Last week, on the way to a vacation in Maine, my car broke down on the highway late in the day on the Friday of 4th of July weekend. I desperately needed to rent a car and Avis was about to close for the weekend. My entire vacation was at risk and I was panicked. Most rental car companies would have left me stranded but not Michael Montijo and Jason Rodriguez at the Bedford location. They are wonderful guys and really showed me compassion like I was family. They stayed open well past closing time on just the promise that I was on the way in an Uber. I can't really describe the true kindness they showed me in a review. Last month I rented a car through Mike at the Bedford Avis location for a DC trip. Mike was extremely helpful and efficient, making the process of renting a car a breeze. He answered all of my questions and concerns, and was very patient and understanding throughout the process. You will show up with a reservation and they won't be here. Joseph will tell you that he doesn't have your reservation. That he is all sold out of cars. When you call corporate they will confirm that they have your reservation and you will be stranded without a vehicle. Trying to find one last minute and pay way more than you would've if you would avoid this location. read more

Thanks to Joseph at the Avis desk; because of him I was able to get home safely. I am not from MA, and I needed a car to drive back to Jacksonville, Florida. I originally had a reservation with hertz, but when they charged my card, Chase flagged it as possible fraud. Once I approved the transaction it was too late because Hertz has a dumb policy that they can only swipe a card once. My other card limit was too low to cover the amount, so of course I started to freak out. Joe heard me on the phone with my boyfriend saying I did not know how I was getting home, and he said he might be able to help. He definitely tried a few things, but soon he worked his magic and got me a car around the same price as my original booking. What really gets me is I did ask him for anything; he went out of his way for me. JOE SAVED MY LIFE. Avis has left a bad taste in my mouth before, but all is forgiven because of what he did for me and honestly I will never forget it! read more

Do not rent here. I booked a 12 passenger rental 3months in advance. I called the morning of to tell them I was running late. They tell me they have 5 confirmations and only 2 vans. It's first come first served. I ended having to find a rental elsewhere and of course for more money because it's last minute. They need a better booking system! read more

DO NOT RENT HERE. First off, it's 45 minutes from the airport even though I looked for an airport rental, this is where the rental sent me. Maybe not their fault, but don't expect an easy trip from the airport to here. But they called me the day before my flight saying they had no passenger vehicles available. I rented SEVEN months in advance, and confirmed 2 times leading up to the trip. "DJ" the customer service rep was SO unhelpful and said he would call back with a resolution and I never heard from him again. Thank GOODNESS the ACTUAL airport location was extremely helpful and I was saved. I would spend $200 more to rent from somewhere else over this mess of a business. read more

Peter .... disgusting behavior!! First time I rented from here was just fine. HOWEVER, today was dreadful. Sat wating, ready to pick up at 7:30am. No-one shows. After 3 calls to Avis and false promises that someone is coming, this guy Peter swans in 15 mins after opening time. No apology. Vague excuse that he wasn't late, he was "washing cars in the parking lot;" yeah, right. Then berated me with utter indifference, blaming me for not calling him directly !! Then he refuses to rent the car !!!!!! Knowing full well he is the only option available. Worst of all, this imbecile is one of my neighbors and knows so. Peter, see you soon ..... Awful customer service. Flight was delayed, called multiple times prior to center closing and no one answered the phone. Showed up next day and rep joe didn't even want to speak to us stating there were no cars available. No effort to even look up our reservation or help find a car at another location. I am almost afraid to boast about this because I want to keep it to myself. I needed to rent a car that got a lot of miles-per-gallon for a trip to upstate NY. My first preference was a Prius because I have driven one before and liked it. But I at least wanted something similar such as a Ford Fusion - or a similarly comfortable hybrid. I started this process six weeks before I needed the car. I called MANY area car rental companies and none of them would guarantee that I would get a hybrid -- just something in the "class," which meant the size of the car -- not the MPG. Then someone in the Woburn AVIS told me to go online and book the exact type of car and it would be guaranteed. But when I got to the online booking, it was clear that it was still not the case and it was confirmed when I called them back. Finally, I got amazing service and a guarantee that I would have a Prius waiting for me when I called Peter Daniel from the Avis Budget Group in Bedford. They are located in the Hansom Field Civil Airport in Bedford. This is a seemingly small, family-run operation, but they had a lot of cars to choose from and were super nice. I thought I was in another world at a small airport and where you're actually treated like a real person -- not just another renter in a long line of renters. Remember the days when we didn't need the term "customer service," because we treated each other like real people? Thanks Peter! I'll happily recommend your company to my business friends from out of town that need rentals. read more

This place is horrible. I don't know if this is same one man show guy that an earlier review pointed out but my guy was horrible. His name is Peter I think. The guy was very polite before I rented the car. The moment he gave me the car though his tone totally changed. There was no wiper fluid in the car (during winter snow storm). The car was absolutely dirty. He said he'll switch it the next week but he didn't. Never picks up the phone. Moreover two weeks later I see a $100 charge on my credit card. I called him after the charge and he was very rude and "couldn't care less" about it. He said that usually happens with insurance rental (not true) and I should be happy that it is only $100 and not $500. I have rented in the past through my insurance but never had any issues. Moreover he refused to fix the problem. He said that it was some fee that only Avis customer care would fix for me. I protested and demanded that I spoke with his manager. He said he's the owner and has no manager. Basically washed his hands off and hung up on me. After I called Avis I discovered that the fee was Airport fee which he had promised to waive in the first place. They punted me back to him and now I am out of $100 from my pocket because of this guy. read more

They had availability, it's free parking for your car if you need to leave it, and it's easy to access. BUT the customer service is the worst! They couldn't be bothered to speak to you. I hate feeling like I'm bothering someone by giving them my business. Especially when the hertz counter next door has such super friendly people. I was so envious of those customers. It's too bad because I've had such good experiences with other locations but next time (which is often) its hertz. read more
