Upon looking under the old hardwood, our hardwood installer showed us two layers of glued vinyl and requested we have it tested for asbestos - which we did and found asbestos. We separately tested the cottage cheese we found under one beam, which also had asbestos (old cottage cheese ceiling underneath) We contacted MES and one other company. The other company had some communication issues (phone) and did not follow-up , so we never got a price. MSE was fast to respond and price seemed in-line with what our hardwood installer thought it may cost. Their work included demoing the hardwood floors and beams and then the asbestos removal. It was a two day process and we stayed in the house during the abatement. The rooms were completely sealed off, a negative pressure was created and they did their work. Once done, the rooms looked completely clean of any work. Their demo work was great. There was no real evidence of left over glue on the subfloor (the old vinyl floors were glues). They removed all hardwood including where it met or edged under the kitchen cabinets so we had very clean lines to but against or slip under the cabinets. And they removed all the asbestos. The rooms were left clean and no sign of any dust or debris. Very highly recommend. Also, very quick responses to any questions during the bid and work process.

They even went directly to my insurance adjuster to request payment, bypassing me entirely. To make matters worse, their so-called $5,000 report is only valid for 60 days. If you don't complete the abatement work within that time, they charge you again -- even though all they do is reprint the same report with a new date. No new testing. No new work. Just another charge. When I filed a small claims case against them, they refused to accept the delivery of the court documents by not opening the door for the serving man, dodging service attempts by not answering the door. It was clear they were trying to avoid accountability. I had to find alternative ways to serve them because they simply would not cooperate. Attached is the invoice they charged against my insurance policy. I have also reported them to the California Department of Insurance and is pursuing them through small claims court. I will update this review with the outcome once the case is resolved. If you value transparency and honest business practices, please stay away from this company. Learn from my experience. I had a leak from my ceiling from the upstairs neighbors' dishwasher flooding. Ed came to check out the leak and put a fan to dry out the ceiling. When we found out the building had insulation instead of bedrock, Sara and team came to do the mold and wetness inspection. They were very considerate of my kitchen/dining area space, installing a tent to contain the dust, and moving my furniture and household items gently out of the way. After they cut holes for inspecting mold, and then patched the areas with dry wall, I did not like how textured they patched the ceiling. It was very obvious which areas of my ceiling got work done. However, Ed reassured me that the texture would be scraped down when they came back to do the paint. Indeed the texture was scraped down to match my existing ceiling and after a few layers of paint, I couldn't even tell that work had been done to my ceiling! Sara and another worker were very good about showing me the work/progress along each step, confirming that I was happy with the work, explaining the demolition and what they found, and also tidying up my kitchen/dining area when they were done with the demo/patching/painting. I loved how quick they worked, how responsive they were, and the end result.
