Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Jerry or AA Peter Flooring. He is nice and affordable but the work he does is subpar. We bought a home and needed the wood floor refinished. We agreed on the work he would do and the price. He was sanding the floors, repairing where the prior owners dog peed on the wood and cutting out space for our appliances and new kitchen cabinets. We were very specific with the cutout measurements and talked him through what we needed. He told us to pick the stain and he would get it which we did. After he sanded and stained we were so excited to check it out. Through the window we could see big swoosh marks from where he poured the stain down on the wood. He had to totally re-sand it and restain it, saying he hadn't ever worked with the stain we chose. After the second time sanding and staining, we went to look at it again and walked the house putting tape everywhere that needed attention. There were 15 places where the stain was messy or actual holes in the floor where he hadn't filled in. We were honest with him and again he went in and fixed it all. Even though we were now very behind scheduled due to him having to redo everything. Which led to us not being able to move our stuff in as planned and had the movers put everything in the garage instead of in the house since the floors still needed time to cure. Even after all of that, we ended up being happy with how it turned out until we were installing the kitchen cabinets and the wood floor cutouts were not done correctly. We had him come back and he said there was nothing he could do and suggested we buy different size cabinets which was an additional cost. The last thing that sealed the poor rating is he promised to provide a piece of wood that was stained to match for a threshold and he never provided it. After many attempts to meet him to get it, he eventually stopped returning my call or replying to text messages. I would not recommend using AA Peter Flooring unless you are okay micromanaging him and his team and not paying him until everything he promised has been given, which is what we should have done. read more

Best experience ever! Tao was the most knowledgeable person I have had come by. We have had several quotes and his was almost $5k lower than one of them! He was also the only one to know that we had hardwood under the linoleum in our kitchen! How did nobody else know that!? He gave me a written quote immediately where most would "get back to me". He answered all my questions and even agreed to do the baseboards. Jerry was part of his team and came the first day to walk me through how things would go. After a quick demo he walked through and showed me any repairs needed. When I was unsure about stain color he laid out my top options and let me choose. Overall the floors were done quickly and Jerri was quite pleasant, courteous, and communicative. However, the whole point of hiring AA Peter Floor Sanding was that they agreed to sand and stain our stairway rail to match the floors, (picture of contract and rail included). After they started the work, they informed me they couldn't do the stairway because they didn't have the right tools (so they never could have done it in the first place...), which was quite infuriating. Also, after seeing the finished work, I noticed all of the quarter round in the whole house was left un-sanded/un-stained (piece of wood that meets the floor to the wall on top of baseboard). When I inquired why it was left like this, Jerri informed me we did not specifically say we wanted that to match the floors. It seems to me the game was to get the customer in to pay for the easier job of sanding and staining all the floors, but ignore any of the more tedious jobs, but would actually make the house look good... Finally, the company rudely called me literally hours after Jerri finished asking why I didn't pay, even though no one had reached out to me about paying yet, or even let me know the work was done. If you want to hire a company that prioritizes roping in customers for high paying jobs instead of the satisfaction of the final work towards their customers, then I would recommend this company. read more

Such a weird experience...Jerry came out to look at our floors. We want to refinish the whole house (2600+ sf). I texted him four days later about an estimate. He said he would send it that afternoon but did not. Two days later I texted him again. He apologized and said that he thought he sent it. He said he was driving, and would send it as soon as he stopped, but did not. I texted him again the following day, but he didn't reply. At this point I had no intention of hiring him but I was generally irked and still wanted an estimate to compare to others. I called him and "jokingly" asked why he was ignoring me. We laughed and he said he accidentally sent the estimate to the wrong "Shelly". Once again, he promised to send it, but didn't. I sent him a text a couple hours later just asking for the total (thinking maybe he was just too lazy to put together an estimate) but he didn't reply. This morning I called the general business line and an older female answered. I explained the situation. She clarified that she is the owner and Jerry is the manager. She spoke to him and called me back. She said he told her that he was still thinking about the number. I told her he was lying to me and/or her as he told me the estimate was done. It sucks for her that this is her company's manager! read more

