This place... boy oh boy! Just left here after having a reservation for 2 weeks via Priceline with NO CAR. I was told by Priceline that my car would not be ready until noon. I got there at 12:25 (fun Boston traffic) and turns out they were "closed." There were multiple people sitting in the lobby waiting for cars and the assistant manager, Desiree, was sitting at the computer, ready to NOT work. I was told by Desiree that we would've had to be there, checked-in, by 12 in order to be guaranteed a car. She stated they didn't have a car for me because inventory was "low." She started by trying to help me find another car to rent, but quickly changed her tune to "leave the premise or I will call security." She said I was yelling at her, which was confirmed by other patrons that I never once raised my voice. I've worked in customer service for over 12 yrs, and I don't understand why she took this job or was given a higher title, if she generally didn't want to help people??? The staff in the parking lot were very nice and informed us, yes they do have (lots) cars available, they were just closed and needed to get out of there. Not only did she ruin our trip to New York City, she smiled at the fact we were kicked out. I ended up getting at the Enterprise counter at Logan, just to see what would happen, where I was informed she could've helped transfer my reservation, just didn't want to!!!! Save your time and rent through one of the other dozen establishments in Boston. I chose to rent through Avis, even after checking the counter at Logan, just because I couldn't fathom giving my money to Enterprise. I'm unimpressed with the Brookline branch of Enterprise Rent a Car. The location is busy, I assume highly profitable for Enterprise, with lots of business coming from Boston University and Boston College students (this Enterprise branch is on the Boston University campus). My car reservation was made as an "auto insurance coverage" reservation. I anticipated that this Enterprise location would have reached out to my auto insurance company, for prior approval, in advance of my arrival, but, they did not. I had to wait 30 minutes for a car, at my reservation arrival time, as this branch had no clean cars, and I was amongst 6 or 7 customers waiting for a car. Enterprise claim, "we're short staffed." Well, who isn't short staffed? In other words, this branch is short on management, inventory management, and customer service. read more

It was a very busy time and he made sure that all the customers had been spoken to, even though there was a wait (due to volume of reservations). I rented a small SUV on Sunday July 30 and discovered several issues. I emailed the manager yesterday describing the problems and requested a replacement. Never heard back from anyone in Enterprise. My conclusion is that 1. They don't really care about addressing customer problems 2. All they have to offer are cars with quality and performance issues so they really can't offer any good replacemen. read more

We had a great experience with this location after being turned away from the Boston Revere Hotel location. They were helpful with our situation and were able to match our reservation from the other location. Eric, the employee who assisted us, was kind and explained the different add on packages and discounts we received through my husband's employer. They didn't have a standard-sized car available so they gave us a free upgrade. We got into a car in less than 10 minutes! Overall, a very excellent experience. I had to get my car repaired at a local body shop, Enterprise worked with GEICO to get me into a rental car. I was met with the rental car at the body shop, and in less than 10 mins I left with the rental. No complaints there.. only issue I had was the lack of communication between staff. I was given a 2023 Nissan rogue, 2 days after getting the car, the oil light came on. When I called the office to tell them they said "no the car is due for the oil change in this amount of miles." I said it's over 500 miles over that right now. The representative said I needed to go to FIRESTONE to get the oil changed or to come back to get a different car. It was such an inconvenience for both options, I wish they actually inspected their vehicles and kept up with services prior to renting them out. read more

It is rare that I need a car when I am home, but I needed one earlier this week for all of 4.5 hours, and it made no sense to join ZipCar and Uber would have been tough since I was on a really tight schedule and needed to be able to zip around. I made the reservation around 5am, picked it up a few hours later, and it turned out that they were really short on cars since it had been a busy weekend. I said I was fine with pretty much anything that moved (although I was relieved I wasn't given the minivan!!), and off I went in a car that was clean and got me where I needed to go. I know that rates on weekdays are still high due to foliage, business travelers, etc so I can't complain (and it would have been $10 higher downtown), and the convenience was worth it. The girl who did my rental in and out was really nice; I wish I knew her name, but she graduated from UNH earlier this year and is from Maryland. For anyone looking for points/miles with their rental: no partnership with a hotel or airline, but they will take your Plenti number (that weird card that works at Macy's, RiteAid, Exxon, etc). read more

