Needed a passport photo so decided to go to AAA. It was Saturday morning and we were prepared to wait an hour because that seems to be the way it normally goes. But to my surprise there was no line! A very pleasant woman took the photos and the whole transaction took 5 minutes. They didn't even charge me for photos because I guess I have a high enough level membership. I have no respect for this AAA company in the local office. I was trying to talk to Joshua about my situation and it went from OK to really bad. So now I'm trying to get in contact with him about the issue and he felt like he doesn't wanna get involved with that, but I feel like they should because if you representing AAA whether you Locate office or nationwide I feel people need to be representing the company that you work for not trying to take advantage of anybody that are hard-working folks and they barely gets by trying to save money during this crazy time in our daily lives. I called for towing today as my vehicle would not start. That was 12:15 PM. They were going to dispatch a small car with jumper cables. That driver called short time later and agreed that I would need a tow. He indicated he would alert his dispatched to send a tow. (I had previously told the phone agent I had already tried jumping, better to dispatch a tow truck.) I called the AAA Baltimore fleet dispatch after being transferred to people who could not help... wrong areas. The fleet dispatcher indicated I should expect the tow truck by 3 PM. I called before three to confirm and was told it would now be 5:30 for towing. I called to complain and was told by. Petty in Baltimore that it would now be no later than 8PM for the tow!!! There was no inclement weather. Sunny day, temps in 80's 8 hours for a tow is totally unacceptable. I am seeking refund of my AAA membership and compensation for the Lyft ride home. No idea if my car will get towed tonight to Firestone Wallingford. AAA towing is terrible. Every time I have called in the past, there have been issues. I don't have this Insurance Company not once but twice the first time I had this assurance company under my insurance I was married, which is not true so they canceled my insurance this time around. They feel the need to cancel my insurance again and I had them for a second time pay my insurance and now they're gonna tell me they're dropping me or canceling my services for whatever odd reasons yet again that has nothing to do with me making my payments monthly, but because of whatever reasons they feel the need to cancel my my insurance company is disgusting. Although my circumstances were less than desirable my business with AAA was actually enjoyable. I got a flat tire last night on my way home. I called first thing this morning to set up a tow down to my local tire shop. The tow truck driver showed up exactly when he said that he would on the dot. We were at the location within 10 minutes and he dropped my car and said thank you very much and have a great day he was very friendly and kind and understood my situation. read more

We came here to have some documents notarized and it was an easy process. When the gentleman looked at my license for ID, he noticed it was expiring in a few month. He suggested I get it renewed while there. That was a big time saver. I stayed another 15 minutes and saved a trip. And more importantly, I didn't have to visit the DMV. The issues with notary services seem to be endemic to this AAA location. Me and my business partners had the same bad experience. We were told to provide 2 forms of ID. Credit cards without signature or faded signatures were not acceptable. They did not allow signing in front of them. We could sign out of their sight. They then changed their minds and said we could not even do that. Their requirements for the signing kept changing. Any ID you find in a car glove compartment was not acceptable. The AAA card is useless in this situation. Finally, we went to our bank, nearby. We were in and out in 5 minutes, all required documents notarized. read more

I'm sure a lot of people know that you can get your driver's license renewed at your local AAA instead of the DMV, but did you know that it doesn't even require a AAA membership? I didn't, so imagine my surprise when I was informed otherwise. I stopped by on a Thursday afternoon with all my required paperwork, and I was out the door with a new license in less than half an hour. Not bad! The cost of renewing your license is $72, and there's an extra $3 fee if you're not a AAA member, but I figure that was a more-than-reasonable price to pay to avoid having to go the DMV. The staff wasn't the most efficient, but I cut them some slack because their jobs seemed dull as hell. They were all very pleasant, not at all like the sullen faces you see at the DMV. The space itself is clean, new, and airy. If you're looking to renew your license, go to the left side of the building as soon as you walk in and get in the line there. The only thing that annoyed me was the travel commercial that was playing on loop on a TV while I was waiting. Must get pretty annoying for all the people working there to have to hear it all day. All in all, I was happy with my experience, and highly recommend coming here if you need to renew your license! read more

I simply went into AAA to have two documents notarized. I have been a member of that AAA for almost 30 years! I was asked to produce my license, AAA card and credit card. I quickly produced all 3 and was told that because my credit card didn't have a signature she couldn't use it. I would need one with a signature. I told her I had a company card in the car which I went out to get. When I got back to her she said she couldn't accept that and that I either needed a library card or my passport. This is to simply get two documents notarized of which my license has my signature and my credit card has my signature And I've been a member of AAA for almost 30 years. It was a ridiculous way to handle a situation and Even after producing what she asked still not getting the documents notarized. I will not be back and am seriously considering dropping AAA. When signing up with AAA be warned. These are not professional service technicians they are sending out to your vehicle. Numerous customers have waited hours at a time for tows that require you to be there. There is no security in having a roadside program work for you. Long wait times to speak with somebody on the phone to obtain service. Rules change constantly. There is no guarantee of service within a reasonable amount of time. read more

