace learning how Turkey Hill makes its ice cream and iced tea while playing with interactive displays along the way. One of my favorite parts was creating my own virtual ice cream flavor, complete with custom packaging. I also wanted to film my own Turkey Hill commercial, but those stations stayed busy the entire time I was there, so that'll have to wait until another visit. Naturally, I made a beeline for the tea sampling station. As someone who appreciates sugar-free options, I was thrilled to find both Zero Sugar Sweet Tea and Zero Sugar Fruit Punch available to sample. Both were fantastic! Then it was time for the part we'd all been waiting for...unlimited ice cream samples. One thing I really appreciated is that they weren't tiny little "blink and it's gone" samples. You picked two flavors, and they served actual scoops in a bowl. For an attraction centered around ice cream, that felt exactly right. My only tiny complaint? Wooden popsicle sticks instead of spoons. They definitely got the job done, but they made eating melting ice cream a little more awkward than it needed to be. Still...free and unlimited ice cream? I'm not about to complain too loudly! I spent about an hour wandering through the exhibits, playing with the interactive displays and enjoying the air conditioning on a hot August morning before making one final stop in the gift shop. Prices there were about what you'd expect for a tourist attraction, but there were plenty of fun souvenirs if you're looking to bring a little Turkey Hill home with you. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend visiting the Turkey Hill Experience at least once. I don't know that it's somewhere I'd return over and over again, but it was a fun, interactive way to spend an hour learning something new, eating entirely acceptable quantities of free ice cream and escaping the August heat. That sounds like a pretty successful adventure day to me!

I was nervous to go in the streets in the beginning, but once I got my confidence I was enjoying the tour as well as the ease the we went through the neighborhoods! The group had a great time and we finished at the same place we started, which just happens to be Big Ass Slices Bar and Grill so a friend and I grabbed a slice and a drink. The tour we picked started off at Silence Dogood's Tavern, where we got our stickers, pizza from Big Ass Pizza and a round. That pizza was awesome and so were the pizza tots! A tour director that is taking the easy way out by calling a guest instead of the family directly to have a conversation. My mother booked a bus tour/Norwegian Cruise tour with a group of old friends that was supposed to leave in September. Sadly, my mother recently passed away, but during the fight of her life she "missed" the cancellation day for Starr tours. Under these extenuating circumstances you would think a company would put people over profits. Not Starr tours. They are doubling down. When I called to plead with them a woman named Sandy kept referring to their policy instead of having compassion. She kept passing the buck saying it's not in her "scope" to make those kinds of decisions. When I asked to speak to someone who can make those decisions she decided to shield her bosses and say they aren't available. All she could end the conversation with was "try to have a better day." It was a cold conversation. Try to have a better day? I don't know how these people sleep at night. I hope their money keeps them warm at night. BTW Norwegian has a 30 day cancellation policy, so they have a chance to get money back out of this, but they clearly aren't working hard enough. I decided to take a trip to their company building to plead with them further. Sandy answered the door and reluctantly let me in after realizing who I was. I gave a copy of the death certificate and once again pleaded my case. I was given the same lip service, but that the person who could help me further wouldn't be in for the rest of the week. I patiently waited for a phone call from a Chris and still haven't received a call. If it's the same person this Chris called my mothers friend on the trip instead of me to let her know she would have to pay extra (over $1,300) for single occupancy on the trip OR we would have to find someone to buy my mothers trip (around $1,800). NO phone call to me as of yet. Also how do you do this to a grieving friend? They were friends for almost 60 years! How can these people be so cowardly? Where is the compassion? In the last few weeks I have had to deal with the unexpected loss of my mother and all of the funeral plans. Spending countless hours of time making the calls to various places to make them aware of her death and this company has the guts to do this. In the bio of the company the owner Sandy sounded so relatable. Her and her husband Pete had to fight, scratch and claw to keep their livelihood and company that her father built from the ground up alive during the pandemic. My mother fought so hard to save her life. I'm so sorry she couldn't call your company on time because she was too busy trying to live. In business you can't always point to policy. Beyond policy, how can you treat people like this and think it's ok? I hope the owner reads and fixes this because the staff is only making a terrible tragedy even worse! Don't force a grieving family to have to peddle my mothers trip. Do the RIGHT thing. Truly heartless and painful experience!

There were only 5 of us, so plenty of time to climb. Our Guide, Bob, was so patient, engaged and informative. I learned a lot of great things that I had not known before about clothing, ropes and technique. Bob was so patient with me and was there with his " green pointer" to help me over the tough spots. You should know that I am 74 years old and tho I have climbed indoors for a few years, my stamina was not that of the youngsters who were there! Nonetheless, it was a great time! I highly recommend Valley to Summit, this being my 3 rd trip with them. They Rock!

The guides were patient and helpful with the small group in getting gear on and going over all the safety equipment. They were never impatient with anyone and insanely kind. You could tell the guides truly enjoyed bringing everyone out to this amazing trail at Ricketts Glen State Park. I wasn't sure what to expect but OMG it was worth the money spent to have these guys/gals guide me through the trails. I took tons of pictures and was never rushed at all while taking in the views and photos. This company comes highly recommended amongst the hiking community even out of state.

Our boat captain was a very nice fellow and our tour guide was likewise personable and knowledgeable. We enjoyed more of a conversation about the history and the various sights we passed as we traveled on these two rivers. The weather was perfect, not too hot or cold, and the wind we hit on the Schuylkill was bracing and refreshing! It was also interesting to see how the lower end of the Schuylkill river still looks a little wild from the perspective of the water. It was also exciting to turn a bend and see the city come back into view. If you like to be on the water, I highly recommend this tour company.
