He saw the number of items we had and was told exactly where the truck would need to park. Despite this, when it came time to settle the bill, the movers claimed the quote only included FIVE boxes--when in reality they moved well over 100--and that the walking distance was underestimated (100ft vs. 300ft). A two bedroom apartment with only five boxes? Seriously?! They tried to up charge us by more than $700 at the very last second, after everything was already off the truck. When I called Ramon, he was nothing like the friendly guy who came out originally. Instead, he acted clueless, dismissive, and nothing like the guy I first met. On top of that, once we started unpacking, we realized some boxes were missing entirely, and our beige couch had been delivered with stains. They had wrapped the mattresses, but not the couch--an obvious oversight. When I complained, they offered me a laughable $50 credit. After pushing back, they grudgingly increased it to $100, which doesn't even begin to cover the hassle and damage. Between the attempted last-minute price gouging, the lost boxes, the damaged furniture, and the dismissive attitude, I would never use this company again and cannot recommend them to anyone.

Here is what made my experience negative: THE SCENARIO: My job promised to be a small one--I figured a couple hours of two strong folks would do it. I had two PODS that needed to be unloaded. I had things very organized, knew right where things were to be placed, and had my sister there to help direct the movers. NEGATIVE 1--FEES: Julie's suggested I use three movers rather than the standard two. Their reasoning was that this would move things along even faster and thus reduce the cost. This made sense UNLESS you understood Julie's fees for travel time. I understood that I would pay for one hour of travel time--i.e., a flat rate. Instead, I paid for three people to sit in a car for an hour coming to my place and an hour leaving my place. The time they were at my place and working didn't even total two hours! I understand the need for a small business such as Julie's Movers to take travel time into consideration, but I encourage Julie's to reconsider their travel time fee structure. NEGATIVE 2--COMMUNICATIONS As requested, I had sent detailed directions to my place days prior to the move. I understood I would receive a call when movers were on the way. Instead, I did not hear from the movers until after the agreed upon arrival time and they were calling to say they were lost. I learned later that they had either forgotten to print the directions or that the printer was broken, and they were unable to print them--either way, they were late but started the clock at the time we had originally agreed upon. I was flabbergasted at this and encourage Julie's to follow a more standard operating procedure of having the directions at hand (digitally or in print), communicating departure time and ETA, and starting the clock when work commences. NEGATIVE 3 -PROFESSIONALISM: One of the movers seemed resistant to taking direction. He stacked on top of boxes he was told not to, took boxes to the wrong place, and repeatedly offered to do light weight things that I specifically noted I could do myself. His actions and attitude bled onto the other two movers who were doing a reasonable job and created an unprofessional atmosphere. My sister mistakenly thought I had not contracted with a business but had instead just found some guys to help. I encourage Julie's to counsel their employees on proper moving and listening techniques and to make respect and professionalism a core behavior. UPSHOT: Again, I have heard good things from others about Julie's and so it is quite possible my experience is an outlier. Nonetheless, I hope Julie's will consider what I have noted above and that readers will take measures with Julie's to ensure a better experience than I had.

