After getting estimates from several different roofing/solar companies at the end of September 2025, AA Roofing was a wildcard since they were up against 3 larger companies that were one-stop-shops for both roofing and solar. Although our appointment had to be rescheduled a couple of times, when Jake came over to survey our roof, he was very approachable and professional. AA Roofing's estimate was not the lowest, but I was looking for a reasonable quote with a realistic timeline to have both the roofing and solar project done by the end of the 2025 year when the federal tax credit for solar power installation expires. AA Roofing did not disappoint! Jake was quick with the estimate and even quicker with pulling permits and the installation! As a comparison, the three larger companies could not start until 2 and 3 weeks later! We would have definitely missed the tax credit deadline! He also made sure that everything was done within the scope of the quote, and our criteria. Jake's roof tile suggestion turned out to be quite stunning and better than we expected! He suggested we use the solar company he partners with. Elione Solar was not the largest company also but had very high reviews. The speed that AA Roofing completed the roofing portion of the project was HUGE because the lead-time for the solar install is quite lengthy with the permitting, installation, inspection, coordinating with SCE to get everything hooked up into the system (grid?), and THEN FINALLY passing final city inspection. Elione also deserves high praise for their part in this project! It was close but without AA Roofing's prompt and speedy installation, it would have been a challenge if not impossible to meet the year-end energy tax credit deadline!!! After these past heavy winter storms in the Long Beach area, I'm happy to say that the roof and solar installation DID NOT LEAK! Kudos to Jake and his excellent team at AA Roofing!!! read more

Just finished up the roofing with Jake and AA Roofing today, and I gotta say, I am very impressed. Looks like this company's been around for over 30+ years, with Jake's father starting it up back in the day. Great customer service, very prompt, good quality roofing tiles and materials. Tear down, reinstallation of entire roof, and clean up was all done within 3 days. We were going back and forth with pricing, comparisons, and tons of questions for over a month, yet Jake was patient and was willing to answer everything politely and efficiently, including licensing, permits, insurance liability, legal documents, time frames, and any extra potential costs. He covered the cost of plywood replacement, sidings, primer, and even helped us throw away extra plywood/ cardboard at no extra cost. We had a leak in part of our house after the first rains came a few months ago and decided it was time for our full roof replacement. I got 3 quotes and AA roofing was not only one of the lower ones with similar materials and warranty but Jake was very thorough during the estimate. He was very responsive and able to get work completed including temporary leak treatment while we waited for the project to start. What can I say - AA roofing is a great company that delivers with friendly, professional and prompt customer service. Their end product is beautiful and I am really glad we chose AA roofing. I had a leak in the roof and it had been "repaired" prior by a couple of other companies. It was time to get a new roof. I obtained about 5 estimates and AA roofing was very competitive on their pricing. They were one of the only companies to follow up and to see how they could earn my business. The only other company to follow up as much as AA roofing was the outlier company whose estimate was 2x all the other 4 companies. I received many updates, photos, and check ins from AA roofing throughout the process. I was given many "bonuses" that I am pretty sure other companies would have charged me for and I am most grateful and appreciative. In summary - if you have read this far - I highly recommend AA roofing. I was nervous at first to go with them as they did not have as many yelp reviews as other companies. Jake explained that his "old school" dad did not go the "Yelp route" prior and business was by referral. But this day and age - you gotta get on yelp. Three basic things I always consider for when engaging a contractor, in order of importance: 1- Trustworthiness- This is always a subjective assessment, but probably the most important. You speak with them to assess your level of confidence in what they recommend and what they will do. How they will schedule the work, choice of materials, steps in performance of work, where they might encounter difficulties and responsiveness after completion of work. 2- Competence- They need to have the skills to perform the work, but more important, the knowledge to recognize problems and uncertain areas before they start. 3- Pricing- I place this last, because if the contractor doesn't pass the first two, you should look elsewhere. And if the contractor is honest, he is entitled to an honest profit. I have a 2 story house with approximately 2,400 of metal shingle roofing installed over the original wood shake, all of which needed to be fully replaced. I obtained 5 quotes from roofing contractors. I was comfortable with 3 of the 5 quotes. Out of the three I decided to engage Jake. Although he was the youngest, he was also the most passionate and was backed by a stable work crew with decades of roofing experience. His pricing was not the lowest, but it was competitive. I made a good choice. The work was performed according to schedule, the crew was efficient, courteous and communicative, Jake was always available to answer any questions, clean up was done well and the new roof is beautiful.
