This location is closed. I tried calling and then finally dropped by and they seem to have moved or closed.

Slight confusion with the order, but the owner went way beyond expectations to make it right.

The food from Whatever Works Catering was absolutely delicious and received so many compliments…read morefrom our guests! We used them for our gala, and they were wonderful to work with from start to finish. Emili was incredibly organized, professional, and helpful throughout the entire process. She took charge of so many important details, from ordering our rental equipment and coordinating delivery to providing a clear outline of the different tablecloth sizes and exactly which tables they belonged on. Her proactive approach made such a difference and gave us confidence that we had everything we needed. Planning a large event involves so many moving pieces, and having Emili and the Whatever Works team handling the catering and rentals took a huge piece off our plate. The service was professional, the food was fantastic, and we truly appreciated everything they did to help make our gala such a successful evening. We would absolutely recommend Whatever Works Catering for any special event!

Emili and her staff did a phenomenal job from the moment I first contacted them to the execution of a delicious dinner. Emili was professional and promptly communicated at each step of the process. All our guests enjoyed the delicious food (hot Italian food served in early January). Her staff even helped buss the finished disposable plates off the tables which I didn't expect! And Emili offered to step in and help with our dessert serving logistics even though it wasn't part of the order from WW. Emili is a very engaged vendor that provides outstanding catering! I will be recommending Emili and her team to all my friends.

Kanak Attack - Katsu Chicken is delicious.

Kanak Express food truck, Sunday July 13th lunchtime at Green Acres Boise…read moreBeen awhile since I had visited Kanak Attack, the food truck started up in 2009 and the business model now includes a mobile group that supports fire fighter activities, as well as a permanent catering division at Lake Harbor with a restaurant. As with any food truck, some of the hardest part of finding them is knowing where to look. I've had the best luck by following Kanak on Instagram, but you can also look up Green Acres by Shoreline Drive on Pioneer street (new location) to see the multiple trucks scheduled that week. Another source I use a lot is the Treasure Valley Food Truck Finder (formerly Boise Food Trucks) on Facebook. Like most food trucks that feature proteins, the prices have jumped up in the last two-three years. A salad with protein is the best bet for bargain hunters at $10, or the three tacos (see menu photo) but I have found that getting the twenty dollar "Two Entree Plate Lunch" works out pretty good as it's usually enough for one meal immediately and another reheated in the microwave (rice) and air fryer (meat). The plate lunch includes a) choose a rice, b) choose a salad and c) choose a protein. My favorites are the Kalua Pig, which is smoky, shredded pork that is juicy, not overly fatty, but maybe to salty for some. I saved most of this and made enchiladas the next day at home. Teriyaki chicken is the same price, add a $1 for the Katsu Chicken which was juicy and crispy with the breaded fried exterior and includes a dipping sauce that's a little sweet and addictive, it's so good. Used to plain macaroni salad? Hawaiian style is a little different, but delicious and is usually the first side I finish. If you are a first timer, don't be afraid to ask for help figuring out what to order, the crew usually takes the time to answer questions and guide you. The menu is pretty well organized into sections.

I had two other tacos that were Brisket. Delicious, fresh, absolutely good. My wife had a bowl of chicken and slaw. That was so fresh and delicious as well. The staff is so nice. Worth eating here if you are at the Green Acres Food truck park.

Today, our friend brought us to Garden City to walk along the river, and then over to Uncle Guiseppe's for lunch. It is a small, seemingly authentic New York deli that serves a great number of different sandwiches, along with specialty drinks, like sodas, sparkling water, and lemonade. They also well things like pastries and, of interest to us, jarred roasted tomatoes. My wife had the #9 Monte Cristo, and I had the #3 Bonanza. Delicious. I also had a Manhattan Special Black Cherry soda, also super yummy. My mistake, not realizing what I was doing, was to order "whole" vs "half" sandwiches. The whole are footlong. I ate the entire sandwich, holy moly! My wife brought half home. Next time I would probably order a half. The owner, who I will call Guiseppe, had the heavy East Coast accent, and checked on all of his customers, making sure they were happy and satisfied. This place is a little gem. We're already talking about our next visit to Garden City to walk and have lunch at Uncle Guiseppe's!

Life's kitchen is a great experience. Plan some extra time for lunch…read more I've lunched at LK a few times. The one thing to be aware of is that they're learning and it can take extra time to get things right. On our most recent visit, it took 45 minutes. The server explained that we were the first to order the daily special and it took a few tries to get it right. The Daily Special A dish that one of the students (the cook for the day) has dreamed up for the day, so it may not have been made but once prior to your visit. When you pay, you are asked to "Pay what you think it's worth". The special Philly with homemade cheese sauce was indeed incredible and worth every cent of being the best thing on the menu, so I paid top dollar! The good: Everything but the time it can take to get lunch. The meh As stated ya gotta plan 90 minutes for lunch. The bad Nothing to report.

I'll say more about the latter by inserted below what the Life's Kitchen people say about the young people who work here so you can know about that. The food is always good, sometimes very good, and the service is always friendly but ranges from slow to painfully slow. It has been my observation that a single server can be working solo and there seems to never be any front of house manager to help keep things moving along. Go with that in mind as a possibility and you'll be fine. I have noted on occasion diners who didn't know that and they were frustrated. I posted several photos - of the space and menu and food - during my first visit last year and don't see the attached to my review but they are on the Yelp page site so see them if you need more info. Space & Seating: This building was once a Marie Callander's restaurant and it is both cozy and spacious inside. Seating options in booths and also at standard height tables and chairs that are accessible to all diners. Meals: Open for breakfast and lunch with breakfast options available all day. Prices: The prices here for good food in a pleasant setting are a bargain. Accessibility: Several accessible (aka ADA) parking spots in the lot. Ample floor space to tables. Standard height tables. Loo is accessible. Catering?: I heard they offer it now and can also host at their site. It is worth asking about if you're looking for that service. The Life Kitchen Mission: "To transform the lives of Opportunity Youth (aka at-risk young adults) by building self-sufficiency and independent living through comprehensive food service and life skills training, supporting placement in the foodservice industry, and continuing education. We seek to foster a sense of belonging, enrichment, and hope. To create a place where young adults, 16-24 years of age, will develop skills to enhance their self-worth and realize their full potential. While enrolled in our 16-week program, students across the Treasure Valley receive comprehensive food service and life skills training, referrals to supporting agencies, education and job placement services, and access to the resources, tools, and opportunities necessary to promote self-sufficiency and independent living."
