As are many in this bright beautiful world, I am a 100% certified born and bred bonafide deep-seated DMV Hater. So I was given some advice to try this AAA DMV Service. I was hesitant because my needs were a little complex, Business vehicles swapping plates with a new registration and surrendered plates. Well, it went a little something like this. It was 2:08pm when I got to the counter. I told Lucy my story and she gave me candy (I was turned away at the Commercial DMV and was pretty pissed) we went through everything, she repeated it to make sure she understood and we were off registering vehicles and surrendering tags like crazy people. I walked out of there with everything I needed complete, absolutely complete! AND! I still made it to another appointment I had at 2:30pm, Yep, you heard that right. If I don't ever have to step foot inside another State run DMV I will be eternally grateful. Thank you AAA and most of all, Thank you Lucy! I see you've been mentioned here before and rightly so. So I don't normally post reviews but this one demanded it. I live in the Tahoe area and this week we had a major winter storm(blizzard really). I got stuck in a snow bank and could not get out even in my Subaru which does have snow tires on it. I called AAA and requested service and then waited, I got multiple notices that a driver had been assigned and they would notify me when he was on his way. about 3 hours later I get a call from a represt telling me they are not sending anybody that they don't cover that. I have paid for premier membership for many years and told them this was unacceptable. They tied to give a bull excuse and said I would have to call a different tow company to get me out. I was stuck in the snow for almost 12 hours in life threatening situation and they did not care. I think everybody needs to hear this so they know that AAAwilljust decide not to help you. Almost ran out of gas waiting for help, luckily a sheriff showed up and pulled me out with just enough gas to get back into town. Jeremy helped me pay my annual dues today. The AAA membership is like a "life hack" because they have a DMV authorized rep who can handle many transactions without having to go the regular DMV. Today I was able to do the paperwork of transferring my title from a lien from a lease buy out to used car loan on the same vehicle title for the same car at AAA and get it registered and tagged for another year. Ah, my passport was expiring, and I needed new pics, a chore you need to do every 10 years. Sure, you could take the pics yourself then have them printed out for cheap at Walmart or the like, but I am not too tech savvy, and I didn't really have a good backdrop to take them. So, what do you do in that case? Head to AAA! I have been a member since 1992, and they offer reduced fee passport photos for members (only $9, or $20 for non-members). Perfect! I came to this branch late in the day on September 28, 2022. I am very happy with the service I received. The process was quick and painless. AAA, at least in Reno, has now changed their office to make it a more comfortable experience. Similar to certain banks/credit unions and phone or cable companies, there is a waiting room with a concierge-type person who greets you and steers you in the right direction. That they did. I was seen immediately. I first had to verify my membership, then had to pay. I chose to use my debit card, with the credit option, but for some reason the system demanded I use it as debit and wanted a PIN. After some fussing with the system, the rep was so nice he just waived the fee for me! Wow...that was unexpected and super nice! The photo part was easy. He took me in the back area and knew quickly how to prepare the machine. It was done in under a few minutes. Voila! I had two wonderful passport photos to show for it, all in a nice card-like binder. I noticed the branch had free Wi-Fi for members and was clean and cozy. Not busy at all. Parking was a little tight, but not too bad as it was near the end with service businesses mostly and a small restaurant rather than the big retail stores. I notice people have complained about the parking on the Yelp page for the shopping center itself, but I found it secluded and cozy, maybe because I was in the less busy part, facing away from the main area. Anyway, I am so glad I have been a member for so long. The peace of mind they provide for car service and other perks like the passport photos is well worth the small annual cost. read more

Time is money. Save time from DMV appointments with AAA. You can receive new plates, receive tags, pay registration, and I am sure much more. This is very convenient and worth the cost with the time you save. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If you don't like talking on the phone all day and prefer to walk in and talk to someone regarding insurance, this is the place for you. DMV services make this worth it by a long shot. Being able to talk to someone that is not across the country is another benefit. Thanks AAA for realizing this and thanks for saving us so much time. Now we can avoid waiting at the DMV and wasting precious time. Another thing AAA removed from my life is being on time consuming phone calls, i definitely do not miss explaining myself to a new person after each call transfer with the other insurance companies. I went there for DMV services and also to renew my membership. While there I was also given contact information for a travel advisor. I wasn't as pleased with the parking as there are other businesses that share the parking space but everything else related to AAA and theirs services exceeded my expectations. read more