Moral to the story, our furniture is now in our new house. That is the only good news. How they…read morewent about moving the furniture, not so good. 3 guys showed up at our old house, with 2 trucks. They were not wearing "uniforms" or tshirts to identify or represent themselves professionally. It was a very hot day, so I will give them grace for that. None of the furniture was wrapped to protect it from damage. The items were just loaded on the truck with the hope that it didn't fall or scrape against the other furniture. When they arrived at the new house, one of the movers took his sweaty tshirt off and layed it on our driveway to "dry out". At one point, there were 3 sweaty tshirts laying in the driveway. Again, I know it was hot, but that seemed a bit unprofessional. 2 of the 3 movers seemed very tired and not in the best shape to move furniture. They sighed loudly a lot and mumbled about having to move stuff down the stairs. Again...it was very hot, but I didn't expect our fabric furniture to be moved/balanced using a very sweaty head....so our couches and cushions had sweaty round wet spots that were very visible to the eye and to the touch. IF the furniture had been wrapped/protected, the sweat stains would not have been an issue. Now I feel like I need to have my couch and cushions cleaned. They damaged our hand rail taking stuff downstairs--again, no protection on the furniture. When I noticed the bashed up handrail (in our new built home) I threw towels over them to protect from further damage. Why did I have to do that? Shouldn't they? While moving another piece of furniture, they scraped and scratched the brand-new door, when I called out that they damaged the door the response was "that's what you get for having big furniture." Really? It's MY fault that you were careless? After being told that a desk needed to be moved downstairs the comment was made "there is already enough furniture in that room." I am guessing he didn't want to move anything else down the stairs? We told him to leave it and we would just do it then.....but he conceded and moved it. Lastly, the group appeared to be done moving our stuff and were gathering their water bottles and heading to the truck when I mentioned that we were missing a piece of furniture in our dining room. I was met with "oh yea, we had a casualty." I asked what happened. I was led to my garage and shown our custom designed, Amish built in Holmes County by Laverne Yoder, dining room buffet sitting on its end with the leg broken off--splintered up the whole back of the unit--just snapped right off. This isn't something that can be fixed easily as it is a solid piece of oak. I also don't think they were going to tell me about it. They didn't mention it until I asked where the piece was. Again, it was mentioned that our furniture was heavy and it broke taking it off the truck. well...if you had WRAPPED IT, and handled it with some care, it likely wouldn't have happened. This will be an expensive fix. The unit is currently sitting on books because it has no back leg. I am shocked that we were blamed for the issues because we have heavy furniture. You are a moving company. You move furniture for a living. We had a quote from another company but went with Mr Mover because they were less expensive. That other company was moving a neighbor the same day. They had more people there, all were dressed in matching tshirts with company logo, and ALL the furniture going into their house was wrapped in protective material. My advice, pay more and get peace of mind that your furniture and your home will be protected. We have a BRAND new home....with damaged doors and railings, a very nice custom piece of furniture that will be expensive to fix and a sweat-stained sectional couch and cushions. I spoke with Pam, she is apologetic, and I am waiting on how they are going to make this right.

The 3 men were on time and assisted with packing majority of household items in boxes/bags/crates. They also loaded/unloaded my household items and furniture. That process went very well. The men were kind, helpful and engaging. At the new home, they set up my area rug, bed frames/mattresses, dresser mirror. They were genuinely willing to help me get my furniture set up how I wanted it. I am grateful for that. I have no issues with the overall business. My issue is that I experienced a significant personal property loss during this move which cannot be explained. I was told that Landon Movers has never had complaints about missing items, but the fact is it happened to me during the 2-day move. I don't know where the items went, but the missing items were at the first home on the morning of the move and never arrived at the new home. The majority of the undelivered items were new, in original box/unopened items, as well as a few personal/sentimental items. The total value is around $1,000. Most items were too large to be overlooked/accidentally get misplaced. I was the only client on both days with this team/truck, so if the items were accidentally left on the truck, they would have known they belonged to me. The key missing items are (including approximate value): 1. Ninja FD401 Food 8Qt 9-in-1 Deluxe LX Cooker & Air Fryer & Pressure Cooker (new; unopened in box with shipping label/my name & address on box): $330 2. Sferra Kingston King Egyptian Cotton White Blanket (new; unopened in original packaging): $260 3. Bed Bath & Beyond Fleece Throw Blanket (Qty: 3) (new, unopened in original packaging): $115 4. KitchenAid 5 Ultra Power Speed Hand Mixer, Empire Red (new, unopened in original packaging): $60 5. Crown Royal Whiskey 750ml (new; unopened in box - had bottle for over 20 years - all 3 men commented on this item): $45 6. Rug (chocolate brown color, 60"x22" ultra plush bath rug by Garland Rug w/ latex backing) (new in unopened clear shipping bag w/ shipping label attached): $75 7. Socket wrench set - given to me by my father who had it for 30+ years & I had for 20+ years: deep sentimental value ($50) 8. Ceramic salt & pepper shakers (hand painted ladies): $40 - given to me by my mother (sentimental) Landon stated his employees deny taking anything. Landon voluntarily made a partial financial restitution for the missing items ($500 cash), which I appreciated. However, that does not make up for the personal violation I feel, nor does it give me the funds to replace all missing items, especially the sentimental ones. I tipped the 3 men what I thought was appropriate ($270 cash/person; $810 total cash tips) for a two-day move. Total payment to Landon Movers for the 2 days: $2,650. Total tips represent 30% of total invoices. Total cost of move: $3,460, excluding replacement costs of missing items. In addition to the cash tips, I bought the 3 men lunch each day and paid for their time while they ate & took smoking breaks/breaks. I provided snacks, water/pop throughout both days, for which they expressed appreciation. I keep track of household & personal items and know exactly what was in my home. This was a difficult review to leave as I initially enjoyed working with this business.
