In early December, 2024, my wife and I were driving in tandem from the SF Bay Area to our new home in Corvallis, OR. Traveling north on I-505, just a few miles south of the junction with I-5, my wife's car broke down (steam was pouring thru the hood). We called AAA road service and within a reasonable period of time, we were attended to by a tow truck driver. He recommended that we have the vehicle towed to Precision Auto Care in Woodland (about 15-20 miles away). Not sure how the tow truck got there so quickly, but by the time we arrived, the car was already there and mechanics were beginning to evaluate the problem. We were greeted by a Service Advisor, Lorena Torres, who quickly gave us a best case/worst case scenario of the problem. She said they would have a better diagnostic analysis within the hour. We returned to the news that the worst case scenario had occurred. A cracked radiator led to damage to the cylinder head resulting in a partial rebuild of the engine. Long story short, it would take a week to 10 days to fully repair. We continued our trip to Oregon in one car then flew back to the Bay Area to await the completion of the repair. Throughout the 10 day repair, with periodic calls to Precision, were were kept fully aware of the progress of the repair by Lorena. And, as promised, it was completed in the quoted time and within the quoted price. Once the car was back in our possession and we were driving it regularly, the car functioned perfectly. We were delighted to realize that, with the new radiator, the heater worked better than before too. Something else, too, that no other auto repair shop has ever done for us...About a month after getting the car back, we received a call from Precision to inquire if everything was OK with the repair. We'll soon be living about 500 miles from Precision, so the chance that we'll ever use them again is pretty slim. Yet, they took the time to follow-up to determine our satisfaction. That is pretty rare in today's world. This last week, we attempted the trip to Oregon in this vehicle a second time. I am happy to report that it performed flawlessly. No one looks forward to a multi-thousand dollar car repair, but we justify it as being better than having months of new or used car payments, as we pride ourselves on taking really good care of our older automobiles. Thanks to businesses like Precision Auto Care for performing such a high standard of repair that we can continue to justify our preferred method of transportation. read more

I got my car done and I was out of there in less than 20 minutes. It was reasonably priced, fast, efficient and the guy was super nice. They are so courteous and professional as well as quickly getting my car back on the road. My alternator belt had broken on a 95 degree day, plus my dog was really hot. They installed the new belt, checked to see if everything was working properly, and noticed that I had a leak in my tire that I didn't know was there. So very grateful! read more

I have mechanic shop PTSD due to other "reputable" shops in town, but this place is legit. They won't "fix" something if it doesn't need it just for the sake of charging you money. I serviced my Honda Accord at Precision Auto. Amber in the office is friendly and helpful in explaining the needed repairs. During my last service I needed the control arms removed and replaced (ball joint boots cracked & arm bushings cracked). There also appeared to be a leak that needed the timing cover gasket replaced. I moved forward with the repairs and Carlos noticed that the leak was localized to the bottom cover near the tensioner cover. As a result he was able to fix the leak without replacing the entire timing cover gasket. This saved labor on the repair (~$450). Also, while working on the alignment, they noticed there was a piece of metal on the front left tire. They repaired this at no additional charge. I'm glad I got my Accord repaired with Precision Auto. I am fortunate that I was able to save money on the repair and they fixed my tire at no additional charge. I will be returning to continue service on my Honda Accord. read more

To express a belief based on the facts observed and documented- Apparently Racial A stalled vehicle was towed there by AAA and left. They said they might send it somewhere else for their backlog. OK. Emails were sent by the owner, including an intro of himself and observations, never answered. In 2 weeks their only call to the owner was "someone stole the catalytic convertor. What insurance do you have? We can look around for someone to replace it." NEVER addressed the part that had failed on the car (it was $13 online, and an hour to replace at home). Only the hustle. The part failure is well documented online as a design flaw, Ford did a recall and redesign for it. This one hadn't been done. They coincidentally have a similar vehicle on their web page. Did it need a catalytic? Vehicle owner was white. MEANWHILE- A non-white person, clear by their Asian name, wrote emails to them about a potential repair. We have all correspondence from both parties, and the logs: They answered each one - 1 hour, then 2, then last one 1 hour after they were sent. Looking at the complaints about them- it's essentially whites who run into problems, one says 'never contacted me', another said 'glad I got my truck back from those thieves'. The trick with such a game is to play it erratically, avoiding detection in a habit. It looks like the case here, to read complaints at various sources. People won't see it. Cal Civil Code 51, Unruh Act prohibits such discrimination. Not the most honest people. read more

Initially I did NOT like the pricing because they charge to diagnose every little problem your vehicle has. So you can run that bill up before you even have work done to it. I did NOT like that. UPDATED: After having NOW gone through the full process of getting my car fixed. I will have to admit. I spoke TOO SOON. If there is anyone to talk to in the front office, I highly recommend speaking with, I believe her name is, Lorena. Lorena let me know exactly what was going on with the car, gave me quotes, and an accurate estimate as to when I'll get my vehicle back. That being said, when the time came, I didn't have a ride, but luckily lived in town, and they even offered to pick me up in order to get my vehicle back. Unfortunately, I had an item, a Compustar Remote Start Kit, stolen from my car when leaving it to service with them. Fortunately, they reimbursed me with a check for the value of the stolen item in my vehicle. Long story short, I ate my words and Am happy with the procedure and partially happy with the outcome. I would have rated 4.5/5 if I hadn't had my remote start kit item stolen, and had to deal with having it replaced. Overall, good job read more

