I waited over 5 hours for a battery replacement, only for it to get too late and not be able to get my battery replaced at all. When I tried to call in the morning, I was hung up on over 4 times, transfered to the wrong departments an innumerable amount of times, and eventually gave up. If you just need a jump start, it's fine. If you want anything else, don't bother. read more

Friendly and super helpful employees at this AAA outpost. Came for a passport photo and was pleasantly surprised to discover that as a AAA member they were included in my membership. The lady who took my photo looked like Rihanna which put me at ease so my passport photo did not look like a DMV photo. Highly recommend! read more

AAA is a lifesaver. Not just for the roadside service, but for the discounts they can wrangle up. I just bought a car and the best financing the dealer could offer was 7.9% - AAA got me a rate of 4.74% - that's lower than my student loans! They also negotiate really good car insurance rates. LOVE IT. read more

They took an hour and a half after paying for a brand new motorcycle insurance and having a gold card for my car for five years on file it took an hour and a half to two hours and still have not shown up. People messing a bunch of weirdos hackers hung up the phone so I couldn't get through to them and usually I would say AAA is great but I don't think that they're progressing whatsoever it's been two hours still no phone call read more

Not based on visiting this location, but on roadside service. On one snowy eve, I just wanted to be home. Snow was piling up. It was f**** cold. My car wouldn't start. Ho hum. The service center person who I spoke to was very professional and took all emotion out. She was prompt and provided the answers I needed. Can I get service without my physical card in place? How long will it take them? A service person came within 30 minutes. Well, the car didn't start with a jump, so that sucked, but he called the tow truck. Tow truck showed up 15 minutes early. Excellent, despite the fact that I was already 2 hours behind my original schedule (and despite the fact that the car did eventually start with a stronger jump...). When he arrived, it was one of those compact trucks, which are super manueverable around side streets that you wanna take when traffic's tough and you want to get to an auto shop that's smack in the middle of rush hour traffic. Really, all these setbacks, but I managed to have an overall pleasant experience. I know these tow truck cos and service trucks aren't necessarily hired by AAA, but they're contracted with them to uphold AAA standards. I'm convinced. Also note that if you have basic service, tow trucks will tow you up to 4 miles. Every mile after that is only $4 per mile; so when you're a city dweller stuck in the city, that's really not too shabby...and if you're lucky enough to have a driver who will tow you 5 miles when the closest auto shop is just 3 mi away. :D read more

I have been an AAA member for close to 30 years. I needed a tow the other day. The link they texted worked well enough, but there was not follow up to provide any info on when the tow should be expected to arrive. I had to call again to speak to a person. She was nice enough and immediately provided a time frame. Why did this not come as a text? Would have saved time and worry. Plus their call center. When the tow arrived, despite the AAA webpage asking if I needed a ride with my car, the driver did not have room to take me, leaving me stranded. Once again, I must ask - why does AAA not have this detail worked out? Their tech seems good enough - once the tow started coming I could watch it on an online map - how can they drop the ball on these other details? Clearly this is a choice, and I think, I poor one. I was very disappointed in their service. Makes me question the actual value of an AAA membership. read more

Went to renew my license and I was in and out in 5 minutes since no one else was waiting. Can't give this place 5 stars since the customer service could be better. She got up right away to help me which was nice. However, when I made a stupid mistake while trying to rush though the paperwork, she started talking down to me and treating me like I was blind. Umm, if I have my license lady I am clearly not blind. Not sure if I will come back next time I have to renew. read more

Prompt, convenient, priced right. Only negative I can say is it took a minute or two for someone to acknowledge me when I walked in even though there were plenty of people staring at me. From their subsequent conversations, it seems they didn't think they had to greet me since they were busy working at their computers on something else. (Yes, this was said aloud between coworkers.) Overall, I got what I needed but the service could have been better. read more

I just applied for a real ID at this Boston AAA and it was such a pleasant experience. I called with a question before travelling to their location, had to leave a VM, and Pierre called me back within 10 minutes. When I got there, the staff was so nice and helpful and made the process a breeze. I plan to do as much RMV business through AAA as I can from now on. Thank you!! read more

They have so -so service for the travel section. They weren't helpful when I had to plan a trip to Italy. But the location is closed to my old job, so it's very easy to come over and get those free maps and travel guide book when I'm planning road trips. I think you can also get free passport photo done there. I never had to use AAA for any car services....so I'm not sure how good are they. --------- Beside the actual office, AAA have tons of discount stuff online: One big thing I love being an AAA member is the discount with other stores(i.e. 10% w/ Target and Circuit City and B&N, etc). Make sure you check http://www.aaa.com and type in your local zip to get all the discount (stores, cell phone, amusement park tix, etc) For travel discount, I think on most of the hotel and rail website - you can select AAA for discount/promotional rate, it's fairly easy to get the AAA rate. It definitely worth the $24/year to get AAA read more

