My issue is the way I was treated on my last visit by his assistant after it became apparent to her that I would not be buying frames or lenses from the practice. Her attitude immediately changed when I asked for a prescription. She stood up, went to ring up my copayment, and when she returned with the prescription she remained standing and was abrupt with me when I asked her to explain the change in my prescription, which was in a format I was not familiar with based on what I received in prior visits. I'm an educated person who wants to know how things work and what numbers actually mean, not merely to be told that "any qualified optician will understand" the prescription. I was made to feel stupid and like I was an imposition so I left and fed the prescription into ChatGPT which politely explained it to me, including how a progressive prescription can be translated into single vision distance and reading prescriptions, and what the numbers mean. AI was more polite and patient with me than the assistant. Despite having no issues with the doctor himself, I will not be returning to this practice in the future. The barriers between patients and medical information are evaporating due to AI. Doctors would be well advised to ensure that they and their staffs at least match the courtesy of ChatGPT. Update: In response to Dr. Glasser's comment, all I can say is that it would have taken his assistant less than a minute to sit down and politely explain to me the meaning of the numbers. Regardless of whether I'm dealing with an optometrist or a cardiologist, I take it upon myself to gain a thorough understanding of my heath, which is what ChatGPT provided and the assistant did not. If the doctor doesn't want to take constructive feedback on such a simple point, then I suppose that my decision to go elsewhere is the right one.

In the end, I paid $270 for an eye exam (twice what nearby places are charging) and the prescription was incorrect. I went to a cheaper nearby place and got the correct prescription, but it cost me several weeks of eyeglasses that give me headaches and dizziness.

He said, "I see your insurance is (x) and that only pays us like $60 per visit. We can't give patients longer than 15, we'd go out of business" (!) I couldn't believe it. The rudeness and the gall of mentioning my coverage resulted in poor profit for them. I suggested he NOT say those things to new or returning patients and he said he was trying to manage expectations, that patients "always complain" they want to be seen longer but it's not doable. Talk about poor patient relations/ customer service. I realize what the medical system is up against w insurance is rough, but never has a public-facing clinic employee been so dissuading about the care their provider provides. I can't NOT recommend this place enough; take your business to an office that will value it.

That shouldn't happen since I always get the extra protection, and I use a special lens cloth to clean them. Glasses are all but useless once that happens. I don't recall that ever happening before. The prescription sunglasses they made for me, at substantial expense, are an optical mess. Wavy lines, visible color prism, ill-fitting--unbearable. Gonna try another place this time now that I have a baseline.

I was looking for somewhere else and came across Metropolitan Óptical on Zocdoc. The staff was incredibly friendly. I was greeted as soon as I arrived. I came pretty early, but they made sure that I got my tests out of the way early and then I saw the doctor. My appointment was quick and efficient, but I also learned things about my eys that I hadn't known before. I also have a lot of anxiety with my eye, but they helped me breathe through the various tests that often are a challenge for me. Every staff member I interacted with was fantastic. I will definitely be returning!

While getting ready March 2 I realized that I failed to pack my contacts (I wear daily lenses) which made me immediately panic as I was scheduled to be away from home for a week. I have never forgotten something so important. I looked for an eye doctor in close proximity to my hotel and found Washington Eye Doctors. I spoke to Jim, and he immediately called me as I was on the verge of tears. He allowed me to come to the office with my prescription and gave me a weeks worth of samples. I honestly do not know what I would've done without his kindness, professionalism, and human compassion. I am recommending this practice to all of my friends in the area and have asked my doctor to recommend this practice anyone moving to the area.

Unfortunately there is construction going on in the area, so it was difficult to spot the location, outside of the small flags on the exterior. Upon entering the store, we were immediately greeted, which I dug. However, I was less than pleased with the amount of people in the waiting area, which is why I chose to stand outside for the majority of the appointment/visit. I did notice that they closed/locked the door at a certain point-I'm assuming that was due to the amount of folk in the waiting room. My grandmother's appointment was scheduled for 10:40a, she may have been seen about 30 minutes after, and that is being generous. There was sanitizer available upon entry, and an area for someone to check temperatures; although, our temperatures were not checked. There were several walls of glasses available to try on, but it did not appear that they were sanitized in between customers. My grandmother saw Dr. Lee and she remarked that she really enjoys seeing him, as he is personable, and listens to her concerns. She also stated that she had a good experience with the staff.

