Olivia was my color, cut & style Specialist. She's great as well as the vibes in this salon.

This is the salon I love. My hairstylist is Emily and she's fabulous. Moved down here from Chicago 9 years ago. Took me a long time to find.

Not worth the price. So expensive!! My hair looked good but nothing special I will not be going back.

It was my first time at AVBS, and I had a wonderful experience! Nicole, my hairstylist, is an E1 and she did an excellent job! I'm very pleased with how my hair turned out. Nicole is a warm and friendly person. I also really like their washing area and spa. The room's peppermint scent is very relaxing. I highly recommend it and will definitely return. #balayagebyNicole read more

I had a wonderful experience with Cassie at AVBS today. She was very professional and kind. Very pleased with my cut and color and the hair wash/massage was the best! It was very relaxing and I will definitely be back. read more

While my husband was deployed I was getting my hair cut by Ashley crum. At the time I had a bob cut. I loved her. She was so sweet and knew how to handle my crazy frizzy hair. Now I'm seeing Casey Chisam I just started the process of going blonde. I know it's going to take time I can't wait to see the end results. The first process came out great! My favorite part of the salon is the lather lounge they wash your hair in a quiet room with music. They give you an amazing head massage. They make your experience so relaxing. I love this salon and will continue to go here until we move. read more

I can't even explain how terrible this is, my stylist was KASSIE. I've spend over $560 getting this done to me and getting it fixed with someone who actually knows how to do hair, I could have had a monkey with a paint brush do a better job. I've been blonde for a long time and unfortunately my regular angel of a hairstylist was out of town so I came here and had the worst experience ever. I showed the girl who had (told me she'd been at this salon for 6 years btw) I showed her my reference which I'll add below and my hair was already so close to what I wanted and I just asked for a couple baby low lights and high lights. After slapping this on my hair my hair turned green and black which she told me would not happen, but it did. I told her as soon as she was done it wasn't good and she told me I'd have to PAY EXTRA to get this fixed and that this is what I wanted, again look at my Instagram reference picture and tell me it's the same thing, btw she said I need to wash it out and it'll turn out like that picture, lol you kidding me ...I paid in total $265 to walk out with this on my head after even the owner took a look at me who also laughed when I showed her my hair. I didn't add at least 4 more pictures of what I looked like and mind this is AFTER SHE FIXED my hair, Imagine what I looked like before, she even told me it would look better if I just style my hair? I told her I work in a hospital in covid units and I can't just style my hair every day to "cover this"... She ruined my hair and made me spend twice as much to fix it. I have kept my receipts so I'd love my money back because this is unacceptable. The biggest joke. Save your money and have someone who actually knows what they are doing fix it. I can even introduce you to my stylist who can teach you some stuff, feel free to reach out and give me my money back and in return I'll show you someone who can actually do hair and won't try to scam you.Unfortunately terrible work speaks for itself though so take a look at these pictures and throw your money in the garbage when you come here. To add on, the stylist Kassie also tipped herself $26 and an extra $21 without my consent! She added on two extra tips that I DID NOT LEAVE OR CONSENT TO. A real scam read more

Moving to a new town is hard. Leaving home meant leaving my mechanic. My fav place to get my nails done. And ..... My beloved hair stylist. And so ---- on the recommend of a girl who's hair I complemented at a local restaurant - I landed at a Valeria boss. And I needed some help with gray hair. A needing fleshed style and I haven't been disappointed. My stylist is Blair. She is super nice. Confident. Careful and complete. The hair washing in the lather lounge is the best thing on earth. The room where they wash your hair is darkened, spa music, quiet from the noise of the salon and the hair washing includes a head neck and shoulder massage. I have come back just to have a deep conditioning and yup you guessed it a hair wash. I love this place. I love my new town. I love my new stylist. read more