I have been a member of AAA for years and while there is one a little closer to my house in Branford, I come to the Hamden AAA because I have never been made to feel like a customer. They are patient, and courteous but by the end of the transaction, we are sharing life stories and having a good laugh. Will be canceling ASAP. Been a paying member for MANY many years. I am going on the trip, and decided to upgrade to their "plus service". The staff person (who looked embarrassed) basically tells me that I'm being punished for using their service too often in the last year: I'm "not allowed" to upgrade "for the next two years, if you don't use the service too often". This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the stupidest thing I have ever heard in my life. If I need suddenly need service beyond our agreement, which his not through ANY type of abuse on MY part- it's because it's an emergency, CHARGE ME, instead of PUNISHING me, you imbeciles. I told the already fidgety sales clerk I'd cancel and expect a refund, and she turned red and told me "they will have to review to see if you can do that". Whatever. I'm DONE for life. read more

The new building is gorgeous! If you ever saw the concrete monstrosity that was here before you know the new building is like the grotto in comparison. What brought me here? Vacation planning? I wish. I came to renew my Connecticut driver's license. While there were several people there for the same service, I was in and out in 15 minutes with the new verified license. Little did I know that by renewing my license there I earned a discount on a year of AAA membership, down to $55! I wasn't prepared to get the membership that day BUT they said I had 30 days to take advantage of the discount. I see cheap Amtrak tickets in my future with that membership. This is not a review of services at a AAA business location. It is a review of the Membership Renewal Notice sent annually. I hope someone at the top reads this. The font size is barely legible for Dues. and then the additional $1 explanation is microscopic. However, the total "New Dues" consisting of annual dues and AAA Foundation, is in bold and larger font size. Payment Options are also in microscopic font size. Consumer Groups should take notice. This format can be designed so customer does not have to find their magnifying glass unless it is made to "encourage" the customer to pay the extra buck because the total dollars is easier to read. I have always had wonderful experiences with AAA in the past but recently have had bad experiences with this particular branch. I recently booked a resort through AAA Hamden for a vacation this summer and was trying to reach my travel agent to modify the reservation and to book my flights for the trip. After trying to call her for a few days and having the phone just ring and ring without ever going to voicemail, I finally tracked down her email address and sent her an email. I received an automated message explaining that she was no longer with AAA and asking that I contact either of the other 2 travel agents at that branch. I then called both of the travel agents and left voicemails (I figured whoever got back to me first could help me out). It took 2 days for one of the travel agents (Maria) to return my call and I explained the situation to her. She said she would pull up my booking info and get back to me to modify the reservation and book my flights. The other travel agent (Lorie) never even called me back. I called Maria 2 days later to follow up and got her voicemail so I left a message asking her to call me back. That was 1 week ago. I have tried calling each of these travel agents directly several times and can not get an actual human being on the phone or get one of them to call me back. I even called the general number for the AAA Hamden Branch and asked to speak to someone in the travel department and left a voicemail, but still no one has called me back. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with this lack of customer service and the inconsiderate practices of the travel agents remaining at this particular branch. The travel agent from this branch I have used in the past always got right back to me and addressed all my questions and concerns in a timely manner. I guess this was the exception rather than the rule for this particular branch. I ended up booking a new reservation for the resort on my own and booking the flights myself since they could not seem to be bothered to assist me. I am hoping at some point in the next few months I will be able to get in touch with a travel agent at AAA or I guess I will have to stop by in-person during business hours to cancel my previous reservation. Disappointed in the customer service. We are members who tried to use notary services. The agent was very quick to explain their rules and boundaries to using this service. We were unaware of the second ID requirement and they wouldn't accept what we had nor would they allow us to resolve the circumstance by leaving the office, collecting proper second ID and returning to the office to proceed. I went here to renew my license, which should be an easy thing. I filled out the form with my correct address, since the DMV had it wrong on my renewal card. I specifically said I wanted it to have the same address as my boyfriend's, since his had "2FL" floor written on it, and mine did not. She said ok, and filled out the information. When it didn't have the correct address, I told her that it was missing the 2FL. She said, "That's ok, it probably won't fit anyways" and wouldn't change it. Now my brand new license is incorrect and has a sticker on it. Somehow it fit on my boyfriend's license, but it didn't fit on mine. I will never go here again to renew my license. read more

