I've been to the salon twice once with a pre-determined appointment and once with a last minute appointment that they squeezed me in to get a quick dry trim. Both times I was satisfied with the service. The only recommendation I would give to the business would be for the receptionist to answer the phone as honey and hive. After salon hopping for the first couple of years living in Missouri, I found home in Honey + Hive Salon. I did go through a few different hair stylists but all of them were great. I had Tabby, Kambree, and now Megan Jessy. And each time was a wonderful experience. I was too scared for a long time to chop my hair off or get away from dying my hair black because it was just low maintenance. Being a mom and living an hour and a half away from this salon, I don't always get the chance to get my hair done often. But I decided I needed some change and have been talking to Megan Jessy about chopping my hair off and starting the blonde journey from black hair. Today was my first session and my hair came out exactly how I expected if not better! As you should know, going from dark hair to blonde is a PROCESS. It doesn't happen after one or even two sessions. This was Megan's first time doing a balayage on me and she was seriously so amazing and personable! I highly recommend her. And her cutting skills? I am the pickiest person when it comes to cut. I come from Nashville, TN where I spent good money on haircuts. And let me tell you, Megan is one of the BEST. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FRIED MY HAIR OFF!!! Went to a new hairdresser named rachel after getting my hair done for three years.. NOT by choice but i was horribly dissatisfied. Let's start with she's been doing hair for over 20 years. what went wrong. 1. my scalp was so sensitive from the volume she used and didn't go away for at least a couple hours. 2 no foil i but i brushed it off. 3.didn't part my hair correctly even after explanation. (blond was in darker areas and darker areas were in the blond) i sat there and sectioned it myself while she was gone, shouldve walked out then.. 4.put me under heat with bleach down to my ears for 10 minutes/ 5. interchanged with a guy who was obviously under apprenticeship (totally fine) who decided to comb my hair in the sink with bleach on it. (no shampoo or conditioner yet) as you could imagine my hair is fried and she thought it wouldn't be noticeable because of the way my hair part. i have a ring around my head from where the bleach was overlapped and it's two completely different colors. When i asked for my money back with pictures (politely ) she said she'd send it back to the person and walked away immediately, after pretending to not see the damage. Went in to get a trim and curtain bangs and had a great experience. Super relaxing experience and place. Also very clean. It was really great just to be able to sit for an hour and chat with a great stylist. I have pretty thick hair so I've had my fair share of bad haircut experiences, but I couldn't be happier with it after my haircut at Honey + Hive! I'm trying to grow my hair out right now and asked for just the smallest amount trimmed off. You know how stylists always end up trimming off more? Not Lina! I actually found Milk and Honey Salon via Yelp, and I am so glad I did! After moving back to the Springfield area over two years ago, I had a series of misfortunes with several different stylists. My hair is long and straight, so how hard is it to do a trim? Very hard, apparently. So, it was with some trepidation that I made my first appointment with Milk and Honey. Mikellah is my stylist, and she has listened to my requests without fail at each of the three visits I have made. At my last visit, I also brought along my two kiddos. My daughter (age 8) and I had appointments for Mikellah to cut off over 10 inches of our hair so we could donate it. Mikellah was calm and cool and did a great job of cutting our styling our new hair. She also took the time to cut my son's hair (he's 7), even though he didn't have an appointment. On top of being a great stylist, she's very efficient - all three of us got a mini makeover in about an hour and 30 minutes! Milk and Honey is a beautiful salon, with a space for everyone. You'll find the traditional salon setting on the main level where you walk in. Upstairs in the back is the color and makeup loft, an intriguing mix of glamor and space-age with their fancy hair dryers. Downstairs from the main level there's a very swank "man cave" with barber services for the guys. I also learned at my last visit that in addition to the tea and treats they usually have at the front, you can also grab a beer to sip while you get your style on. I find the prices here to be very reasonable. Our recent mini-makeover for all three of us (women's haircut and two kids cuts) was $65. I think Milk and Honey is a great salon not only for the quality of the services, but also because it strikes a balance between feeling pampered, but not over-the-top frou-frou or uber modern. It has a nice, comfortable ambiance that makes you feel special without trying to be edgy or overly posh. I highly recommend Mikellah and Milk and Honey Salon. read more

I went to Honey + Hive to get about 2-3 inches cut off my hair with a slight angle to make a long bob. The entire experience was very rushed and impersonal. I was kind of concerned when she started chopping my hair because she was very distracted and talking to other people around her. Nevertheless I assumed she new what she was doing for a $45 haircut with then a $10 tip. Also I told her my concern about getting this much cut off because I had a bad experience years ago where I had to get a pixie cut due to someone botching my hair. She reassured me, still working very quickly and distractedly, curled my hair and I was honestly satisfied with the way it looked, it looked super cute curled! She didn't give me a mirror to look at each side or the bacK but I honestly forgot because she was rushing so fast that I didn't think about it until I got home that night. I noticed my hair felt so uneven on my shoulders and I panicked a little. I brushed my hair out and straightened it because my hair is NATURALLY straight which I told her I never curl my hair so I need to be able to wear this style straight. After straightening my hair it was extremely obvious I had layers on the right half of my head and none on the left AND the left side was almost an inch and a half longer. Now I'm either stuck with curling my hair everyday to Hide this mistake or I have to go pay and get my hair cut shorter with layers which I did not want AT ALL. I wanted a blunt none layered lob. I'm extremely devastated because I had been working to grow my hair out to get it cut into a lob. I'm not saying the entire salon is bad but I would not recommend getting your hair done by Tabby at all. I never leave harsh reviews with names but I am so upset and this is an amateur mistake that someone working in a high end salon like this should not make. I did not request for my Money back and I did not go in for her to fix it because I was scared she would just mess it up more. read more

She showed the lady a picture of the hairstyle she wanted and the lady agreed that she could do it. After getting her haircut and colored it didn't turn out at all like they had discussed. She wasn't offered to make it right, a discount the next time, or a refund. Would not recommend this place, especially if your going for a balayage. read more

Woa..I would not go here. Definitely over priced. I went in got a trim and eye brow wax , ended up being a 50 dollars. Whaattt?? I didn't even get my hair styled! I have never paid that much for a damn trim. Also it's small. You don't have much room between you and the next chair. You are basically touching the person next to you when you are turned or getting in and out of seat. Also I noticed they didn't use anything to out the scissors or combs/brushes in after they did your hair. So I'm getting contaminated from the previous person. Don't waste your time here. read more

I was so hesitant to try a new salon and stylist because my hair has been butchered the last few places I've tried, after my old hairstylist stopped doing hair.