In today's episode of "How AAA treats its customers"... I received a call from Robert at Member Relations. Here's another person (allegedly) who reads every word of every Terms and Conditions document for everything he does online and "...it's the consumer's responsibility to read the Terms and Conditions." That all sounds good in theory, but I have apparently found the only 2 people in the known universe that reads the Terms and Conditions every time. (I still call BS on this-give me proof or it didn't happen.) Needless to say, all of the issues I dealt with over the three days of trying to get my car home were really not resolved to my satisfaction. My car is home thanks to Zach with Silver State Towing in Gardnerville, and I'll make sure he gets his 5 star review as soon as this one is done. I'm not asking for AAA to tell me what personnel changes/corrections are being made-that's none of my business. However, the changes that I've asked for with regard to putting in a PopUp on the app that tells you that you don't get roadside assistance for 48 hours after you sign up, putting the Terms and Conditions front and center and requiring that they be read before allowing someone to sign up for AAA and making sure that the 48 hour rule is not buried 7/8ths of the way to the end of the Terms and Conditions but is featured prominently at the top are also being called "proprietary information" and I won't be notified about them either. So suffice to say that the 15 minutes I spent on the phone with Robert from Member Relations was completely wasted (like my mileage back and forth to Fernley for 2 days) and it's 15 minutes I'll never get back. I truly believe that, after this experience, AAA could not care less about me as a member, whether or not I renew my membership, or anything else. It's truly sad what they have become. read more

Well run and efficient service here. They have a greeter that will send you in the right place and issued a place in line, so all you gotta do is sit and wait, no standing up in line. I was here for DMV services, beats the heck outta going to the DMV! I was 5th in line and waited maybe 20 min, so that that bad. The service tech was well trained in the procedures and there were no problems. Done in 5 min. Pissed the Carson City office closed though, but I get to Reno often enough, it's not that big a deal. read more

Customer service is nonexistent. First I live on an acre in rural Nevada. I received a letter stating my homeowner insurance would not be renewed because there was debris, appliances, broken down cars on my property. I called to ask why I received this letter because I have none of those items on my property. I stated I have some firewood for a fire pit on my patio a trailer to transport an atv and two dog houses. They also said my roof needed repair. I informed them the roof was a 50 year roof that was only 15 years old and in perfect condition. They said an airplane flew over and took pictures, I said I want to see them. The roof showed no damage and just the items I described were in the photo. I was advised I had to take pictures to show what I was stating was true. I said it was ridicules to require me to take pictures of the roof when the photos show a perfect roof. They said I should pay someone one to go on the roof to take the pictures. If I didn't send pictures I could not renew my policy. Later I received an email saying the roof was fine. The person I was talking to basically stated I couldn't have anything on my property. I took pictures of the items I described and sent them in and received a reply saying they would respond in 2 days. It's been a week and no response. This seems to just be a way to cancel policies. I have had home and car insurance with them for a long time maybe the premiums are too low, I don't know but this is the worse customer service I have experienced from an insurance company and it should be noted I have never submitted a claim since I have had insurance with them. Even if they renew my policy I'm looking for a new insurance company. read more