I've been going to Hannah at AVBS for years. She is a hair genuis, incredibly creative and knows my head of hair so well. (This is important because I have some funky cowlicks in the back and prefer my hair short...she works magic.) I can't vouch for others at the salon but I know they are committed to continuing education. Additionally, AVBS is really about your whole experience. With a cut (or color) you get a nice head massage in the lather lounge which is really relaxing. They provide great little extras like cucumber water or other beverages while you're being serviced. And the overall vibe is really lovely. If you just want a quick in-and-out cut this may not be your best bet, but if you want a quality cut and some nice extras, go here. And book with Hannah. read more

Wish I could rate this a 0! Continuation from Chris B (my husband's) review: 11/15/2017 Batz Response I am rejecting this response because: Once again, Michael Boss continues to ignore the underlying problem and address it.  The issue is:  customer satisfaction or in this case dis-satisfaction.  The entire response from Michael Boss is all about defending what AVBS did or did not do and pointing out small errors which are irrelevant to the actual problem, which I outlined clearly in the complaint;  customer service was poor, no return phone calls, extensions falling out and nearly all very loose, poor verbal treatment by stylist.  Michael Boss' response looks like he's preparing for a court case and not addressing the customer service issues and poor workmanship at all. In fact making attempts to lecture the customer on what they should do. This occurs on multiple occasions throughout his emails and the complaint response.  In a business to consumer environment, I would imagine that customer service should be the focus and not who to blame for what.  Furthermore, the way in which Michael Boss and especially the stylist, Karen Johnson, spoke about my wife is horrified and I'm disgusted by it.  I am glad he exposed these emails!  The entire community and the surrounding area should know how they speak about their customers behind their backs!  Michael Boss also stated that they normally "do nothing with it" if a phone call comes in for the owner to call someone back.  He refers to my wife and I as Mrs. Batz and Mr. Batz but continues to make claims that he had no idea who was calling when I left my name as "Mr. Batz" for the owner to call back.  Michael Boss also did not include all the their entirety, not just portions. I will now address every one of Michael Boss' comments using his numbering methodology First - there was neither prediction nor warning that these hair extensions would fall out.  Karen stated clearly in her email to Michael Boss that she "explained how that wasn't the best method and if she keeps using that method, it could interfere with how well the adhesive stays.  However, I feel confident that the extensions were good and secure when she left."  This implies that the stylist was confident in her workmanship which ending up being poor.  There was no mention that the extensions being installed on the day of service may not last or fall out within a week, as Michael Boss implies.   1) Facts:  I called 10/20/2017, 10/24/2017 and 10/25/2017 and I called and spoke with someone on 10/28/2017.  Yes, a typo on the date I spoke with someone.  However; he did not respond on the same day, 10/28/2017 he responded two days later on 10/30/2017, as you can see in Michael Boss's email attachments.  This is contradicting himself; don't know Mr. Batz is Mrs. Batz husband, that is an oxymoron.  He states the same lie twice about calling on the same day.   I find it curious that this is the topic Michael Boss chooses to respond to and not the customer service issues and rude behavior of one of his stylists.  Having read the rude comments about my wife, he allows this type of boorish behavior to occur.  This obviously speaks volumes about Michael Boss's peronsality. 2) Facts:  Yes, we knew this, however, the circumstances of being dis-satisfied, disrespected, ignored when we called 3 times and our time, pain and suffering causes us to ask for the entire amount, not just the hair extensions portion with the poor workmanship. 3) Facts:  Erroneous:  The owner never asked for pictures or evidence of the extensions falling out.  This is the first we have heard of this, nor of the customer experience!  You mean to tell me Michael Boss couldn't ask who Mr. Batz is, considering you have a client named Mrs. Batz?   That says a lot about Michael Boss and how he runs his business. 4) Facts:  It was the delivery of the stylist comments.  My wife communicated up-front with the stylist that she removed the extensions on her own and the method in which she removed them. This was consistent with her previous methodology and not new to the stylist. The stylist however, chose to use a rude and very bad mannered and boorish method of communicating this to my wife, her customer.  The method of communication is very rude, disrespectful and demeaning.  Her words are hate speech are bordering a hate crime.  She even stated verbally to my wife she likes to be "hateful and blunt to people.  Michael Boss admits he ignores a guest call although they know it's a guest's husband calling.  No respect for anyone; that says it all.  A very narcissistic personality and this is a business owner in our community...that's frightening!  Michael Boss contacts Karen on a Monday, a day that the salon is closed.  Michael Boss also allowed a stylist to talk about a customer in a very disrespectful manner!  Furthermore; this occurred in attendance of my 10 year old daughter while accompanying my wife to the salon that day. Quite an experience getting your hair done here. Pampered and attended to, from the moment you walk in. Change out of your to into their black smock, then discuss what your goals are. Hair color is applied in the color lounge, then your hair is washed in the Lather Lounge, low lights, soft music, and a head and neck massage included. I was told each head of hair is different, thus you get a style for your goals and hair texture. The results were amazing. Blair was wonderful and I highly recommend. read more

