Formal Complaint - Poor Service, Property Damage, and Unprofessional Conduct This company and its staff were disorganized, damaging, delayed, dismissive, condescending, unaccountable, careless, and overall highly unprofessional. I strongly advise proceeding with caution. My move took place on March 13th and was poorly executed from start to finish. A job estimated at three hours took well over six hours due to inefficiency and lack of coordination. During the move, my property was mishandled, resulting in a broken mirror and damage to the walls. Communication throughout the process was minimal and disorganized, with no clear updates or accountability. I was also charged an unexpected $500 overtime fee. While this fee was eventually refunded, the circumstances raise serious concerns. I was informed that a full refund would not be considered because, in the company's history, they "do not do that," and that as long as the move was completed, the quality of service was irrelevant. While interactions with Shayne (Branch Manager) were frustrating at times, he did make efforts within his authority and indicated that approval was needed from Ben (Regional Manager) to process a full refund. It was implied this would be approved, and Shayne appeared confident in that direction. However, once escalated, communication became inconsistent. Ben was unavailable, and this was later referenced as a reason for delays. When I spoke with Brian (CMO), the response did not reflect a thorough review. Instead, assumptions were made, the tone was patronizing, and there was no meaningful effort to resolve the concerns. At no point was there accountability, de-escalation, or empathy. I can't say enough great things about MVM. I was in a serious bind after getting scammed by another company and with less than 2 days until my move, I had to explore other options. By some kind of miracle, MVM had availability for that Saturday to move me from Columbus to Cleveland. The team was kind, professional, and prompt. They were friendly and took great care of my items. There were only two guys moving stuff out of my two bedroom apartment, but they worked quickly and efficiently. I moved in to an old house that had some tight squeezes to work through. Not once did they complain or huff and puff as they worked to get my couch through a narrow doorway. They charge by the hour (aside from if you have any special items, such as a piano) and there aren't any hidden fees. And unlike some other companies, your items are the only ones on that truck, nor do they make multiple pickups and stops. Very straightforward and simple. Went with one of those national companies initially for my move from Ohio to Virginia, but cancelled when I started finding shady information about them and their demeanor changed as soon as they got my deposit. Decided to just go local and found this company on yelp. Their prices were almost as cheap as the national company, but the quality and professionalism was 1000x better than the other company. These guys communicated everything with me clearly, explained the prices even when I got confused (this was the first time I used movers). The service was just as good. They came to my place at the time they said they would to pick up all my stuff and were super friendly throughout the whole ordeal. Moved quickly and took great care of all my stuff, packed it in the truck perfectly. The same driver then drove my stuff to Virginia and the guy that came with him on that trip unloaded with just as much care. They even disassembled my furniture and reassembled at the new location, so I didn't have to mess with my beds, couches, or tables. At no point did I ever think that I was getting anything less than an amazing deal. These dudes were worth every penny for the work and care they put in. They also saved me a huge headache so I didn't need to get a u-haul and then tow my car a few states over. I'd recommend them to anyone considering a move, rather in state or out of state. read more

I needed a one bedroom apartment moved to a Uhaul location in West Columbus and the contents loaded into too Uhaul containers to be shipped out of state. Theo and Johnny were the movers who helped me. They were friendly and worked hard. Moving from my apartment to the truck and the way they loaded the truck was great. Unloading the truck and into the Uhaul containers was more challenging. Tetris experience was needed, so I jumped in to help with the arranging and tight packing. It was a team work situation. Hired these guys to move the big furniture pieces during a recent move and they were great! They really hustled.. at one point they were basically jogging carrying what is without a doubt the heaviest thing I own. I was blown away. We just finished getting everything off the truck and let me just say that they were PHENOMENAL. We recently (Feb 2019) had a large, long distance move from the Midwest to the east coast. I cannot say enough good things about Jermaine Haithcock and his assistant Shawnn Siders for everything they did to get our move completed. We had a huge problem with the original moving company we contracted, and were left not even knowing if the move would happen. We were SO lucky that Jermaine stepped in and saved the day for us!!! He showed up at our home, he was polite, respectful, honest, professional and THE hardest worker we have ever seen!!! He carefully wrapped all our furniture and he packed the truck quickly and efficiently. Upon delivery we did not have one broken item, no damage, no crushed boxes and every item accounted for! Everything arrived in perfect condition!!! He and his assistant Shawnn were efficient and worked quickly,taking great care with our things and we were so appreciative. We have had 12 moves over our lifetime, some local and some long distance. Some through the military and some that we have personally contracted. We have never had a moving experience this professional and with this much care. Without hesitation I recommend Jermaine Haithcock and Shawnn Siders for any move, long distance or local! The movers started off by wearing mask but at the end of the morning their mask were no where to be found. Additionally, they arrived to the move around 9:15 and were finished at 11 but I was charged for 3.5 hours because their charge starts from the time they leave their building- not when they get to your house. And then their end time is when they get back to their garage- not when they leave your house. A little annoyed by this especially because the movers called me the morning of the move and said they were stopping for breakfast and then would be on their way- which was part of my "hired" time for them read more

Yelp never lets me down and this choice did not prove wrong. The experience was painless which is not typical of moving, easy to schedule with short lead, and reasonable. The crew was amazing, Tyler and Jermaine, they hustled, were super conscious on handling, while being so polite and professional. Wouldn't let me lift a finger, totally amenable to my requests and couldn't have been nicer about it. Only advice I would give is call to confirm your move time the day of, arrived slightly later than I expected however manager joined them to help. I used them to move after living at the same residence for 17 years so I had a lot to move. They were far cheaper than anyone else by almost 2k. It didn't go smoothly they were over booked it took a week because only some time here and their. Which worked better getting unpacked. Over all very little was broken or scratched and they had some come and fix it. I will gladly use them again they were 4K cheaper than the highest guy. I'll go through some mild headaches for 2k to 4K any day and not to say the other would be better I have no idea. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. The local, Columbus supervisor, Lance is not a trustworthy person. He wasn't forthcoming during the estimating process with the additional charges for mattress bags and TV boxes. After giving me an estimate that was 3.5 hours longer than any other company, I spoke with Lance about revising the estimate because I was fearful the crew would work at a pace on par with the extra long estimate. He assured me multiple times that the crew NEVER knows the estimate and they will work fast. That simply wasn't the case. Most of the crew (4 guys) that came were young and very inexperienced movers. One of the guys cared more about what music was playing on his headphones than doing any work. When the rest of the guys started to get on him for being slow he said "We have three more hours left on this estimate!" I was beside myself when I heard that. Not only were they intentionally moving slow, but they did in fact know the estimated hours! When I called Lance afterwards to express my concern for the crew and how I knew that he lied to me, he had no interest in discussing the matter, had more excuses and a terrible demeanor. I spent $2600 to move 5 miles. The customer service was AWFUL, the supervisor is a LAIR, and the crew was SLOW. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. read more

They said the movers would be there hours before they could because they did not seem to allow time for the previous appointment, nor did they seem to factor in travel time. Any move is going to have problems and setbacks and few of them go as smoothly as mine did (I just had a washer and dryer).