I am a 30 year customer of AAA and have had the service in many different states. I can say that this Reno office is definitely the worst that I have dealt with. The hours and days of operation are constantly changing which is very frustrating as it is not close to my house and I have ended up there when it is closed on more than one occasion. Yesterday, I went over to use the kiosk for a registration renewal. Upon arrival, there were a number of people standing outside. Apparently due to heavy smoke from the wildfires, they were only letting people in if they had an appointment and only opening the door every 30 minutes. What appalling customer service! AAA is in an air conditioned building. Why on earth would they not be doing business as usual like every other business in Reno? And why is it ok for their customers to wait outside in the smoke? Suspiciously their self serve kiosk was out of order as well according to a sign on the door. I ended up at the DMV using their kiosk with no issue. I pay for the Plus package with the 100 mile towing which had turned out to not be worth the extra money. Our car broke down just over the California border and we were told that they won't tow over state lines. WTF? They don't tell you that when you sign up, that's for sure. Complete waste of money. AAA is becoming less and less worthwhile. It's more expensive than it used to be, takes longer to get roadside assistance and the people in the office are rude, unhelpful and are only interested in selling you their insurance. If you have the option of roadside assistance through another means, take a hard look at that before you sign on with AAA. read more

We are cancelling after 30 years as your company AAA, has ceased being a helpful, courteous and efficient company. We have been frustrated beyond limits with rude people, call centers that hang up on us, argumentative employees, mis information on our policies etc. We are simply tired of the woke attitude, lack of knowledge, rudeness, outrageous time spent on hold and call centers. So we are letting AAA know with our pocket book AKA: money. I am tired of dealing with men and women that act like entitled brats. i went with aaa insurance. id had them before and loved it. but; now i'm having issues communication with my agent. i tried to add flood insurance, can't be done unless you go through fema? also, want to buy a van. seems to be issues with buying a certain type of van? they didn't want to insure because people live in the van??? not the agents call. i may have to go to a more open company. this is a insurance company? correct? maybe, the insurance commissioner will know. read more

I had forgotten to register my vehicle in Feb 2020. Fast forward 2 years later and I received a ticket for non registration. Tried to go to the DMV and found out they only take appointments and I had to go to the DMV to pay the fine. My wife suggested going to Reno AAA. As I was waiting another woman came in and sat down next to me speaking loudly on her phone about how the vote has been stolen. Ok not my concern She them went to the information booth and immediately pulled her mask down. As she was licking her finger to flip through her paperwork and then touch the counter ect The older man in the hawaiian shirt never asked her to put her mask on. Purchased the Plus Card which covers towing up to 100 miles. Car broke down just in California just outside the Nevada border on 395. (Under 100 miles) Was told it would be ten hours before a tow truck would come. Called a tow company in Reno and it came out immediately and, surprise, surprise, the truck was painted in the AAA logo. No more Plus for me. read more

40 years with triple A and they change their rules every year. I had a claim last year when someone hit me and because she wouldn't respond to her insurance I had to wait 30 days for Triple a to help me. I just now tried to get insurance for my son who cancelled his insurance because his car was gone and it was 4 days ago and know triple a says if you have lapse of coverage for more than 3 days they can't cover you. I will be looking for a company that is not so corrupt. 40 years I probably paid for a few of their homes. read more

I have been a patron of AAA for 17 years now and have my car and homeowners insurance with them. Most of my communicating with AAA has been through the internet but I did have the occasion to come into this Reno office once and get everything set up when i moved to Northern Nevada. I like the assurance that if my car decided to leave me stranded, I can place a call and get a tow to get the car fixed. Or if I had a flat or dead battery, I could get some help with a change or a jump. AAA has some great travel deals too and I have used them on occasion. The people at AAA are friendly. Makes for a pleasant experience. Also a great alternative to going to the DMV in some areas read more

I went into the branch and requested maps, I was approached immediately by a team member who told me it would be a few minutes to retrieve the maps I had requested. While I waited I was approached by 3 other team members to make sure I had been helped. The maps I requested were delivered to me within a few minutes. Everyone was helpful and friendly, the wait was short, the waiting area was clean and welcoming. Very satisfied with my visit! read more

I've never had any issues with ANY AAA services or locations but today was the first. The gentleman who answered my call was short, rude and incompetent. I had asked a simple question and he kept telling me "I don't know what you're asking" or "I don't get what you want" not sure how else to word my question any simpler than the way I did. When I asked if I would be able to get my services done he scoffed and said no. Telling people no is fine, just don't do it with an attitude however because you're frustrated. I would like to add that I didn't get rude or snippy with the associate, honestly didn't have a chance before they hung up. Do better, this isn't it. read more