I've been a AAA client for several years. This review is for the 125 High Street, Boston visit recently. I went in to renew my MA Registration. This is a simple process and its convenient to have this offered through AAA. Upon entrance, a woman greeted me and took my AAA card, license and Registry documents, then put them aside for someone else to handle. This seemed redundant to me ... is she just a greater? The process went smoothly even though the person doing my Registration was being trained. All were pleasant and my documents were returned to me in an envelope. Once I returned to my office and opened the envelope, I found that my AAA card had not been returned. This was one of the SUB 0 degree days. I called and they confirmed that they did have it and offered to mail it back to me. That's not what I really wanted to hear, so I put my cold weather gear back on and walked back several blocks to the AAA office. I would have given 4 stars, but with so few customers in at that time, I would have expected this transaction to be more thorough and at least have one of the many employees bring my AAA card to my office lobby. Especially since there are so many actual AAA employees there on-site and you are all about great customer service ... right?! read more

I do not recommend getting insurance with Mapfre through AAA. It's been over two months now and I haven't received my refund for when I cancelled my car insurance back in the beginning of December. I've called numerous times a week for a month and a half and get different answers every time as to when I'm getting my money and where my money is. They also were off on the calculation for how much money I should get back (still haven't gotten it) and were telling me I would be getting less than I should. Please save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else! read more

Great experience in here! I needed a new passport photo. I was immediately greeted upon waking in the door and received fast and friendly service too. I also learned that they really offer a wide range of services at AAA from insurance, travel agent stuff and of course the maps and travel tips. If you need anything like that and are in the downtown Boston area, stop in here!! read more

I renewed my drivers license at the location on High St in Boston and it could not have been smoother. The staff was helpful and pleasant and what I anticipated might be a long process, (due to the new regulations requiring multiple forms of documentation) was a breeze. Just had a very good experience with AAA Roadside/Battery Service. I have a car I bought used in September. With the bitter cold this past weekend, the battery was totally dead. I was planning on getting a jump start and heading over to the local automotive super store for a new battery (the one under the hood was 3 yrs old) and to have it installed. Price shopped on line and determined the battery I needed was approximately $99 and the install was another $15. Checked into AAA Roadside Battery Service. Called them at about 7:15am on a Sunday morning and initiated the service call. I told them that it was not an emergency situation. I figured I had all morning to wait, the car was safely parked and I was waiting inside my house. They called me back in 15 minutes to say a driver was on the way. Sure enough, 30 minutes later, driver arrives. He was friendly and upbeat (a plus as it was snowing steadily). We pop the hood, test the current battery and it's DOA. He then does a quick check of the charging system/alternator and determines that's all functioning normally. I get ready for the crazy price of the replacement battery he's carrying ON THE TRUCK. He quotes me $500 as a joke, then tells me the battery from him is $125 installed with tax included. The specs are comparable to the super store's product. Sign me up. The driver swapped the batteries and even made extra effort to keep a flow of electrical current to the car to preserve the security codes for the navigation and radio (the original battery was so discharged due to the cold that the codes were lost anyway) - but the effort was appreciated and had I not known I had the codes, could make a car owner anxious that they can't get systems up and running once they get back on the road. Once it was in, he had me start up the car, fire up the headlights & fan and then took a voltage reading off the battery. Gave everything battery-wise a shot of corrosion inhibitor, took the old battery away, reinstalled the plastic engine cowling and wrote it up with my credit card as payment. Overall, the whole process took about 30 minutes, in my driveway and the battery comes with a three year roadside back-up warranty. A small tip to the driver so the next hot coffee is "on me" and we were on our way. Nice work AAA, especially on a Sunday morning. read more

I have been a AAA member for years and it has always been a positive experience with top notch, knowledgeable and friendly roadside assistance experts every time I've needed assistance. My most recent experience (car needed a tow to a repair shop) was very early in the morning during a snow storm, but my roadside help still arrived within less than an hour. His name was Kurt, and he had my car up on the truck within minutes. I caught a ride with him to the repair shop, and enjoyed his positive and friendly attitude the entire way. He was a life saver and incredibly helpful. Thanks AAA for sending world class help when it's needed most! read more