Only came here for an oil change on my 2009 Toyota RAV4. The cost was ridiculous! $50 for the oil, $25 for the labor, $5 for the filter, and $3 for environmental charge. A grand total $85. Even if I don't go to my mechanic in the bay, other shops around there only charged me $50 at most. As far as the service goes it was fine but an oil change should not cost this much. They got the job done, but I am definitely not coming back here. For that price, I can drive back to the bay, go to my usual auto-shop, get the oil change, have my tires rotated, spend time with my family, buy myself some lunch, drive back and fill up my tank, all for under $80. read more

So very disappointed in this shop. Had my truck in for a smog check and to diagnose why it was failing to start after sitting for a couple of weeks. Asked for the one year old batteries to be tested, and to check for a possible electrical draw. Got the truck back and was told the batteries were fine and there was no electrical draw. Today I needed to haul a horse for emergency vet care, and the truck, after sitting for four days, wouldn't start. Dead batteries. When I removed the batteries to take them to the local Napa shop for testing, I noticed that there was moderate corrosion on the terminals, and nothing looked like it had been touched. One battery was deemed to be bad, and the other is being charged for retesting, but is also assumed bad. I believe that the batteries were not tested as I requested, or at the least there was very poor workmanship. What mechanic doesn't at least clean terminals when working with a battery? I have my truck serviced regularly because I am a non mechanical person, and need to have a functioning truck at all times. Now I have a pony with a broken jaw who will have to wait for many hours for treatment while I arrange for alternative transportation. I am one ticked off old horsewoman. read more

Vehicle "broke down" coming back from vacation. AAA has a contract with Precision, so that's where they towed me. AAA driver chuckled... Precision gave me an estimate for repair a week later... $7000.00. I thought SCAM. They still got me for a "diagnoses" fee. Told me the engine needed to be rebuilt and will not run without a new top end. New heads, valves, etc. I said screw that. Towed it back home (100 miles plus) to my local and trusted mechanic. Explained situation. He agreed. He saw no signs of an inspection (a.k.a. diagnosis). Did NOT need any top end work. Fixed for $1200 out the door. I think Precision writes very high estimates for people from out of town that have broken down and are in a vulnerable position. Personally I can not reccomend them. I had moved to Woodland one year ago and took a job running an auto shop in Davis. My 2002 Chevy Truck developed a lout ticking noise at high speeds which my own mechanics could not figure out. I decided to look at the reviews of shops in Woodland and came across Precision. I was impressed with the reviews and decided to make an appointment. I walked in and was greeted by THREE receptionists in a very friendly manner. I had explained what was going on and signed up for a diagnostic check. They even gave me a ride home. They called later on and said the owner Carlos wanted to go on a test drive with me which I did. I was able to duplicate the noise and then drove back to the shop. The next day I received a call from them and was waiting for the cost of some huge repair. They said Carlos performed an engine decarbinization and that fixed a sticky lifter and that was included in the price of the diagnostic! Although it was already late afternoon, the team at Precision took my car in and diagnosed it right away. They determined it needed a new hybrid water pump. I have a 20-year-old car with a great engine and transmission, but it couldn't pass smog for some reason. Took it to Precision Auto and they found the oxygen sensor was bad and replaced it and smogged it too. A total success. This was a reasonable price and other-centered service from Carlos, Jose, Stephanie, Amber and another technician who did the work. Do NOT take your car here for repair. My Toyota broke down on the way home from vacation. AAA towed my car to them since it was an approved repair shop. I left a detailed voice mail for them about the problem, the urgency, and my contact info. The hours listed in Yelp said they open at 7:30. I called after 8 and the rude woman who answered the phone, Stephene, said, "We will get to it next Tuesday" I was calling on a Wednesday which was almost one week from when Stephene said they could look at it and pay a non refundable $89 charge. I explained I had left a voice mail and before I could say anything else she interrupted with "We just opened 5 minutes ago..what do you want from us?" I explained that their website said they open at 7:30 and she said, "No it doesn't" She argued with me on EVERYTHING. There was no way I was leaving my car with them. I called back and spoke with Carlos. I told him what had happened and I was going to pay out of pocket for towing charges just to get my car out of there! I had my car towed to Mar Auto who quickly professionally and politely diagnosed and fixed the problem and got me back on the road home. My car broke down last Friday the 5th off of 505. I called AAA and they recommended Precision Auto Care in Woodland as it was the closest repair shop. I live in San Jose and was on my way to Redding when the car broke down. They were able to look at the car and diagnose it. They had to order the part and could not work on the car until Monday. Amber, Stephanie and Lorena run a tight ship and I was really impressed with their vehicle repair knowledge as well as their friendly customer service. In fact, they let me stay after close in the waiting room until my ride from San Jose to pick me up at 7 even though they closed at 5:30.