It's probably worse if you don't have AAA insurance since they take insured members first. Even the agents are slow to call back for new car insurance. As a new NV resident I had to register our vehicle in NV, and the current (UT) registration which I had accidentally let expire partly due to a serious accident which required surgery. Appointments the DMV were 2 months away so I tried the Reno branch of AAA. I arrived 10 minutes before they opened, was first in line, and had the good fortune to have Lucita Chavez helping me. As it turned out, I didn't have the proper insurance ID card, but Lucy waited patiently while I called my insurance agent to have the proper car emailed over. Thanks to Lucy's patience, competence and friendliness, I was able to get my vehicle registered. The office is located in a nice, smallish mall, and the building is spacious which, together with the staff, exudes a friendly atmosphere. read more

AAA is a rip-off. My moms been a member since 1953 and has probably used them twice. She's 92, has Alzheimer's and is housebound now. I used her car to run an errand for her and the battery died. Called AAA and was told I'd have to go home and get her if i wanted roadside assistance. God knows how much my mom's paid them over the years. Oh, and only my mom can cancel...even though she probably won't be able to comprehend what it is they're asking her to do. Returned to the this office again to try again to make arrangements for the UYE Sacramento Train Escape. Again I appeared without an appointment because I was in the area. I was told it would be a few minutes before an agent was available, offered a seat and a beverage. Totally fine, I get the wait when you just show up. The office manager Christi Allen came over and introduced herself and said she would have Karen TenBroeck assist me today. In just a few minutes I was back in Karen's office explaining want I needed. And she was on the phone with AmTrak working out the details. I greatly appreciate the time she spent with Amtrak, they really aren't the easiest company to deal with. Unfortunately, I felt I wasted some of her time. AmTrak group was for 20+ and we couldn't use it after all Karen's work. But I have continued to try other travel arrangements with Karen and Melissa by email. Now it's just a matter of finding the right trip for the price I can do. They do put together a fabulous Disney hopper package with good neighbor hotels that is incredibly affordable. read more

When you AAA is there for you, THINK AGAIN!!! I arrive to this office well before closing and am denied service. I had shoes and a shirt so it wasn't that. There were at least 6 workers in there sitting and standing and staring at me so obviously they were not doing anything! And they were all listening to Gail tell me that they are only accepting payments because ''DMV stuff takes too long...'' Well damn isn't that why I pay for membership and insurance?! Or is it just for the catalogs I get in the mail? There are Absolutely no signs that say "We only do payment services after 5:30 Mon - Friday's and we only do payments only after 1pm on Saturdays" . If there are signs then I missed them. I drove hours through rush hour traffic and more for a "sorry maybe tomorrow!" That doesn't reimburse my gas or time. AAA has changed a lot since I first became a member in the mid 70's It used to be our go to place for any and all travel needs - plane tickets, maps, and my absolute favorite, Trip-Tics. I have stayed with AAA all of these years because of the emergency service which has more than paid for the cost of the membership over the years. I also really like maps. Real maps that have no naggy mechanical voice that tell you to "turn right HERE" We have been using this office ever since the full service office on Plumb closed. I only use it to get maps and travel guides. It is ok as far as it goes. The maps for local and regional travel are distributed by vending machines - swipe your member card, punch a code and it gives you your map. I guess if you want something not regional, you can order it online. There is help available, but usually just to stand by and let you know the vending machines can be "a bit fussy". Took three tries to get get what I wanted. What I do not like about this office is the limited hours. They are not open on weekends and are open during the week from 8:30 - 5:30 so it is difficult to go there during work. I really get the feeling AAA has shifted to putting the emphasis on Insurance rather than travel services. I will continue my membership for the emergency road service and of course the free maps. Trip tics, alas, have gone the way of 8-track tapes. read more