My wife and I have been thinking about taking a European river cruise for some time now. One day we finally took are ride to the AAA Hamden, CT office to see if they could provide us with some information. I have used the Hamden office several times to get my driver's license renewed. It is while standing in line, for a very short amount of time because AAA operates more efficiently than the Motor Vehicle Department, that I saw a sign for travel services. We went in and and met Ms. Lorie Pisani-Soltan one of the travel consultants. She gave us a warm greeting and had us take a seat. We told her about wanting to take a European river cruise. She quickly handed us a flyer about a AAA members cruise for July 2016. She went over this cruise with us along with several other cruises that would be available to us. All of the cruises could be booked through AAA. She was very knowledgeable and pointed out to us the differences in cruises and cruise lines. This is something we very much appreciated. She pointed out that the AAA cruise was a very good price but said other also had good deals from time to time. She provided us with several booklets and other information on river cruises. She said that we could stop in anytime and she would be happy to answer our questions. My wife and I took several days reviewing the material provided us by Ms. Pisani-Soltan. We had some questions and I sent Lorie an email asking her for more information. She got back to us quickly with answers. My wife and I decided that the AAA European Cruise was truly the best value. We took another ride to the Hamden AAA office to see Ms. Pisani-Soltan. We walked in and did not see her. Thinking that she may be on a break we took a seat to wait for her. After perhaps five minutes of waiting a gentleman came us to us and asked if we needed some assistance. We told him were here to see Ms. Pisani-Soltan. He informed us that she was off but took us over to see Ms. Maria Torres a coworker of Ms. Pisani-Soltan. We told Ms. Torres what had transpired with Ms. Pisani-Soltan and that we had some additional question. Ms. Torres made phone calls and got our questions answered made numerous notes. Ms. Torres said she was going to pass the information on to Ms. Pisani-Soltan and she was sure she would be contacting us upon her return. True to Ms. Torres word Ms. Pisani-Soltan phoned us. She was not really on a day off but on a tour of the Queen Elizabeth making sure if was up to AAA standards. Something I found very encouraging. Actually going and doing an onsite visit allows a travel professional to obtain firsthand information that can be passed on to futures travelers. My wife and I had several more questions about flights, accommodations and tours. Most of our questions were answered. We were told that a couple of our concerns could not be addressed for several weeks until airlines and others set prices and schedules. Ms. Pisani-Soltan assured us that as soon as the information was available she would be in touch with us. So far our experience has been a most enjoyable one and we look forward to a successful trip next year thanks to Ms. Pisani-Soltan and the folks at AAA Hamden, CT. Frank & Lorraine L. read more

Got locked out of a car a couple miles away and within 5 MINUTES of calling who else but James rolled up in a patriotic 18-wheeler with a tool kit and an airbag. I've stopped into the Hamden office a few times for movie tickets and have always received prompt, pleasant service. I've been a AAA member for most of my driving years (50), during which time I've lived in Los Angeles, RI and CT. I've always felt the membership fee was a deal, compared to the cost of even one tow or flat tire response, both of which I've used a number of times over the years - day and late night. I have always received prompt, friendly service from everyone I came in contact with and have to give special praise to the tow truck drivers who have been very courteous ( RI & CT). . I love the movie ticket discount and couldn't believe I was not paying closer attention to the store discounts while my children were growing up. Shopping with my daughter for a job wardrobe at Wrentham Outlets in MA, we ran into a great clerk who alerted us to the discounts available and we save over $100.00 that day. Over the years I've used the AAA services in Rhode Island for auto insurance & registration, auto loan, passport photos, travel maps & brochures (even after GPS to keep in the car), windshield replacement, and driving lessons for two teens. They even took them for the driving test. I now live in CT and carry the GOLD card because I travel extensively because the tows cover 100 miles, which can get me to my nearest destination or favorite workshop. One tow covers a couple of years membership fee. I tell everyone they should not be without this card. Note: it's good even if you are the passenger. read more

I was totally satisfied with the roadside service. Anthony L was very helpful and courteous to me. He checked my battery, starter,and alternator and assured me that it was a fuel problem caused by condensation. He also made sure I got to the station all right and even explained to the mechanic what he thought the problem might be.I would give triple A five stars for their service and would recommend it to anybody. There were many agents that were free but neglected to even acknowledge that I was there waiting for someone. I had 2 people ask if I was waiting for a travel agent, I said yes, they went to tell someone and then walked away. Was in this office the other day for books and maps. A MOB scene! Lines for DMV were crazy and as a member you are treated no different than a nonmember! The woman that helped me Latonia was rude. Acted like I was a bother to her as she socialized first with another co-worker complaining about the office and company. No one wants to hear how miserable you are working there. To top it off, the other coworker continued to complain in the background as I was "helped". I asked another employee as I left who was the other co-worker and they responded "Oh yeah, she can be like that " I believe her name was Kim or Karen. Wow! This place has really gone down hill! Given directions to wrong hotel by agent even after correcting her mistake in that office in person.very aggravating and anxiety producing since we didn't realize her mistake until the day of our trip. We received the trip package in the mail and unfortunately didn't check it until day we were leaving. A call to the offices in Westport got us the right info.but very aggravated... especially since I had corrected this agent on the day that I visited to get the directions. I guess you have to double check everything they do..
