Went in for a eye exam. Told the Dr. About what my contacts type is and what my vision has been in the past. I just needed a check up so I could order new contacts. With my vision insurance I have never paid more than $40 for a check up. After leaving the exam room I was told I have to pay $140 because of my contacts type. This was never explained until after leaving the exam room, even when I showed and told her what my previous prescriptions were. Leaving me no choice but to pay the way over priced $140. read more

I found A+ Vision on Yelp.com. I had an emergency and needed replacement contact lenses ASAP and I called A+ vision and they were responsive right away. 3 other places in the area that I called were not even open on Saturdays or did not pick up their phone even though they were supposed to be open. Not only did they have my prescription and lens type (which is not that easy to have without ordering in advance), but they gave me a pair to use right away and ordered me a box for later. They were also very accommodating since I was from out of town, they shipped my contacts to my house. The staff is helpful, nice and accommodating and they have a great selection of eye wear and sunglasses too! They have great customer service and can accommodate you immediately. read more

Free Exam for 6-12 mo!! I brought my daughter here because I read that children as early as 6 mo should be getting their eyes checked. We are new to the neighborhood and found Dr. Nguyen on yelp. They saw me right when I walked into the office (a plus when you have a baby with you) and the exam was quick and easy. Dr. Nguyen did a great job distracting my daughter so she could get her check her eyes and a bonus was that she doesn't charge you or your insurance for a infant visit between 6-12 mo!! I will start by saying Dr. Nguyen and her staff have helped my daughter more than I could have ever imagined possible. We had tried lots of things to help my daughter that had limited success before meeting Dr. Nguyen. I have been seeing Dr. Nguyen for the last year. My 4th grade daughter has struggled in school continuously. I have spent countless dollars on private reading tutors, occupational therapy, reading assessments, and have gotten her small group help during her school day to help her. These all have had limited improvements leaving my daughter way behind in her academics. I talked with Dr. Nguyen about my daughter's learning struggles when she was assessing her vision. She recommended testing Amelia for visual processing. We went forward with the testing. It turns out my daughter struggled to read because while she had 20/25 vision acuity, she was not able to process the information. After Dr. Nguyen evaluated her, we were given a plan to implement with my daughter that included weekly vision therapy. After finishing roughly 2/3 of the plan laid out by Dr. Nguyen, my daughter has increased her reading level in the last 4 months from 1.3 to 2.7. This is a year and a half improvement in 4 months!!! Her teachers have commented that "whatever we are doing is working." After doing 2/3 of the planned vision therapy, we are seeing the results of the therapy. My daughter can now read because she can see the letters, the letters are no longer moving, and her mind is learning to correctly process the information she takes in visually. Dr. Nguyen and her entire staff have been great (even when my daughter was not interested in cooperating with them at all) during my daughter's vision therapy. I cannot thank Dr. Nguyen and her staff enough for helping my daughter. I cannot say enough good things about the progress A+ Optometry has helped my daughter make in the last 4 months with their vision therapy program. read more

I had consulted with neighbors and looked on-line (Yelp) and chose A+ as the place I wanted to go for my exam. I didn't realize they had a selection of frames in the office to choose from. Some places are just doctor's offices or offer a limited selection, but not A+. I was able to get a Saturday appointment and I was happy about that. My travel schedule makes taking time during the week difficult. I was mailed all of the forms that were needed. I ended up emailing my information back to them versus printing it and taking it in. They took that data and started my file so when I showed up it was a very quick process. I liked being able to choose the time that worked for me to fill out paperwork versus having to show up early. The office staff was very friendly. I browsed the frame selections and even got advice and recommendations from the team in helping make my decision. Dr. Nguyen was great. She was very thorough in asking questions that allowed her to make a recommendation as to what type of glasses I needed. The entire experience went well and my new glasses are on order. Do Not Buy Glasses Here EVER!! I refer to yelp reviews regularly for restaurants and other services. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review but you should know what to expect here. First, Dr. Nguyen is great!!! She is very personable and was very good with my children. She is thorough and honest, which I really appreciate. I have not been unhappy with any of the exams my family has had from her. The reason for my review is due to her optometry department: When I first went to Dr. Nguyen we had just been put on new insurance and had coverage for a new pair of glasses for my 7 yr old son. This would be his second pair. His first pair was wire framed and he really wanted plastic frames this time. I explained to the optometrist, Blanca, that he was only interested in the plastic frames. Their selection for boys is minimal but that was ok. Since this was only my 2nd pair of glasses for my son, I had no idea about the sizing of front, sides, etc. I assumed that the job of the optometry department was to help us find a pair that would fit properly. He chose a pair he liked and we purchased them. She should have told us these were not suitable for him but she did not! As it turns out, the glasses were way to big for his head. They had to be "ultra" adjusted to keep them from falling off when he looked down. After a couple of adjustments they broke. They were replaced through the manfucturer warranty. When the second pair arrived, Blanca told me that we should only do minimal adjustments or they may break again as they did not fit well. They broke on the first adjustment before we even left the building. When I questioned why she didn't tell me that these were a poor fit, she said that it's not her job to choose glasses. I wasn't asking her to choose but if she couldn't offer a suitable pair that my son liked, she should have encouraged us to look around. Since clearly, these were not a good fit for him and would probably continue to break, Blanca offered to let him pick aonther pair. These fit much better! They were purchased in July 2013. They were great until they broke last week. I brought them into Blanca for a replacement, since they were within the 1 year manufacturer warranty. She called later that afternoon to let me know that the manufacturer no longer was making these glasses and there was nothing she could do for us. Since our insurance only offers 1 pair of frames every 2 years and these can't be replaced I am forced to pay out of pocket for a new pair. My frustration with the customer service at A+ Vision, especially when the pair we purchased from them was still under warranty, has led me to find another optometrist. When I explained our situation to the new office, I was told that MOST offices would have either worked with the manfacturer rep to find a replacement pair or they would have offered a comparable pair as replacement. They were shocked that A+ Vision was not willing to replace them. If you just need an eye doctor, I would recommend Dr. Nguyen, but do not waste your time or money in their optometry department. There are tons of local optometry departments with much better selections and MUCH MUCH better customer service!!!!! read more