Stay away. I had a reservation ahead of time. Got there, they took all my info and said the car would be right up, "just getting it from the garage." After patiently waiting for several minutes I asked how long it would be and they told me another 15 minutes. Finally, after 45 minutes of waiting they confessed there was no car available and tried to usher me into a mini-van to another rental agency in Watertown. I would rate higher if it was just a reservation mistake but the one star is well deserved given how unprofessional they were. read more

I'm always skeptical of car rental companies but Enterprise has been very accomodating. You pay a bit of a premium for the cars but, in my opinion, they're well worth it to avoid the hastle. I dinged them one star since they weren't flexible on pricing when it came to continuing our loaner by a couple days. The rate through our insurance company was about 1/5th the price of the non-insurance rate, so when our time ended, we had to change plans to get the car back ASAP. read more

Walk in having already had a reservation. There was a line when I walked in so naturally just waited. Then multiple people come up to me saying yours is the only car here and everyone else's has to be driven from other locations but we are checking them in first. When I finally get the vehicle it's a 30 second interaction since I checked in on everything online. This place needs to learn how to be efficient and then they wouldn't have such a wait. The staff was very rude the whole process and when checking the vehicle back in the survey they do is done in person and by the direct manager I felt was so rude. It needs to be anonymous and online. There are a number of other car rentals you can go to and certainly other enterprise locations. Even though this is the closest to my house I will never visit again. read more

I was sent to this location after a car accident. I was there for 45 minutes with no help, and when they did, none of my credit cards would take for the deposit. After an hour or so, there was nothing they could do. I went outside to wait for thier driver to take me to work. I muted, I can't believe this s***, which I guess upset the man at the desk, and he not only said they wouldn't give me a ride, I would not be able to go to this location. Then, a second employee came out and laughed at me on the street and called me a dumba**!. The public disrespect and ridicule I experienced was uncalled for and inappropriate for anyone in customer service. I will be reporting this to the better business Bureau and the mayors office. What is there to say about a car rental place? I had to get my car repaired due to an accident and Enterprise came right to the shop to pick me up. When I got to their location they were really friendly and let me pick out a car that matched my car rental insurance policy. The car had 3/4 tank but they only marked down 1/2 (I ended up returning it at 3/4 but that was my own fault). The return was quick and easy. read more

I've rented cars at Enterprise quite often but not at this location. This particular location should be avoided. First, it's more expensive than renting it from the airport (Logan isn't that far away, under 10 miles). We asked for pick up and they didn't offer that service (other Enterprise locations do) though they said they'd reimburse us for using Uber. Once they gave us the key and opened the door, it didn't seem like the car had been cleaned after the previous rental. The employee removed a coffee cup from inside with a sheepish look. Things were already not off to a good start but the experience only got worse. We were staying in Brookline where you're not allowed to park your car on the street between 2 AM - 6 AM without a permit. We decided to turn the car in after hours rather than worry about parking it on the street overnight. Well, it seems like many other people had the same thought because the Enterprise parking lot was completely full and even their driveway was full. There was nowhere we could park the car to return it. I hardly think this is the first time this has happened to someone trying to return the car at this location, yet they didn't have another lot or make arrangements for overflow parking. Mr. Froyo called Enterprise customer service. The agent kept telling him to park the car in the lot. That was impossible. The agent could offer no other advice?!?! We returned the car the next morning and of course weren't offered a ride back. Also, if you use a toll road, they tack on an additional processing fee of $10 which is ridiculous. The car also made a funny noise though it didn't break down. Go to the Logan location or don't rent with any Enterprise location if you can. read more

I picked up a car from the Allston Comm. Ave branch on 11/25 as referred by the notorious Audi Brookline dealership. I was recommended a Ford Fusion by an Enterprise associate. I did NOT select the prepaid gas option. I drove the car a total of 35-40 miles with very little idle time. I put 2 gallons of gas in the car before I returned it to Audi Brookline on 11/26. I have a receipt that backs this up. I received a suspicious charge of $44 on my credit card statement effective 12/4. Hmmmm..... TripAdvisor review pending. I signed an agreement to give them a $300 deposit for my rental. When I returned the car, the manager said it was now a $500 deposit, and said he was now taking $500 off my credit card. (I hit a curb and have rental car insurance through my credit card). It's been a month now, and the car has long been fixed, but Enterprise refuses to send the paperwork listing damages or itemized bills over to my insurer. I'm in limbo. Apparently I have no rights to know what the damages were or how much it cost. read more

