Igor was fast and efficient for a one-person shop. Clean waiting area, and the AC was working perfectly while you wait. Cost for the smog check was average as other shops, but you can apply the $10 coupons to save money read more

I have intended to get a smog test at the place next door but they don't do smog checks anymore. This place is very small and a little past Speedee. Fast service. Employee was conversational and friendly. No complaints here. read more

I have been using Davis smog almost every year since 2005 and seen the same mechanic for years recently. He is friendly and completed his nice work quickly. I paid $65 total for SUV and light 4WD truck with $10 coupon in recent four years. Coupon is available on their website. Always almost no waiting at Davis smog or at most one vehicle ahead of me. I like the waiting room and relaxed parking lot of Davis smog, better than another pricy smog station in Davis. read more

When i needed smog checks for the first time this year, I found out to my dismay that smog checks in Davis are regularly quite a bit more than Sacramento. I called every Davis smog check place and this one was actually less expensive than others ($65 vs. $75). In first impression, i could see why the business owner does not appeal to some people. He is blunt, dances to his own tune and does not spend a lot of time on customer service. However, when my smog check failed, he offered free repeat. I had the problem fixed but the smog error took about 500 miles of driving before it was cleared. In the meantime, I stopped by at least twice and he kindly checked the car each time and told me the error was still visible. He refused to get paid for any of those repeat checks. Altogether, despite his blunt exterior, I think this business owner is an honest person at a time when there are not too many honest people left in this world. So I would recommend him. read more

DONT COME HERE!!! He'll give you an inaccurate report. He clearly doesn't know what he's doing. Couldn't match the correct model to the VIN. Gave me an inaccurate report and did the same to many of my friends. Save yourself the money and headaches. There's a reason why he has low ratings and bad reviews. Terrible!!! read more

Went to get my wife's ride smog checked and we took it here because we had a $20 off coupon! This smog check spot is in the same complex as the speedee oil change and a DIY car wash station. When I came, i was the only one and there was only one employee working. The employee was okay, not the friendliest but not the worst. Customer service isn't the greatest but they get the job done. Due to covid19, we are not allowed to wait in the waiting room and have to wait outside. There is seating outside though! The smog check took roughly 15 minutes with a passing test. Total price is $55.... that's average for a mid size SUV.... Would I recommend, probably not but it's an option if you are in Davis. Average score is 3 stars! read more

This shop gave me an inaccurate smog report for my Toyota truck. Leading me to waste time and energy, looking for a solution and delaying my truck registration. When I took this truck to another shop, it passed smog and they said most likely the first shop just failed to let the truck warm up to normal operating temperature. I would not recommend anyone use this shop. read more

This place is consistent, easy, and great for a smog check! My experience was fast, friendly, and I waited inside in the cool sitting area. Great price and service, and in a good location. read more

Quick, competitive pricing and local. I would highly recommend! Just made an appointment online.

I've been going here since it's by my house for 3 years now. They have smogged multiple of my vehicles multiple times. Today I was refused service because he doesn't like my license plate frames and the business they represent. The license plate frames weren't a problem the past two years but I guess they are now. Interacting with them felt strange before, but this was on another level! Just childish, not professional. I took my vehicle to E-Z smog afterwards and was treated well and helped in a timely manner. read more

Great service! I didn't pass the smog, but I was explained why my car didn't pass. Nice man gave me advice on what to do. Two weeks later, I went back and my car passed the inspection. Value was good! Opens on Sunday! read more

I highly recommend this smog check location! The man assisting me was highly attentive, alerting me of a recall on my vehicle, and was very quick with his service. The prices were competitive and my smog check experience went much more smoothly then I anticipated! Thank you! read more

Davis Smog - Interior - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Davis, California

Great fast service! I was in an out in 10 mins. Their place is clean and it's nice to sit and wait outside.

It was fine. There was one guy, and he was busy with some chores when I showed up so I sat down. He saw me and came in just after he got to a point he could stop his cleaning. I filled out a form and he started my smog. in 10-15 minutes he was done and I paid. It was completely uneventful and pretty quick in comparison to my previous experiences. I am starting to think these places can be not that great of an experiences because every comes at once when they a discount is advertised. I cam Halloween morning and I was completely alone. If I every come again, I'll come within the first hour after opening on a Sunday. read more

Realizing my registration was up today I took my car in. Quick and easy. $75 for a four door. In and out in 20 minutes. Really all I wanted and nice guy running the place. read more

