I had a humongous 60 foot eucalyptus tree very close to my house I wanted to take down because it kept dropping branches (dangerous), and making a huge mess in my yard. The first few quotes I got averaged around $1000. I went on thumbtack.com in hopes that I could find a better price. Well, Brian, the owner of this company blew their quote out of the water at 1/3 the price. He reduces overhead tremendously by using you as a laborer. So, if you hire him, get ready to work. (He doesn't have you do anything dangerous like climb the tree though - he does that part.) He works within a 10 mile radius of Greenway and 40th St. Some very helpful tips for when you come to your house it would be best for you to have (or borrow): - A dolly (to lug the wood) - A ladder (he uses his rope and pulleys, but we did use the ladder a few times) - Eye protection so that sawdust doesn't get in your eye (I learned the hard way!) - A chain saw. (He has his own, but the job is much quicker if you are chain sawing logs on the ground while he is up in the trees) Oh and yes, this tree company IS INSURED!!!

It took multiple hours on the phone with our bank to sort out this issue, along with all the bank fees we were charged as he drained our account negative. Miguel laughed on the phone and blamed the overcharge on the ATM. He offered no resolutions or apologies to over-charging us THOUSANDS of dollars and we were left hanging, dealing with the aftermath. This business lacks integrity. EDIT: Miguel's response below is not accurate and is not truthful. This further shows his lack of acknowledgment in over-charging us thousands of dollars. My wife and I have hired a good number of landscapers to do some things around our house, Big…read moreNick's was easily the worst. We hired Big Nick's 6 months back to do some work in our backyard. We wanted some weeds removed, one planter repaired, three planters to be filled with rocks and plants, and three flower beds around our pool filled with weed barrier and rocks. The final product was not at all worth the price. The "fixed" planter cracked again after 3 months and now has to be re-repaired. The weed barrier was not flush against the edges just about anywhere they put it so weeds still grow around the edges. 2 of the 7 agave plants we had them put in the planters were planted at an angle and have since died. These were 5 year old Blue Glow Agave plants we got from Moon Valley Nursery for $400 each. On top of that, the customer service was terrible throughout the process. Big Nick's agreed to provide the rocks when we started then tried to charge me an extra $1,600 halfway through the job because they ordered the wrong amount. They took the weed barrier we had provided for the job with them after the first day then tried to charge us when they didn't have it in the days after that. That charge wasn't itemized in their bill, I only learned about it after I asked about extra charges when their math didn't add up on the bill. When they finally did return it, someone just let themselves into our backyard unannounced in the middle of the day and left the weed barrier there. Super violating. Big Nick's also didn't communicate about when they would be here to work, which left us in the dark about when to take our dog to doggy daycare so they could work. As a result we ended up paying for several days of doggy daycare we didn't need and had to scramble to get the dog in one other day. Bottom line--save your time, money, and aggravation and find a different company.