Beautiful eyes dilated for less I recently was diagnosed with bilateral retinopathy. I have diabetes and was told that I needed to have an eye examination to see how bad my eyes had diminished since my diagnosis from my endocrinologist. I was very nervous about this because I do not like someone messing with my eyes. My friend told me about A Visual Affair. He said he had purchased his contacts there and was impressed with the store. When I went into the store, a store employee named Veronica approached me and greeted me with a warm smile. She asked me if she could help me with anything. I told her that my physician had told me to get an eye examination due to my vision problems associated with my diabetes. She smiled and asked me to have a seat in the clinical chair while she went and got the doctor. The optometrist came in and shook my hand. He began to explain to me about the procedure and then he asked me if I had any questions that he may answer for me. I told him no but thanked him for his professionalism. When the procedure was over, I was very happy. I was very happy with the services provided by my optometrist and his clinical assistant. They were nice and friendly and put me at ease before the procedure began. This made my nervousness subside almost immediately. There was no "white coat syndrome." I would like to offer a 5 star review for A Visual Affair and their professional staff and I will definitely refer all of my friends and co-workers if they need any eye exams or eye wear. I have been a customer at A Visual Affair for a year now. My first visit was back in spring of 2012 when I had to get a new prescription for my contact lenses. I'm honestly surprised at the poor reviews here as I have never had any trouble. I used the yelp $25 for $50 coupon and had no problems with it. I know that sometimes other stores will give customers problems for using online coupons but the process here was smooth and service-oriented. The staff there, and especially Dr. Bindal was extremely professional and scheduling the appointment was easy. (I called rather than using ZocDoc which is also available) I recently visited again last month for my yearly eye exam for both contacts and glasses. I checked in at the front desk and within 5 minutes was brought into the screening room. I went back at a later date for an eye dilation checkout and was in and out in less than 30 minutes. In addition to purchasing my contacts at A Visual Affair, I was given some extra contact solution, which was very appreciated as solution is often costly. Every experience I've had at A Visual Affair has been professional and I would suggest it to anyone working in the DC area. The convenience, service, and quality of the personnel and Dr. Bindal's attentiveness makes it a stress-free experience for anyone looking for glasses, contacts, or the usual eye exam. read more

AMAZING!!!!!! I cannot say enough times how AWESOME service here is. I came here to get an exam for glasses as well as contacts. Dr Bindal was so professional and thoroughly explained everything from A to Z for me in detail. He even gave me trial contacts to walk out with since I needed them desperately at the time. His staff Rosa and Veronica were also very helpful & nice as they helped me look for glasses (which took forever since I'm very particular about my glasses). They also explained my insurance benefits to me in detail and I was told the breakdown of the prices before I purchased any materials. I was even given a discount on my contact lens exam! Their frames are absolutely beautiful and they have many different styles. I have and will continue to recommend this place to everyone who needs glasses and/or contacts. When I needed an eye exam and contact lenses, I decided to go to A Visual Affair. I am use to buying designer stuff, so I decided to buy designer eye wear. It was nice because my medical insurance covered the cost of the appointment, so I didn't have to pay out-of-pocket to get my eyes checked. It doesn't matter if you go to the DC office or the Virginia office, you will save yourself money. A couple of my friends said they didn't like their experience at the DC office; however, I enjoyed my experience when I got my eyes checked. According to the latest research, the DC office has 2.5 stars, but it will get better. The employee that serviced my order is Veronica. No matter which office you decide to use, you will get employees who will give you good customer service and the utmost professionalism that you deserve. read more

