Pros: They moved me back in June of this year. Two guys moved everything from my storage facility…read moreand apartment (small 2 bdr townhouse) to a 3 bdr rancher house with a 2 car garage. I had all of my boxes packed in my apartment, so all that needed to be done was move furniture and the boxes. The young men were very polite and easy going. I had informed them that some of the items from storage would be going to bulk trash that was right there in my apartment. They forgot and put all the apartment items in front of the items from storage. They offered to dispose of the bulk items themselves. So that was good. They also broke an item of my furniture. The movers apologized as well as the owner. The owner tried finding someone to fix the item (it is all wood). I was able to find someone who could fix it and I put her in touch with them. They picked up the piece of furniture, took it to the business who fixed it and they delivered it back to my home, no charge. Cons: They took longer than was necessary. It absolutely should've taken 6 hours to move me --- because all my boxes were packed and they finished the storage facility within 1 hour. However, it took 8 hours and that is my only complaint, because I do believe they intentionally took longer than they needed to. I also referred them to one of my friends who was moving from a home, she commented also on how polite and professional they were, but she also believed it took longer than it should.

During my estimate, I was told the move could take up to five hours because there were multiple boxes and the televisions would need to be removed and reinstalled. I ended up moving all of the boxes myself, as well as handling the televisions, which should have significantly reduced the amount of time needed. Despite that, the movers still took more than five hours to complete the furniture portion of the move. There were also several instances where I felt the work was moving unnecessarily slowly--for example, carrying only two small pillows at a time. In my opinion, the job should have been completed in approximately three hours given that I had already handled the boxes and televisions. I was also disappointed to be charged for the time spent completing paperwork/documentation in the vehicle after the physical work was finished. Overall, I felt like I was being nickel-and-dimed for time, and the final charge did not feel reflective of the amount of actual moving work that was completed. Again, the movers themselves were very nice young men, but the efficiency and billing of the job were disappointing.

They offered me the second slot of the day and took all of my information for a 1 PM move. On Saturday, Kevin called around 10:30 to let me know his first job was bigger than expected and that they were running a little behind. He called again with an update around noon. I underestimated the amount of boxes in my house, and they were really good at working with me to get as much as they could on the truck to make sure we got the biggest things into the new house. I'd call Grandview Moving again, but I hope not to move for a while!

He saw the number of items we had and was told exactly where the truck would need to park. Despite this, when it came time to settle the bill, the movers claimed the quote only included FIVE boxes--when in reality they moved well over 100--and that the walking distance was underestimated (100ft vs. 300ft). A two bedroom apartment with only five boxes? Seriously?! They tried to up charge us by more than $700 at the very last second, after everything was already off the truck. When I called Ramon, he was nothing like the friendly guy who came out originally. Instead, he acted clueless, dismissive, and nothing like the guy I first met. On top of that, once we started unpacking, we realized some boxes were missing entirely, and our beige couch had been delivered with stains. They had wrapped the mattresses, but not the couch--an obvious oversight. When I complained, they offered me a laughable $50 credit. After pushing back, they grudgingly increased it to $100, which doesn't even begin to cover the hassle and damage. Between the attempted last-minute price gouging, the lost boxes, the damaged furniture, and the dismissive attitude, I would never use this company again and cannot recommend them to anyone.