I unfortunately didn't view the low rating on Yelp before going, and chose it because it was close to me and a little cheaper than EZ Smog where I usually go. After my vehicle didn't pass, and after then reading up on the battery-dying issue causing reset of computerized emissions settings and a failed test, I went back to ask him if that could be the reason for mine failing. His manner is very hurried (the more money to make), so I made sure there were no other customers waiting (only fair to him). Communication impossible, with him rudely cutting me off and giving nonsensical answers because of not having the patience to listen, and basically trying to shoo me out (because no money to be made). A friend told me that, when her car failed at EZ Smog for the dead-battery reason, the guy there let her go back again and again for free retests till she'd finally driven enough miles to reset the computers to the proper settings. Not only is the Davis Smog guy rude and impatient, but realize that he does *not* do free retests. Never again. read more

The new owner is very helpful he was fast and honest that's the most important thing to us . I recommend Davis smog tech . Tucked in the corner of this business complex near the self car wash . My car was done within 10 minutes and Igor was a very personable, funny and considerate young man doing the job.

Not sure what one can say other than the service was polite and the job was done well! I'd go back. I had a bit of a wait, but that makes sense since you don't make appointments and there were a couple of people in front of me. I checked in, had a quick walk along the path and then the car was ready. read more

I just had to get a Smog check in order to renew my registration for my car and decided to come to this place since it was near my place. There was nobody else there so I was instantly helped. I was in a hurry so it was awesome to be helped so quickly. The test only took about 10 or 15 minutes to finish. They sent the electronic certificate to the DMV and I was good to go. I also had a $20 off coupon that was applied so it was pretty cheap to get the test done. I was very happy of how affordable and fast the service was. The coupon is on their website and I highly suggest using it. To Davis Smog thank you for having that coupon, it is what ultimately made me pick your establishment instead of others! I was also very happy with how fast you were at the test! read more

Incredibly friendly and timely! Let me know it would be 45 minutes and be back before then, no need to go some where else!

I give it two star only because my smog check was quick. This place is over price. $75 for a smog check! I could have done it with ~$38 but because I was with my two kids I had no choice. Never come back again. read more

Look past the jiffy lube to find these guys, jiffy wont tell you they are there. Friendly if you understand they are culturally curt. No need to engage in conversation they get your smog done at a fair price and even let me slide when resmog period expired. read more

Don't go here. You have been warned. For most cars, they charge $75. $55 if you print the coupon from their website and bring it with you. I suspect most people refuse to go home and print it, and end up paying the $75. I didn't know the bit about having to print the coupon. I showed them the coupon on my phone. Mrs. Smog offered to cut the price to $65, $55 if I went home and printed the coupon on paper. Against my better judgement, I went back with the printed coupon. It was 5:10. They close at 5:30. Mr. Smog looked at his watch and told me to come back tomorrow; it was too close to closing time. I told him I would not be back. He said OK. I don't know if he is wealthy, or lazy, or both. So I took it to the garage next door to my work. They did it quick, and charged $50. No coupons. read more

I called ahead and asked if Davis Smog could do a check on a '94 Ford. They said yes. I drove up 45 minutes before closing, and someone pulled in right BEHIND me. The VERY RUDE couple acted like I was trying to do something ILLEGAL or something, and "COMPLAINED" that it would take half an hour to do my car, but only 10 minutes to do the car behind me...then...he had the audacity to tell me THE NO LONGER HAD TIME to do my smog check! DO NO GO HERE, They have FAILED everyone I know! DO NOT GO TO OR RECOMMEND DAVIS SMOG! read more

Horrible customer service. Great for you, being the only place in Davis open on Sundays. I went to SpeeDee, next door, who apparently do not do Smog on Sundays. They said take it next door to Davis Smog. I went over and asked the owner if he would honor the SpeeDee coupon, to which he replied "no." Fine, even though most places will do that. I went home and found the Coupon in The Little Green Coupon Machine, for Davis Smog. Went back to go get my smog done with HIS coupon. Pulled up to the driveway, and there was one car inside the garage being worked on. I'll remind you this is a Test Only Station, which means they don't do other car repairs, so the car in the garage was in for smog, too. The man emerged from the garage and approached me, saying he doesn't have time for me today, come back tomorrow. I said "it's 10:45 a.m., there's only one car in front of me, and you don't close until 3:00 p.m." He replied "I have other people coming, you come back tomorrow." I told him "you know this means I'm never coming back," to which he replied, "well, you never came here before, so it doesn't really matter." Well, here I am, making it matter, so other people don't patronize your sorry operation. read more