Perhaps it's my fault for not asking or maybe it's their fault for not telling me the nitty gritty details over the phone... Anyways, I call the night before and ask the woman who picked up the phone if there would be a car available, if she recommended that I come in early (heck, I don't know if they will be out of cars), etc. I then go to ask her about GPS (which I guess you can rent for $10-11). I then ask her the policy for dropping off the car after hours. I don't mention that I am only carrying my debit card. The following day I follow google maps instructions to get there via the T and then taking a 15-minute walk. I must've missed a turn because I swear I was walking forever...in the rain, no less. So I walk in. Tell the guy that I want to rent a car. He asks for my drivers license and a major credit card. I have one but not the other. So I ask what the policy is if I don't have a major credit card but a debit card. He says that I need car insurance if I wanted to use my debit card. I have one but not the other. So basically, I couldn't rent a car. However, he tries to help out by suggesting two rental car places nearby. One he describes as being "a little bit of a walk." Thanks buddy...it's raining cats and dogs. All in all, I forget my trip altogether. I gave up. Maybe too quickly. And then I catch a cab outside to go back home. The end. Moral of the story: You can rent with a drivers license and a credit card or you can rent with a debit card and proof of car insurance. read more

I've only had one experience here, but it was harried and personally frustrating enough that I thought it ok to review. Normally a stanch zipcar enthusiast, I took the suggestion of a friend to rent from Enterprise since they had better rates. Sure enough, I called and compared it to a full day rental through zipcar - much cheaper. I made my mind up, called them and scheduled an appointment. They said there would be a couple hundred dollar "hold" charge, which wasn't a big deal. I was psyched. But they didn't clarify that it had to be a major credit card. I only have a bank cc which didnt have the full balance on it, and the staff was very patient while I was on the phone w/ the bank trying to see what we could do. I had ample funds in my debit to use for the hold, however they really needed a major cc. Throughout MULTIPLE calls to my bank (Bof A you're killin' me, smalls) they never once were rude, and understood my frustrations. Specifically one of the managers Samantha, because at some points she even needed to speak with them. In the end, they accomodated me by putting some of my hold onto my debit card so I'd be able to rent my car and get on with my busy day. I may have lost about 45 minutes, but I was very grateful for their awesome customer service. If I was them, and had to deal with me in that situation, I wouldn't have been so calm. All in all it was a great service, the car was in great shape, but the unexpected insurance package pretty much made the total cost the same as zipcar. However, I was immediately glad upon 15 minutes after leaving the lot, when some jerkface cut me off and almost hit me. I'm still a zipcar enthusiast and will keep my rentals loyal, but I'd definitely reccommend them for others. read more

Is it just me, or do you always think "Star Trek" when you hear/see Enterprise? I know I do. And c'mon, flying a spaceship would be WAY COOLER than a 2011-what-the-flip-ever car. Anyhow... This Enterprise outshines many of the others in MANY other states that I have worked with. From Charlotte to Atlanta, St. Louis to Rochester, Brookline- you win. Its adorable watching the mid-to-late-twenty-somethings in bright ties and white shirts parade "professionally" about getting rentals squared away on a Friday evening at closing time. But they were very kind, in person and on the phone. Seeing they lacked an Economy or Compact car, I got to cruise about in a Nissan Maxima for two days- only 6000 miles on the vehicle, incredibly clean on the inside (not so much on the outside-- hence the one star subtraction). Now for Enterprise to remove their corporate "21-24 year olds get charged $26/day" and I'll be frequenting here much more often! read more

Complete fail. My husband wanted to rent a car so we could go on holiday for the weekend. He made a reservation online ahead of time. So, he goes to pick up the car from the 1686 Comm Ave location. The employee there realizes that for whatever reason, the requested car was not at their branch and that we had to go to the 996 Comm Ave location. Okay, kind of a pain since we have to take the T there, but not a big deal. This is when things start to go wrong since apparently Enterprise (or at least this location) doesn't accept debit cards for their deposit- and you guessed it, all my husband had were two debit cards, the sort issued under a VISA logo. I have a credit card, but unfortunately I lost my licence the week before and was waiting for a replacement from the RMV, and no car rental agency allows you to rent a car for someone else. What horrible luck. It's a shame that they don't take debit cards since we have more than enough money in our checking account to cover the rental fee plus any kind of rental hold they would issue. It goes without saying that we were not very pleased since we had to cancel our hotel reservation and our weekend plans. We'll be going elsewhere for our car rental needs in the future. read more