I have had many bad hair experiences and it was years before I could trust again. Deciding finally that I needed a new look, I spent time researching online all the salons in town and decided this one would be the best to try. At that time they had a promotion for half off if you walked in on a Tues or Wed. and they were touting that Valeria had worked with Paul Mitchell. Good news to me, people who know what they are doing for a good price. I walked in on a Wednesday and immediately loved the loft style of the building. After going in the dressing room to put on my gown I came out to wait and was asked if I wanted any refreshments and given a tour of the facilities. Not too long after, it was time to get down to business. Tristie was exceptional and polite, also very understanding when I told her about my hairdresser trust issues. Then I told her to do what she thought would look best. I am sure that drove her mad but she didn't show it. She walked me into the glorious Lather Lounge and I almost feel asleep during the 15 minute head massage you receive while getting your hair washed. As she was cutting my hair she informed that if I donated to Locks of Love my services would be free, great! When all was said and done, I walked out relaxed, happy, and with a superb haircut. I could not be more pleased and have recommended AVBS to many friends already. read more

I was actually pretty disappointed with my experience this time. I hardly ever treat myself to the salon, let alone a salon color. I didn't get what I wanted (color wise) at all unfortunately even though I'd brought in reference photos and we discussed what I was after. Note: I wasn't trying to go platinum blonde with black hair or anything. I had light brown hair and I wanted some dimension with darker browns and caramel like blondes. I ended up with black roots and an all blonde bottom =( even my head was stained for over a week from the dye. I guess I'll try and find someone who specializes in color at another salon. The shampoo was nice, and it was a friendly atmosphere though. read more

If you need something new, go to Blair. I have been going to Blair for almost ten years and trust very few people like I do her. She does fantastic cuts, but even more than that are her color abilities! I lived out of state for four years and I could only visit her every 8-10 months. She was able to find a great color for me that was still friendly when I didn't have time to come in for touch ups. I often go with her suggestions and I've tried lots of looks with her. She knows what will look good and always ensures you're looking fresh (even weeks after you leave the salon). I have referred many friends who have become long standing clients. If you are lucky enough to book an appointment with her, go ahead and just save her name in your phone. You will definitely be back. #BlairHair!!!! read more

Love the salon and staff. They are experts with color and the lather lounge is a special treat.

My daughter and I had our hair styled for a wedding this morning. The salon was stylish yet comfortable. Both of the stylists were genuinely friendly and accomodating. Our hair looked fabulous, the price was amazing. We are from out of town, otherwise we would become regulars here! read more

If you're looking for a great hair experience, this is the place to be. Tiffany has done my hair since I moved to Springfield and she is a miracle worker. She's very good at what she does and is a joy to be around. Everyone here seems to go above and beyond for their clients. Drinks are provided which seem to be changed every now and then. Different lemonades and fruit infused water are the norm. The lather lounge is worth the trip in itself. It's a very tranquil, dark and quiet room where you get your hair washed along with a head/neck massage. I would highly recommend AVBS. read more