Consumer Cellular phone support is absolutely terrible. You have to have two phones for them to help you. Service is much better behind the counter at any Target store or you can spend an hour and a half at the Apple store like I did last week. Voicemail is particularly bad. read more

Recently attempted to use my AAA road service and was met with a rude operator with a bad attitude. On way to take my sick 4 month old to doctor and got a flat tire, called AAA who was totally rude and no help at all. I visited the AAA branch to apply for an International Driver's Permit. The process was very smooth, and the person who attended to me was great to work with. I am glad that this office is within walking distance to the South Station subway stop. Tip: The AAA office is actually on the side of the building. As you enter 125 High Street, walk down the hall and turn left at the end. Walk until you reach the exit of the building, and you will see the office on the left. read more

Words I never thought I'd say about anything: The RMV was better. Last week, I filled everything out for license renewal online, so today I thought I'd just sail through with my neatly ordered paperwork. I arrive to find just a few people in line, so I was optimistic. But each customer is a ten minute affair (a bunch of people getting maps? I had no idea anyone even still printed paper maps!), so it's half an hour by the time I get to the front. I take out all my paperwork, show the guy, uh huh, uh huh, he checks it all over, and then: like a bad SNL skit about incompetent bureaucracy, this line was only to get on the list for another line. The first guy only LOOKS at the paperwork. He doesn't DO anything with it. So I sat down again. Two people and one eternity later, they called me up. Once the process started it was under five minutes, but the long wait to get there definitely negated any benefit. (I was actually going to bail and just go to the RMV, but I stopped by to check my position in line on the way out and they told me I was up.) Maybe you'd have better luck and hit a time when there's no line? But with no option to make appointments and no Live Wait clock like you can view for the RMV, this is a gamble not worth taking. read more

This place is a great alternative to going to the RMV to renew your license. I went on a weekday, early in the morning and was behind three other people. The staff was friendly, but the waiting process was not intuitive. On first impression there is no line, but you need to first check in with one of the agents by the entrance who then directs you to a waiting area across the room. If people in line aren't seated, you don't really know who's in front of you. It's a great convenience, but be careful of the parking restrictions on the street right outside. Several cars parked in front of me were ticketed for being there earlier than the allowed timeframe. read more

They're very friendly, for sure. But their tourbooks and maps have gone to the dogs. They have virtually NOTHING about Europe, one general book for the whole continent. I rarely use tourbooks any more, but I expected at least SOME of the depth they used to have. For a travel agency, it was pretty, pretty slim. Now I just keep AAA for the towing insurance, really. read more

Went there for travel assistance with a cruise and had to do everything myself. There is only one travel agent who is friendly but rarely available. She did not provide me or and my group with options for cruise cabins (sold us a $1,600 cabin when an $800 was available), kept 1/2 of my refund for a month before mailing it to me, provided with erroneous information regarding my cruise perks (told me I only had a $25 credit when in reality it was $50 for excursions per port) and did not mail me the cruise registration. I ended up registering myself, and others in the group. Several times when she was busy my calls where automatically forwarded to headquarters where I was told I needed to speak to the Boston office anyways. I will not return. read more

The agents who answer the phone -- the only ones you are allowed to speak to -- don't know insurance well AT ALL. I've been given so much misinformation over the years, it's incredible. Why didn't I leave? Because their quotes were lower. But I will tell you this, given all the MISTAKES they have made, it's likely customers are under or over insured. The training they provide their agents/customer service reps is laughable. Forget about talking to anyone who understands a Condo master policy -- PFA -- in relationship to your own coverage. Oh, and I was told, before I flew to Ohio to possibly purchase a nice used RV, that they could cover it and was given a quote. After the purchase, I immediately called AAA to only find out the agent who told me that was DEAD WRONG. I had to scramble to find a company and ended up paying a lot more than I was quoted by the DEAD WRONG AAA agent. How can they give you a quote for a policy they don't every write?!? AAA Northeast insurance offers decent prices AND THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE, LEAST KNOWLEDGEABLE AGENTS/REPS IN THE INDUSTRY. Buyer beware! You might spend too much over years -- as I have for coverage I didn't need because of my building's PFA -- or you might end up underinsured because they don't know what they are talking about. If I had a dollar for every minute I was put on hold by an agent who didn't know the answer to my questions so they could ask a supervisor (who often didn't know either and whom you are not allowed to be connected to), I would be a millionaire! NOT WORTH THE TIME AND FRUSTRATION. AAA INSURANCE NORTHEAST DOESN'T SERVE THEIR CUSTOMERS WELL AT ALL! TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN YOUR AGENTS, AAA NORTHEAST! read more