$193/day Crooks: we booked a 1 day rental, the day before for $85/day. Wow we were stupid, but to lazy to go in somewhere else for $35/day. We picked it up at 1:00 pm Saturday ( which was just before they closed. So we told them what was rate if we brought back after 1:00pm next day. not to worry because we are closed same time on Sunday the same time. You can bring back at 6:00pm. Charge was $193.00 for ONE Day!! FYI: zip car is down the street, will be replacing rental car companies like Uber is replacing taxis read more

My gf and I rented a car to travel to NY for Christmas. We planned to pick up the car on Friday might but schedules changed that allowed us to leave earlier. Called Enterprise and they were so nice to move up our reservation. When we arrived, we were informed that ALL of their cars were rented out for the Holiday but not to worry because they were working on it. We waited for ~10 minutes and Jimmy (great guy) upgraded our car, gave us more flexibility for the return, and even added some discounts for the "trouble" (which there was none of). Jimmy was awesome to work with and made our Holiday that much better. Thanks, guys!!! read more

When I was a student in Boston I had to rent cars regularly, and this enterprise location quickly became my default. They were always extra friendly and accommodating. One time I tried modifying a reservation by phone with Enterprise's central office and got nowhere. Then I visited this location and they literally fixed my problem in 10 seconds. Beware when you return your car. They will have you park on the sidewalk if the lot is full. If you get a ticket they will charge you an additional fee (on top of the ticket) for processing the ticket. And when you dispute, the oblivious staff will tell you he/she doesnt have access to any of this and will give you a number to call, who will then tell you to go to court to appeal; typical finger-pointing game that will get you pissed off so much that you will end up just paying the ticket yourself. My company and I have had a pleasant been experience with enterprise for some time and for old sake I will give them one extra star. But I will resort to other non-Enterprise options from now for sure. read more

The car was in great shape and pick up and drop off were very easy. I booked through a 3rd party and was confused about the check-out process when I picked up the car, including the charges and insurance. Pickup was 5:30 on a Friday and I was more eager to get on the road than understand what I was doing, so I accidentally booked the same insurance twice - once through priceline and again in person through enterprise. I called after returning the car to review these charges and spoke with two great customer service folks at their location and was able to undo my mistake. *A tip to fellow customers - if you book through a 3rd party, look over your reservation closely and make sure to print and share with the enterprise representative when you arrive.* read more

Customer service skills at the Brookline, MA location are practically non-existent. Seems like the only thing they want to do is to nickel and dime you for everything. Went there with my dad to rent a car for a 3 day trip. I explain to the staff (a male assistant in his 30s-40s) that my credit card offers damage waiver protection for car rentals made on the card. He proceeds to tell us that he can't let me rent a premium sedan as it's not allowed for young drivers. Then we decide on a standard SUV which is allowed for young drivers. When my dad asks him about damage waiver, he adds it to the car as well and takes it out under my dad's name and credit card and adds me as an additional driver. All without considering what I'd told him initially. I'd specifically told the staff that my card allows for damage protection and this just doesn't seem ethical! Besides, his tone and the manner with which he handled our transaction seemed impatient and condescending. This was our first time renting with Enterprise and I did not have a great experience with the customer service. However, I will say that the car was in a good condition and had clean interiors (A gray Nissan Rogue) and gave us no issues during the trip. The after hours drop off facility was also convenient. read more

Great customer service and quick pickup process. I had to drop off after hours on Sunday and was worried they would charge me for another full day (until the store opened on Monday morning), but they didn't, which is much appreciated. They emailed my receipt to me and also gave me a call to review the charges,which were the same as the charges listed when I booked the rental online. My only complaint has less to do with the store than the fellow renters. People doing after-hours dropofff are bad about pulling all the way around and to the back, so cars are frequently left on the sidewalk area. They also don't leave enough space for later drop-offs to pull around. However, this location is extremely convenient and well-staffed. Will definitely use again. read more
