Came to Akron for business looking for a nice Chinese takeout to bring back to my hotel. Looked all over, thought about pf Chang's but wayyy too expensive. This place though, WOW! I came in and placed my order, if it wasn't done within five minutes. I walked out with a smile on my face and all the soy sauce my purse could hold. While I waited for my food, the phone was ringing off the hook with to go orders. They were putting out to go orders and my order within minutes. I'm sitting at my hotel three hours later and my food is still warm and still delicious. If I ever come to Akron again I will only come here.!!! read more

Inexpensive, excellent Chinese food. I rarely give 5 stars, but this is the go-to place for Chinese in west Akron. If someone can find better food for the price, let me know. There's great "fine dining" Chinese in west Akron to take your guests and loved ones. I love(d) this place. I use to eat here 3+ times/week. Whenever I'm in town, it's usually my first meal. Went there for an early dinner with my family and was saddened at the obvious decline in quality AND (most importantly) environmental awareness. Is it really necessary to serve EVERYTHING on styrofoam? The amount of waste was disgusting. How about washing a dish and not adding tons and tons non-biodegradable styrofoam to our landfills? Let's talk cleanliness... This place hasn't been cleaned since the 90s. It's really, REALLY dirty. 2-stars because they ARE really nice people. We discovered A Wok after our favorite Chinese restaurant closed last year. The prices are very reasonable and the food is very good. I have to admit that the Chicken Chow Mai Fun is the best I have ever had. I would not eat in the restaurant because of the size but for takeout its great. read more

The food remains fine. The only real issue here is the fact that the counter where orders are placed/paid for/ picked up opens up to the kitchen,and a lot of harsh-toned yelling takes place between the staff at the register and the kitchen help. Often the cashier doesn't bother to turn towards the kitchen, they just ramp it up another couple decibels. If I wanted to hear shrew-like screaming there are a plethora of options available that don't involve my handing cash to someone for the experience, so thanks but no thanks on that front. We found this place by accident while looking for a place to eat a late lunch. Food is made to order and not kept under a hot light like panda express. Food was hot and vegetables were crunchy and fresh. Combination meals are good sized portions. One star off for not having tables clean and offering small sized forks and utensils. read more

Probably some of the best Chinese food in the area!! My favorite dish is definitely their General Tso's chicken. Nobody else in Akron makes this dish so well. They also give large portions for low prices. My one piece of advice is to order takeout instead of dining in because the dining area seems a bit dirty. read more

With out a doubt....by far the B E S T Chinese take-out you will ever have! Everything is freshly made (the dumplings and egg rolls are made fresh at the restaurant)...and the taste is more than you'd expect! The Won-Ton soup and Egg-Roll is enough for a meal....throw on top the HUGE portions of entrees and you have enough left overs for one or two more meals! This is not the place to eat IN if you like Chinese food. This is the place to take your food out and eat in the peace and quiet of your home. Call ahead and the food is ready within 10 minutes. BY the time you get home it will be fresher than that served in a restaurant. The food is tasty fresh and relatively inexpensive. If people complain about the yelling that goes on in Chinese as the cashier instructs the cooks that's part of the color of this restaurant. if you're interested in exotic cars talk to the owners son who is generally at the register. He has a great sense of humor. We especially like chicken with broccoli, Hunan chicken, chicken lo mein, sweet and sour shrimp and the excellent hot and sour soup which is the best in Akron. read more

One of the worst places I have ever eaten. Food was bland, place was dirty. I threw it out and didn't even bother trying to get a refund.

Food was okay for its price, little dry and bland but what else will you get for 5$ Service is what was bad. My cashier whose name I think was edision was very rude and couldn't get my order or change correct. I had to repeat my order 10 times for him and he was very rude about it even though it was him who did not understand. My total was $5.95 I gave him 6$ he couldn't get the correct change and had a nasty attitude when I told him. Never coming back read more

This place is amazing. Not just the food, but the people. We walked in with our three year old last night and an instant conversation sparked. The employee said he also had a three year old and understand frustrations that can come at times. He even went as far as to giving us free drinks, an extra egg roll for free and a discount on top of everything we were paying for. We didn't expect it, and will not expect it in the future, but a kind act can go a long way and we will make sure we give our continuing business and support to A-wok for that gentleman's kindness we received last night. read more