I am an administrative assistant and use my eyes on a regular basis in front of the computer. I started to get headaches and my eyes really hurt. I decided it was time to get an eye exam. I easily made an appointment with A Visual Affair after hearing from a friend that they were great. I went to the appointment the office was set up nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. I went through an extensive comprehensive eye exam and low and behold I needed glasses. I am concerned with my looks and the staff helped me pick wire frames that fit my face well. I was so happy to be at this appointment and seeing that there prices were affordable, I ordered prescription sun glasses and regular glasses in the same kind of frames. I first stumbled upon A Visual Affair because I had heard of these new things called 'Groupons' a few years back and didn't have visual included with my insurance plan Dr. Bindal was very professional and courteous, as well as his staff - and trust me each time I'm there I spend at least an hour and a hand picking my new set of frames with the assistance of the 'girls' upfront! It's so much fun! The girls upfront won't let me leave if I'm unsatisfied as a customer, they are truly one of a kind. Ohh and for Dr. Bindal it's hard to find doctors of any kind who actually care about their patients anymore; but Dr. Bindal clearly loves his job and his patients! As a first time customer at A Visual Affairs I can happily say that it was a great experience. I was treated very well from the moment i got there. People who work there are lovely. Dr. Bindal was very attentive and professional. they have happy and cozy environment. From previous experiences i thought that it was going to take me a lot of time before i was going to be done and run to work. Dr. Bindal received me on time and plus i was able to fill out all my paperwork online on ZOCDOC before my appointment. So i was done in no time, i even got time to get cup of coffee before work.They have nice choice of frames and in general i'm very satisfied. Had the best experience at A Visual Affair! Found this place through Groupon. Then I realized it was close to work and I could just walk there. Everyone from the front staff to Dr. Bindal was fantastic. The staff was very accommodating to me when I had to keep changing my appointment bc of work. Dr. Bindal was great. very professional and had a great attitude. I also appreciated how knowledgeable he was. I tend to ask a lot of questions since I have a difficult prescription but he was really nice about it. The sales associate was really helpful as well. I love my glasses and contacts. Mr. David greeted me with a welcome smile and extremely knowledgeable and patience. I found this place through the internet but cant speak highly enough of how they've treated me. From Dr. Bindal to the whole staff, everyone I've interacted with at A Visual Affair has been kind, courteous, and professional. Each time I've visited, I've walked away very happy - I feel like I've come away with a great set of glasses and/or contacts, and have gotten a pretty good deal on each of the products/ services. I went in for an annual eye exam in addition to addressing a few concerns for my vision. The front desk receptionist was very welcoming and helpful as a first-time visitor. Dr. Adamich was also very helpful and thorough in conducting my eye exam and answering my questions/concerns. Dr. Adamich was personable, which made for a pleasant visit. Alexi was also very helpful when selecting my pair of frames. He showed genuine interest in my selection process and provided styling advice that I greatly appreciated. I eventually received a check for the cost of replacing the glasses, approximately 2 months after I had initially dropped them off. I was so disgusted by the entire experience that I no longer wanted the doctor's money, so I decided to give it to a charity. Coincidentally, a friend of mine on Long Island had just rescued a very sick bird and brought it into a wildlife shelter, where it remains even now, a week or so after she brought it in. So I signed over the check to the wildlife center and sent it to them. I'm sure the charity is grateful to the doctor for his generous donation. read more

I've been shopping around for eyeglasses for some time and found this store in DuPont. I was helped there by Maya who recommended some great frames (just hope they still have them when I come back) and I loved that it did not feel like a sales pitch. They have a really nice collection of designer frames, especially Tom Ford and Boss, for men which I haven't seen most places. You can use insurance and they conveniently have a doctor onsite. Call ahead because doctor isn't there daily, neither salesperson. Overall, amazing service and a great boutique to check out. read more

I've been a patient at A Visual Affair for years and love their quality service and great, unique selection. Dr. Bindal and his staff have always been very helpful and have provided great service! As an example. I am an avid tennis player and Dr. Bindal noted this and asked during my last visit if I would be interested in trying a special lens from Nike specifically for tennis players. I first started going to A Visual Affair over 20 years ago, and they are top notch all around. I have been to both offices and have seen them for glasses and contact lens, dry eyes, and LASIK consultation, and all my care has been excellent! I have been going to Dr. Bindal for YEARS. I have gone to both locations and I have always had an amazing experience. I can't imagine going to a different eye doctor. I highly recommend him!! I have had poor eye vision since the 2nd grade, and I am now 33 years old. I have had a lot of experience with appointments and doctors. Dr. Bindal makes me feel secure every time I leave. I've been a patient of Dr. Bindal for at least 15 years. He's thorough yet doesn't over do it. He's patient and will take the time to answer all your questions, no matter how absurd. Wait times are reasonable to better than the DC average. I have referred friends to him and they have become repeat patients as well. He has a large selection of trendy glasses on-site and his staff are very helpful in pointing you to frames that compliment your face. You won't be leaving with 80s coke bottle lenses. I walked in this morning , not having the faintest idea what A Visual Affair was . I had a major emergency and my frame was all messed up and crooked. I met with this lovely young man , David, who solved my troubles this morning. Not only did he fix my frames that I have had since I was a young girl, he also cleaned them up and made them look brand new. I couldn't be more pleased. I never knew there were bifocal contact lenses. For the past 10 years, I have been wearing contacts, one eye for distance and one for reading. Dr. Bindal asked me why I was doing that, and I told him because that's what every Dr. I've seen fits me in. He was surprised, since he said good bifocal contacts have been around for over 20 years, and awesome ones for the last 10 years. I had the best experience searching for a new pair of frames. I haven't updated mine for almost 7 years so was in desperate need of a new look. I went in during my lunch break and thanks to David's amazing help, I found a pair I loved. I came back a week later to order them only to find an even better pair than before.
