I specifically chose A6 while I was visiting NYC because I saw that they had really cute and simple nail designs and a beautiful array of color options for chrome design. Anyway, I called and scheduled an appointment. Unfortunately once I got there, they said that the nail artist is not working, so I could only go with a simple paint job. I decided to try it out since I had already paid for an Uber to get there. The good thing about it is the nail salon was super adorable inside with lots of flowers and was so clean. It's aesthetically pleasing and peaceful with Frank Sinatra music in the background. I asked for a chrome design but they didn't have chrome polish available in gel, so the next best thing is to use glitter to apply as a top coat to give a similar effect as chrome. I went with baby blue powder on top of white gel polish. The results were mediocre for the color. The one thing I do want to say that I really liked about Iris (nail tech) doing my nails is that she's highly attentive to cuticle trimming and shaping. It's more on the pricier side for nails. Total for my gel manicure was about $100 (60 for gel, 30 for powder add-on, and 10 for gel removal from previous manicure). Usually nail salons charge about $50-60 for manicures and that would be the total, but it's not like that here. Maybe it's an NYC thing? Maybe manicures are cheaper in Cali... Overall, I would definitely come back again but next time I would call ahead and ask if nail designs are available so that I can get exactly what I want. read more

I was heading to an event in the financial district recently and I wanted to get my nails cleaned up beforehand. Thanks to the handy dandy Yelp app I found A6 Nail in Tribeca. Everything other reviews say about the decor in this place is correct. The interior is absolutely gorgeous and very comforting. It looks like an elegant yet rustic interior of light wood and decorations that nod to nature. It was also a huge space. I'm very used to relatively small salons so having so much space was a surprise! I was a walk in so they were kind enough to accommodate me. The lady who took care of me was nice and really did seem to be earnest about doing a good job. Thing is, over the years I've had many manicures and I'm very familiar with how various salons do it. Things were (relatively) normal until we got towards the end of the manicure. Usually towards the end, once your nails are done and cleaned up, there is usually a bit of "clean up" which includes a hot towel. I find this both calming and it gets off any excess oil or lotion on my hands. When we reached the final parts of the manicure I was expecting a hot towel but instead she just said "We're done." and I was surprised. I asked about the towel and she said they didn't do that and I could go and wash my hands in a nearby sink. I did so quite disappointed. My other disappointment was with the buff portion of the manicure. I am used to getting a really nice, bright shine on my nails when I have the buff done. Usually salons use relatively good sized buffer board but here it was pretty small. On top of that, the actual shine was not particularly impressive. I've seen much better from multiple salons in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Overall, I didn't have a great experience here, but many other folks seem to love the place so take this review with a grain of salt. read more

I had met a friend in this area for lunch and decided to get gels. Everyone was super friendly and I thought they did a really good job, price was about average for the area. I would give them five stars but less than a week later a huge chunk peeled off one of my fingers. Another followed soon after. I expect my gels to last longer than a week, they cost almost $30 more BECAUSE they're supposed to last. Edited: I wrote that review on a Friday - exactly one week after my appointment. It is now Saturday and one entire gel just popped off. I'm adjusting my review down to one star. Do not go here the quality is terrible. read more

Make a reservation and make sure to go because they are strict. I was surprised that they didn't have pedicure chairs and tub - for that my legs were not exfoliated and I didn't get a proper massage as I'm used to. But I got a gel mani and it's still beautiful after 3 weeks. But most likely won't come back. read more

The most beautiful nail salon I've ever seen. Went in on a whim for a manicure and was immediately seated. They have a large selection of gel color samples and offered me hot tea or water. I went with the green tea. My manicurist did a great job and my nails came out beautifully. They prefer cash or Venmo for tip. This place is a hidden gem. It feels like a relaxing rural getaway in the big city. I've been here twice, once for a mani/pedi, and once for a manicure. The technicians are very good at what they do, and they show great attention to detail. The first time I went, I got Corinne. Unfortunately, she was not available the second time I went, so I got my nails done by Peishan. My friend got her nails done by Destiny. Both were also excellent. They pay attention to technique, and the polish lasts for an above average amount of time (in my experience). I also appreciate how you can use apple pay, and how you can tip the technicians over venmo. read more

It's a kinder gentler kind of nail salon, both of the types of products (primarily Zoya) and the energy of the people who work there. I have pretty much stopped going to get my nails done - I definitely prefer to do my nails myself but the feet are so problematic to do a good job. I read the great reviews about A6, and thought I'd pop in for a pedicure, booking the basic to test out the vibe. I usually steel myself for the violation to my cuticles each time and how rough they are doing the exfoliation on the bottom of your tickly feet, but lo and behold, no such thing! I had Nancy and I barely even noticed the micro clean-up of my cuticles and she observed and carefully abraded away the calluses on my feet (they are not too bad, but the heels and big toe get pretty dry during the summer). Products are unscented and feel gentle and my toenails look terrific! They might just turn me back onto pedi's out. I may even try a mani - once my nails stop chipping. read more

Wonderful wonderful wonderful. This nail salon is amazing. I got a regular manicure and both the technicians took the time to make sure everything was done just right, yet they still worked quickly. I am obsessed with A6 Nail!! I never write reviews, but I downloaded Yelp for the sole purpose of raving about the service and ambience A6 provides. Angelina is a talented, detail-oriented nail technician who has on many occasion (prom, graduation, travel, etc.) created wonders out of my damaged/uneven nails. I absolutely recommend Angelina and hope anyone is lucky enough to have her as their nail artist. Traveling to A6 is a bit of a trek for me, but every time I try another nail salon I regret not going to Angelina! The nail salon is also very well-maintained, clean, and comfortable, with beautiful floral decor and dainty jewelry (both for sale). I had such high hopes for this salon based on the 5-star reviews but I did not have a good experience. I had an appointment for a mani pedi on Wednesday. I was reading while the pedicure was happening so not paying close attention but as she was cleaning under my nails I, all of a sudden, felt an excruciating pain and let her know what she was doing was really painful. Instead of stopping, she did the exact same thing and I, again, let her know that she was hurting me. She grabs my foot for a third time to do what she was doing and I literally pulled my foot away from her and asked her to stop which she finally begrudgingly did. This is when I notice that she's using a toothpick to clean under my nails which doesn't seem very sanitary and she basically punctured my skin under my nail with it and was digging in my flesh with a dirt toothpick....gross. I could barely walk the next day and am now on two different antibiotics as a result and here it is on Sunday, four days later, and it still hurts. Aside from this, one of my nails was filed completely unevenly and, after I was done drying and she helped me with my coat, she followed me up to the reception area to watch how much I was going to tip. I still left 20% because we all have to make a living but I'll never return. read more
