Bad experience. I had to pay $860 over my deductible because I did not use the Statefarm…read more"preferred" contract shop. Statefarm would not cover the entire claim even though it was $1,000 less than their preferred shop. I did not use either preferred shop because previous time I used them for a claim where my hood was wrinkled by the bumper of a lifted Jeep. That shop added an unnecessary repair beyond the estimate for straightening the frame. The accident was less than 5 mph and the bumper was not damaged. After the accident and before the repair, I drove that car for a month and had the tires changed and did not even require an alignment. Statefarm paid for that but their chosen shop should not have performed the unnecessary work. We policy holders pay for that through our premiums in the end. I didn't want to use the other shop they suggested because that shop would not even look under my car to do the estimate. Just a 30 second walk around. So I took my car to the place I had great experience. That morning a Statefarm rep called me and tried to dissuade me from using my own shop which we are legally allowed to do. They even tell you on the claim you can, but they down't want you to. Then at the end of the repair, they would not pay my local shop in East Haddam even the amount that their own shop bid. I spent a lot of time on the phone with people who kept repeating that this would not happen if this was their shop. I am very dissapointed. The person from Statefarm just put me on hold for 6 minutes while she found on page 26, line C - No kidding - the line that says that they do not have to honor my deductible if I use my own shop.

First let me say, that there are other State Farm agents in Norwalk so there is no reason why…read moreanyone should subject themselves to the unprofessionalism that is exhibited by this agent and those in his office. A few days ago my car overheated and my vehicle stalled while driving. I contacted road side assistance which was unable to locate a tow truck. After an hour I called back and they gave me the run around and told me that they don't usually know when the tow truck company declines or accepts the tow, they just move on to the next call. I then received a text message 30 mins later saying that my tow would be there in a whole hour. I cancelled and sought help elsewhere. I asked for refund! I called State Farm to complain about this matter and asked to be called back by Marty Oneill or assistant. After two days I received no call back so I called and spoke to Marty and told him I wanted to change agents and his attitude was very cavalier so I asked, "is there a reason why I didn't receive a call back?" and his response was, "What do you want me to say to you? I'll send you the 1-800 number so you can locate another agent." After 4 years, it was time for a new agent. Stay away! There's no need to spend money for this level of unprofessionalism. I know at least two people who have had the same complaint about Marty and his office. Goodluck