I have previously brought 3 different cars to Davis smog with no issues but for some reason I brought my car in this time and the owner refused to smog my car after saying that the intake I had was not stock and that it was "too modified". I explained that I have a cobb intake and it is one of the only after market intakes approved for smog in california. I also have the emissions certification sticker on the actual intake which the technician (owner) refused to even consider looking at. After trying to explain that I had the sticker and to look at it, the owner became very rude and told me to leave. This is very disappointing considering I drove half an hour to this shop because of the great service in the past. I then asked for a business card to write a review and was told that if I didn't leave he would call the police. REDICULOUS. I would understand if I didn't have ANY supporting paperwork but I had all necessary components and only ended up with a waste of my time and gas. I will definitely not be returning ever and will encourage people to steer clear of this shop. I use Yelp all of the time but I finally made an account JUST to post this review because of how disappointed I was. read more

Excellent customer service from Igor. Fast, friendly and efficient with a great price. Definitely my go to place to get my smog check done.

Never ever come to this place. I initially went to Davis Smog because there was no line. It didn't pass, which was expected. I was told to keep the receipt, bring the car back and they would re-check without an additional fee. My husband took the car back today. The lady at the counter said it had to be brought back within 45 days for the no fee deal. This was not explained initially, nor was it anywhere on the receipt. My husband started to protest, and the lady took the receipt OUT OF HIS HAND and stamped it with a "45 day" stamp. read more

It didn't take me long to turn around and go somewhere else. I pulled up to the garages and an employee asked what I needed today. Told him Smog check please. Said ok, directed me to park in the lot. Wait 10 full minutes, nobody addresses me. Get out of car and ask how long the wait is. Guys ask what I'm there for, oil change? No, I've been waiting for smog check. Guy says oh well these this car that just pulled up are getting one, so you're after them. Should take one hour. Really? That seems kind of long to wait and I've been waiting since before they even got here. Guy says "Well there's plenty of other places to go" So I went across town to a cheaper place and got serviced immediately. Neglectful and rude places don't get my business. read more

Well I got a little bad news here. Not their fault though, I hope. The front desk person was very cheerful and attentive. She quickly got me going although they said they were busy and told me it would be about 35 minutes. In the little waiting room there is FREE WiFi!!! So for all those times you need to get your vehicle smogged or if you want to bring your friends' cars in for them, don't forget your laptop. If you do forget you can still watch Judge Judy in the lobby while you wait. I personally brought my bicycle and left while they did the testing though. In about 35 minutes I was done, but my vehicle didn't pass. boohoo. Turns out that the repairs may cost about $800 but I might qualify for financial assistance. I didn't actually check all the smog testing facilities in Davis but it turns out that this one ended up being cheaper, and they do a free re-test if your vehicle fails. And don't forget that FREE WiFi. read more

I found a coupon for this place in the 'green coupon book' where it clearly stated "we accept competitors coupons. Davis shops only" EXCEPT that when I got there the man told me he wouldn't accept the one I presented from a local smog competitor. What a bait and switch! Davis Smog was dead and I now realize why. I was able to get an appointment across town at a business that honors their advertised services. I recommend patronizing reputable businesses good service, better prices. I won't be returning or recommending Davis Smog. read more

Very knowledgeable technician and quick service. They handled my 1995 BMW m3 that has a complicated procedure compared to newer cars without any problems. DO NOT GO! Me and my father went to get a smog a couple of weeks ago and were friendly as always. From the start the owner was being rude since it was a sports car. At the end he said my father was rude(which he 110% was not). Then told us he didn't want our dirty money and not to come back to Davis and stay in Sacramento. Then proceeded to say I was disrespectful to him after he said he didn't want our money and we did nothing wrong. VERY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL DO NOT SUPPORT BUSINESS. Many other friendly smog places in NorCal and this is by far the most disrespectful unprofessional star certified smog shop I've ever been too. I hope you read this in advance! read more

I came here to get my car smogged on Saturday and my car was ready within 20 mins. Sad news was my car failed because my boyfriend had pulled the battery plug to reset my check engine light. Everything else passed so the guy told me to just drive around a bit more and come back if the check engine light doesn't come on again. I drove about back to Oakland for a friend's dinner and came back to get a FREE re-check and passed! =) I had two different inspectors both times I came and both were very helpful and explained things to me clearly. With their $20 OFF coupon, my smog check and certificate fee came out to be $55. Awesome price! here's where I got the coupon: http://davis-smog.com/ read more

I live a few blocks away and own three cars. This is where I get them smogged. I've had no issues with this place. I've only had one old pickup that didn't pass smog, that was no biggie. I replaced one vacuum hose myself and got it rechecked OK the next day. Really there is not much to review about a smog inspection station except the service. Service is friendly. As I recall there were different people working here a couple of years ago. read more
