Really great service. Jon was able to smog my car right before he was about to close. He did not seem in a rush either! Overall I recommend A1 to locals in Davis and around. Make sure to use the coupon on the website to get a good discount! read more

A1 smog is great! I took my truck in a few weeks ago and he did my smog check without an appointment, and best of all, had the lowest price in town. I used to be a mechanic and can tell you that this guy knows what hes doing. He's also very polite and friendly. He let my dog roam around the office area and didn't even get mad that my dog ate his dogs food. He even offered him bacon strips. How awesome is that?! He went above an beyond. If your looking for a cheap smog check, polite and professional attitude, and support small businesses that are truly grateful for your business, take your car to this guy! read more

I'm usually not one to post on Yelp but the service and treatment from the workers at A1 smog are excellent. They have always been attentive and competent with the issues I've had for my vehicles read more

Fast friendly service! This place rocks and very helpful, and in this day and age its a breath of fresh air to find an honest hard working shop. read more

We just had our motor coach smogged at A-1. What a wonderful experience! Jon was professional and efficient. One of the nice things about A-1 is the extra large lot so it is very easy to maneuver our coach along with easy entry and exit. A-1 and Jon will definitely be our go to place for all our smog checks in the future for all our vehicles!! read more

Great experience, doesn't get better than this in terms of friendliness, professionalism, and quick service. Very reasonably priced to top it off. Thanks Jon! read more

small one man operation, efficient at good price.

Jonathan, the proprietor, was careful, honest, friendly and thorough. I got to know his dog, Roxie, equally affable. Jonathan takes customers first-come, first-served, so I had to wait an extra quarter hour on this busy Friday afternoon, but the service was worth it. My computer application for renewal, which included the smog check results he sent electronically to DMV, sailed through without a hitch. His fan and water made the hot afternoon much cooler. read more

Fast, friendly and convenient. Don't forget to bring the coupon provided on the website.

Definitely five stars--I highly recommend! After living in the Bay Area for years, and struggling with rude/busy/undependable smog places, A1 in Davis was a gem. Super fast, friendly, welcoming. Seating area with magazines and cold water. Dog friendly. :) Great price. read more

John did an excellent job smogging my Dodge Cummins diesel. He was careful with the truck and had me back on the road before I could finish the most recent Car and Driver in the waiting area. Good work and will be bringing the other sleds there when they need the state stamp of approval. read more

Great service, effortless process, awesome price. Can't say enough about Jon he was straight up and let us know right away we needed to address a pesky check engine light first. We came back after getting it fixed and he got us in and out in no time. Roxy does her job well and kept me company while waiting for just a bit. This is the place to go for a smog in Davis, hands down. read more

Super fast, good service, nice employees. Very convenient if you live in Davis. I came in around 3:45pm on a Wednesday without an appointment and was done in about 15 minutes. Bummed I missed the dog in the photos though. I would recommend this place. read more

Amazing experience! John is an extremely efficient, professional and friendly individual. Went to him for a quick walk-in smog test and was in & out in under 20 minutes. Probably the best rate I've encountered in all my smog tests (under $50 for test & certificate) Honestly, just a great experience. Especially since you're greeted by the sweetest dog ever! :) Definitely recommend! read more

Jon is very friendly and knowledgeable. He is fast and efficient. Even though there was 1 car ahead of me, it didn't take long. I will definitely come here with my other car, too. read more

Not a happy visit experience. Came for a smog check. Price is high (75 dollars) and I did not feel they are friendly at all.

Called the last minute and Jon was able to fit us in. Quick and friendly service. Too bad Jon's not in SoCal. He's the best. Highly recommend! read more

Jon is friendly and helpful and gets you in and out quickly. The price is competitive or a bit cheaper than average. The location is a little tough to find the first time but once you get there it's all smooth sailing. Highly recommend! read more

Had to get my smog done as today was my deadline for dmv and have to say A-1 really did an awesome job I had one person in front of me and it was close to closing time and they went ahead and took me anyways. Friendly staff...they even offered a free cup of hot coffee. The little things count and they are worth the visit, quick, fast and professional! Good job!! read more

Hung out with Roxy the dog while my car was smogged. Fast service, very helpful, very easy!

Friendly, professional, and very affordable. The only place I found in Davis that does a SMOG check for $40. Most other places run you $65 or $80. Plus, they are open till 6pm on weekdays. I was able to stop by after work and I was in and out in 15 minutes. The mechanic, Jon, is polite, friendly, and hardworking. I highly recommend A1. read more

A1 Smog and Jon are great. He is honest, professional, dependable, fast, very reasonably priced, and very personable. He's a great guy. His smog shop is clean, professional, organized, and the cushy black chairs and wide variety of magazines make the 15 minute wait go fast. You will be happy you selected A1 Smog. read more

A1 Smog is indeed, as its name indicates. John is a hardworking no-nonsense one man show (outside of his loyal puppy, as the photos indicate). For pricing, service, diligence, facilities and courtesy, its as good as it gets. I've been getting my cars smogged around Davis for decades now, and I'm going to A1 from now on. My last trip was an automobile sale, and I dropped in on a Friday. In & out in less than 45 minutes. Thanks A1! read more

I am a repeat customer. Every visit has been as satisfying as the first. The station is very tidy and clean. You can tell that effort has been made to make the small waiting area as comfortable as possible: there is a quiet fan, very tasteful music in the background, neatly arranged magazines, and a water dispenser with very cold water. Of course the quality of work and demeanor of the operator is what has kept me coming back. Jon is personable in a subdued way, polite, and very efficient. I highly recommend this business. read more

Outstanding. So rare these days that we get to deal with the company owner directly. And that the person working on your car is interested in you and your situation. This makes an otherwise unpleasant experience almost enjoyable. I learned a lot, and... passed. Yay. read more

Went in with my girlfriend yesterday to have our vehicles smog since we were in town visiting family, I Googled this man, read the reviews exactly what we expected, the most best, awesome, service we could have asked for. The man was highly professional, and was quick in and out. From start to finish were there no more than 20 minutes tops. I have self are recommended all my family and friends that live in the area. Wish we had someone like him where I live, but we just might end up taking a trip to get our vehicles smog with him when needed. Great job! read more

Outstanding service. My daughter is a student at UC Davis and we live 4hrs away. John the owner of A-1 Smog took care of the issues with her truck in a professional manner. It brings peace of mind to know there is a place my daughter can take her vehicle and she will not be taken advantage. A great resource for parents with newly minted adults. read more

First time here was a great experience met Jon the smog tech was very professional ... highly recommended for smog

The guy who owns the place is a super nice guy. Had to sell my car that afternoon so I called in early before the place was open. He answered and met me there and I was the first in line. I must have been out in 15 minutes as the car passed no problem. He's got a nice dog that walks around the place. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone. Very friendly staff, the job was done quickly, and it was a nice family run place that cares about your exerience. read more