We switched from a different doctor and have been very happy with the switch. My whole family has seen Doctor Nguyen twice now and have received the best of care. She is knowledgable and friendly and very understanding. She has all the lates equipment and seems up to date on all the latest eye care. We will stick with her for years to come. read more

I thought all optometrists were the same...they are NOT. I went to Ladera Ranch Optometry last year because of my schedule. This was a huge mistake. I had to go back to them 4 times because my progressive prescription was incorrect. The antireflective material scratched severely and new lenses needed to be made within 6 months. The insurance company eventually refunded me for 1 set of lenses. I had to wait an entire year until my insurance benefits could be used again. In 2014, I returned to Dr. Nguyen. After an extensive eye exam, we learned the prescription from the other place was STILL incorrect. I needed a daily pair of progressive lenses, a computer lens, and a pair of sunglasses. My daily glasses arrived, yesterday. I CAN SEE PERFECTLY! What a difference it is to wear a pair of glasses that you can see out of perfectly!!!! I would have paid any amount of money last year for this! Dr. Nguyen got it right the first time through, and was very pleasant in the process. The entire staff has worked with my very fragile no frame lenses, they didn't recommend using this frame, but I really wanted to use them. They sent the frame to the lab, and the lab was able to put my new lenses in the very very fragile frame. I am a very happy customer, and I would recommend this office to anyone looking for great customer service, a staff who is passionately invested in the health of your eyes, and a very well educated doctor. Dr. Nguyen saw my husband and I for eye exams and is by far the best eye doctor I've ever seen! She is so professional, friendly and VERY thorough. I had some issues with my contacts I was testing out after my first appt and when my husband came in for his appointment, she saw me and did a mini eye exam for me again that same day without an appointment. BEWARE!!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS OPTOMETRIST!!!!!!!! SHE WILL RIP YOU OFF BLIND. I wanted to rate 0 stars but Yelp won't let me. Dr. Nguyen pretends to be nice, but really she is greedy and selfish. She lies to your face and misleads you to get more of your money. My insurance covers 50% of the cost of an eye exam, and she found a way to get around it by saying that it's a "special" exam that she has to do for astigmatism, which is much more difficult to do. I didn't even have astigmatism and ended up having to force her to remove it from my prescription because I could not see clearly with it in my lens. Even if I did, there is nothing difficult about it. She just grabs a pair of lenses from a room and gives them to you. She still charged me almost $200 for an exam, even though I clearly did not have astigmatism. She told me that my insurance would only cover 10% of that cost. Total Lie- I was baffled as I spent hours on the phone with my insurance company as we were trying to figure out why I got charged that much. She also would NOT give me a copy of my prescription after paying for this exam, she wanted to charge me $25 for it- imagine, for a piece of paper, after she got almost $200 out of me. I then called a day later and the receptionist said that a copy of my prescription is and always has been FREE! He was supposed to email it to me and never did! I had to go back and get it. Sadly, Dr. Nguyen did not stop there. When I got home after that, my mother and sisters then told me that she had previously harassed them with phone calls about an "extra charge" she forgot to charge them after getting an exam for glasses. This also turned out to be completely false. This optometry is a scam!! Save your money in this economy and go somewhere else!! I never write reviews, but I needed to warn others. read more

wow, how fake does the person who wrote on the 14th and 15th sound? is it not obvious to everyone that someone from their office wrote this? pathetic... I have been to a few optometry offices, and let me just say, this one takes the cake for having an unproffesional first impression! I came in end of December to see if I could find a new pair of glasses along with maybe a new eye doctor. When walking in, the place smelled of old chicken from the food the lady at the front desk was so diligintly devouring. I asked if the doctor had an opening any time soon, and the receptionist proceeded to answer before swallowing. gross! I tried nicely asking if she (the receptionist) was on lunch and someone couldnt take over the front desk. She then told me this WAS her lunch break ...ummm, is this legal in the U.S.? don't people legally have to have a lunch break of some sort? well, the office lost a patient, as I thanked the receptionist and turned around about to throw up from the nasty smell of her food. lost patient means lost money...
