Then we got a notice from DMV that our…read moreteen son's car was not covered for months even though it was clearly on the policy paperwork from State Farm. They told us it was their mistake BUT we owed $700 in back payments because they also forgot to charge us. That had to be paid over the phone immediately to get our son's car legal to drive. I can't imagine what would've happened if he was in an accident during this time. The State Farm rep said it "probably would've be fine". Yeah, right. We still haven't seen a bill reflecting this charge in writing and today were told we owe an additional $300 because a beacon wasn't set up on the car. Again, there's nothing in writing reflecting these charges even though we have called and asked. I also asked to speak with Tage and was ghosted- apparently he's "been in meetings for the past two days". I'll be filing complaints with corporate and the state and looking elsewhere for my insurance.

I rarely give 5-star review but I feel Coastal Insurance and their team deserve this recognition…read more Recently I purchased a house and my mortgage broker pushed me to use their insurance company for obvious reason. While the pricing is great, I wanted to compare both the rate and the coverage. I emailed 5 different insurance companies and 4 of them immediately said "we'll get you the same policy for the same money" but only ONE came back to me and said you are not being covered properly and there's conflicting info in the underwriting language. That firm was none other than Coastal Insurance (see attached email). While their policy came back to be $200 more, but their policy also offers substantially more coverage. I would've rather pay the extra money than to leave myself exposed to a potential loss and claim denial b/c I didn't read the fine print. In a society where speed and cheap trumps service and common sense, it's refreshing to see a company that is thorough and didn't "sell me on price and price alone." Just an FYI, they also have an affiliate that provide tax grievance service and have saved me thousands of dollars with my commercial and residential properties.