When I discovered hardwood under the carpet in two of my bedrooms I was excited to have the floors restored. I had used this company before and was very happy with the job they did. Using them again was an easy decision. Both rooms had damage. In fact one of the floors had been patched with a large piece of plywood. The other room had water damage. I am amazed how true craftsmen can do magic and that's what these guys did. You cannot tell where new wood was installed. The final product is outstanding. "What's the LEAST we can possible do" should be the company motto. Jerry was recommended by our realtor. After putting us off for a month because of Covid (not his fault) his crew showed up 2 days before move in date worked on the demo for a few hours and then called to tell me that he was not prepared to remove existing hardwood floor in the hall. His quote listed "Demo and remove old flooring and install laminate" He informed me that "Demo" does not included floor removal even when I pointed out what his quote included. Told me I should have know this and that I needed to find someone else. I got my realtor to intervene and the eventually did finish the job but immediately threatened to put a lien on the house when I did not respond to his texts (we were away on vacation). So..yes they finished the job. BUT they didn't do the work that was agreed upon AND were ready to abandon the project. Not the worst contractor but a close second. He will of course deny this and say it's all my fault. read more

I can highly recommend this team, without reservation. Another vendor had 'refinished' out hardwood floors, leaving them gouged from the drum sander, unevenly stained, and looking much worse than when they stared. Toa and his team from AA Peter literally came to the rescue, were astounded at the poor job just completed, and prioritized getting this fixed. The team was professional, experienced, pleasant to work with, extremely efficient, and the quality of work was superb. I wish I had gone with them from the beginning. Lesson learned. read more

Do not let these clowns anywhere close to your house. They nearly destroyed mine. They turned on water, in an area they never should have been and flooded my house. Then they lied, repeatedly and endlessly about it. They were the only ones there and they basically flooded my house. If I hadn't have come home in time to catch the problem, then bring in professionals to clean up the problems they caused, my place would have been a tear-down. Their dishonesty is epic. This post comes six months after the fact making it long overdue. Peter gave a very quick and competitive bid to restore two rooms of red oak flooring for me in Tahoe Park. After a few other bids that were anywhere from 60-600% higher (no typo), I chose Peter and his crew. They were fast and efficient, but thorough. Peter checked the work intently after the fact and made sure the quality was acceptable and that the floor was ready to walk on. His scheduling was very accommodating and he and his team proved reliable to get the work done unsupervised. Six months after the fact, our floors look great and our expectations are met completely. We recently bought a 100 year old house with 100 year old oak floors. Our realtor said these guys work with other realtors and had a good reputation for refinishing and putting in hardwood flooring. I'm pretty sure realtors have side deals with certain contractors because all of the ones recommend to us from our Coldwell realtor were a nightmare - I think these guys specifically flip houses so they don't care about long term quality. Aside from the price (which was a lot lower than we were expecting), the whole experience was pretty traumatic. It took twice as long and the flooring chemicals they used were so toxic smelling that we had to pay for a hotel for two weeks because just being inside the house gave us headaches and asthma. Pretty sure they are using materials that aren't legal for air quality purposes. The worst part though is that just 3 months later the entire floor is peeling - we brought in a new company to do our upstairs floors who were great (DC Flooring) and they pointed out all the ways the first guys cut corners and how the top sealer never bonded so now it's peeling off everywhere. There are also visible "puddles" from where they didn't smooth out the stain/top coat. Basically we have to re-do our entire bottom floor now. read more

When we bought our 1953 house last fall, it was in horrible condition. The house smelled like cat urine and the red oak wood floor was stained in so many places in every room that we were concerned it would smell forever. We hired AA Peter Floor Sanding to refinish the floors based on a recommendation from our realtor. Their price was very reasonable and they did an AMAZING job. They replaced wood in many areas and refinished it. When they were done, the house looked like a completely new place and the areas they repaired were seamless.
