Not only have Aaron and Kelly (he the inaugural chef at Juniper and she the one time business manager for Coiled winery and other food businesses) contributed greatly to people who love to eat good food through their support of local growers and suppliers to use those ingredients in Aaron's remarkably delicious creations and modeled the best customer care, Kelly's ears should be burning for how many times her name comes up when conversations are had with others about examples of "how to" for extraordinary hospitality, they have contributed much to the Boise community by being really wonderful people. I have visited this food truck several times but only purchased food once. The Tri-Tip Bowl, which is the item I want to try, is always sold out. In addition to the regular menu, they always have a few specials. These photos are from my visit on 10/31/20. Here is what I ordered: Choripan ($7) - This is a traditional sandwich with homemade chorizo sausage. I got the El Gaucho, which comes with lettuce and tomato. It is on homemade bread. While I enjoyed the homemade chorizo, which is completely different than Mexican or Basque chorizo, there was simply too much bread for me. This is a huge sandwich that can satisfy two. Empanadas ($2.50) - These are available in beef, chicken and veggie. I got one of each. I liked them all, but preferred the beef. They come with a side of chimichurri sauce. Alfajor ($1.50) - This is a traditional sandwich cookie filled with dulce de leeches, a creamy caramel confection made from milk and sugar. Caramel isn't my favorite, but anyone who enjoys it would like this. Flan Evita ($4.50) - This is basically Chocoflan, which is a combination of chocolate cake on the bottom with flan on top. We were hungry and looking for some food and saw a man eating tacos on a bench, and he pointed us to this food stand. Both of the men working the stand were super nice. Around noon there were just carnitas and al pastor still available, so my family got two of each. Each meat was juicy and flavorful. We especially liked that we could add our own lime, onions, and cilantro. And we loved the pineapple bits on the al pastor. The elote was also great! The corn was perfectly cooked to be juicy and crisp. For four tacos and one elote, the total was $18, so we left a $2 tip. Not a lot of food choices at the Meridian farmers market other than baked goods, so I'm glad Tacos El Tesorito was there. We'd return to the farmers market just for the tacos!

Boise Bite because the serving size is literally one bite of food? Maybe call the truck Boise Appetizer? Here's the deal, my wife and I rode our bikes out to WestVet in Garden City while on vacation because we heard this truck was going to be there and they had lobster rolls. On their Instagram page, they advertised 11-2 (thurs 7/23). We got to WestVet at 1145 and the truck was just pulling up and they promised they'd be ready by noon. Two young guys driving and we asked about the lobster roll which they promised would blow our mind. So...we took the bait and ordered two lobster rolls for $21 each along with one La Croix for $2. Tax and tip...$53 AT A FOOD TRUCK. My wife's name got called and we got the two boxes....I honestly thought they were empty. It felt like nothing was in them. My wife peeked in to look at the lobster roll and it was the saddest little thing I've ever seen. Seriously, take a hot dog bun like you'd get 10 of them for .99 cents and picture that...but then imagine the bun was 1/3 of that small ass size. Then imagine it opened up with lobster spread across 75% of it....and nothing else. It looked like somebody packed up their leftovers and put it in a box given how much food was actually there. Was the lobster roll good? Yep...it was a different take (dijonaise instead of mayo or butter) but it worked. Here's the deal tho. You can't just open a truck, rip-off your customers, and expect the margins you are making now to persist as you will literally have no repeat business. Learn to provide quality and value...even a side of potato chips or reducing the cost of the roll to match what you are actually serving will go a long ways towards building trust with your customers and repeat business. Or, ignore this paragraph and learn the hard way. Bottom line, I've warned all of you. The pictures on Instagram and FB are misleading, the amount of food you get is disappointing at best, and the prices you are going to pay are going to leave you dejected. Out of principle, I won't eat at Boise Bite again and I'd also encourage everyone to avoid until they figure out how to balance earning a living with pleasing customers.

So my review today is specific to ICONIC, which is their new restaurant & venue. Their location on Glenwood happens to be on my route to and from work. I stopped by on a recent weekday to get some dinner for takeout. I got two ridiculously good sandwiches: turkey with pesto & sharp cheddar and ham with brie and a fig jam. My dad and I couldn't decide which we liked best. They were hot, well-assembled sandwiches with flavors that we really enjoyed. They have a nice ramp into the front door if you need accessibility.