Never had a disappointing experience here. Kelly has done my color, cut, extensions, and helped get my hair healthy again. The hair wash experience is the best! read more

I had went into the salon a few months back to get my ombré lightened back up. While the lightener was on my hair I started to feel something burning my back and it was the foil that my hair was wrapped in. My hair was actually smoking and I had to be rushed back to the lather lounge to rinse it out and when it had been rinsed out I found out that it had actually melted my hair off. Which resulted in the stylist chopping my hair up in the back to try and hide the mishap. Which the stylist knew I hated layers and I loved my hair one length. I cried the whole way home. Very disappointed in the fact that I was not offered something to help my hair out and that nobody actually seemed to care that my hair had been mutilated. Would not recommend this place at all. read more

I LOVE THIS SALON! And here's why...The atmosphere is amazing (great colors and a cool "downtown loft" type feel.) From the moment you walk in until the time you leave you're treated wonderfully--and not the fakey "I just want your business" treatment. Everyone who works here seems to genuinely like and care about what they do. I go to an "element one" stylist, so it's very affordable, and she is so talented. I get a ton of compliments every time she cuts my hair. She also cut my ten-year old daughter's hair last time, and it's really cute. We're a family on a budget, but "avbs" makes a luxurious salon experience affordable. The complimentary drinks and the lather lounge (where you receive a relaxing head and neck massage) are only part of the total quality experience you receive. My stylist never rushes and takes however much time is needed to achieve the results I want. What I really love is how the stylists seems to always be complimenting and helping each other. You don't often see that with a lot of women working together. Plus, if they feel they need a second opinion, they're not too proud to ask a more experienced stylist. This, to me, shows how dedicated they are to doing a good job. I have finally found a hair salon that I can stay with and one that I look forward to going to time and again. read more

i am a licensed cosmetologist, so i'm kind of picky when it comes to my hair, but i enjoy the relaxation of someone else doing the work. (who doesn't?) i was getting ready to move to LA, but i wanted to get my hair done for my going away party. i don't know the name of the girl who did my hair, but i did not like what she did. i went in for a partial highlight and a trim. she told me my ends were really uneven, but she could fix it by giving me a "piecey" cut. i like a little texture here & there, so i said it would be alright as long as she left most of my length. as for the color i'm not exactly sure what she did, but i only know that i was just now able to get it fixed (i got my hair done in the middle of february & now it's the middle of july) the haircut was crazy and uneven. the color was kind of blotchy and didn't really look very different than when i had come in to the salon. the salon itself was fairly clean, and the girls seemed really young/kind of new overall. i heard one girl talk about how they all went to school at the same hair school together & that they were happy to be working together still. the only reason i went to this salon in the first place was because my friend said they offered a really great discount. i had just graduated college & was moving across the country so that sounded alright to me....i forgot that you get what you pay for. the discount was NOT worth what she did to my hair. i was pretty disappointed. read more

I've lived in Springfield for 8 years now and have yet to find a salon that I fell in love with and one that I felt I could trust my stylist with my hair. I've had a few mishaps at other salons so I was very wary of going to yet another new salon. I found AVBS on Yelp and looked over reviews as well as Facebook and Google and boy am I glad I decided to give them a shot! Their entire staff is friendly and the salon itself is very chic, definitely not like any other salons I've ever been to and I loved that! My stylist is Ashley C. and she is amazing. I came in with jet black hair and told her I wanted to go a very light blonde. Talk about a challenge! But, she listened to what I wanted, looked at all the pictures I had and she really took care of me. Of course, going from black to blonde has to happen in stages and the colors she's been able to get my hair to during this transformation are just amazing. I've already been there twice and have booked my next appointment so I do believe I've found my new stylist and salon! Would highly recommend to anyone in search of a new salon, especially if you've had issues with other salons not listening to what you wanted or completely messing up your hair. The girls here listen to you and want to give you the look you're striving for. read more
